LOL... you seem to have a lot of going on there my NOT so lazy Grannydoodlebugaboo. Hopefully things will calm down soon so you can get busy gettin busy on that She Shed. Hugs my friend 💜
I remember my parents talking about the Columbus Day Storm, but we didn't experience it since we were living in the town of Merrit on Oct 12, 1962, which is away from the coast, on the eastern side of the coast mountains, and we didn't get even a breath of wind. The storm hit Vancouver, BC hard, and people talked about it for a long time. In BC we called the storm Typhoon Freda, since it wasn't Columbus Day in Canada. We moved to Vancouver soon after that time. That was almost exactly 62 years ago! It must have been frightening for you, walking home from school in the storm!
Thank you for your concern...the hurricane made landfall Wednesday night, the cat 5 was it's strengh while in the gulf of Mexico. In an attempt to not make this a book as it made its travels to Florida it got weaker then stronger again it stayed strong and intense for a long time then dropped back down to a cat 4... The closer it got to us there was sonething else going on weather wize which thankful caused ut to drop to a very high cat 3.. just under a 4 ( 5 mph winds differnce) it was expected to make landfall more center of the west coast of the state...( Which would have been real bad for a lot of the coast) but it shifted further south came in on the lower side of rhe coast...which helped with the amount of storm surge( which is water from the Gulf being pushed on to land) it was going to cause..it still was bad i had constant 55-60 mile an hour winds with gusts up to 70..some areas saw 100 mile an hour winds..the state had flooding rains..and the east side of the state had a record breaking amount of tornado warnings...and atkeast 25 actual damaging strong tornadoes ..this is another historic storm...after just having a bad one less than 2 weeks ago that affected a few states. Im not a meteorologist... lol so i hope that helps answer your questions ....i know it feels good to diamond paint and catch up on my creators videos..... hugs
