My Aunt Lizzie and Uncle used to live nearby and we used to go and stay with them and let the New Year in with a piece of coal and a drink of Whisky .Fun time making up beds and sleeping on the floor ,with the cousins
Big dinners for everyone, and Happy Memories or family members ,who have now passed on .🥰💞🤗🥰

Brilliant. I grew up in Caryll Gardens, was made up to see our old house. I lived on the middle block facing the archway. 4th landing 1st house, Hill St end. Moved out the end of 1980 when they were getting ready to be knocked down. If they would have Modernised them, I would have been more than happy to stay. My old school was shown as well Harry Board in Grafton St by Holloways Timber yard. Happy Days 😊.

The sense of community was strong .My Auntie Lizzie lived on the ground floor and worked in Dunlops and Billy was a ganger on the building sites .At the back of the Gardens was a little Chinese Place .I am amazed we loved to go to the Docks and take the ferry across to New Brighton in the summer .🥰

@@paulineduncan5712 I can still remember when New Brighton was a busy place with the Fairground and they used to do Donkey rides on the beach.
