The Beatle and the glitch are two entirely different discs. I have and throw both. The Beatle is wildly understable. Great for slow shots needing to drift to the right on a right hand backhand. Most of you would not be able to throw it at all as it throws more like a ultimate frisbee
probably good idea to have 2x of each of them so you can try your "theoretical line", and then adjust on the second throw to see how they fly when you hit the line you wanted to. :) great video non the less!
This was a great video, Robbie! Honesty about the two discs you're showcasing, honesty about the course that looks like it was just a bad idea from the beginning, and sincerity in your feelings. I love that you can say and show that it's a bad course without really dumping on it and making the vibe of your video negative.
Haha I just recorded a Glitch vs. Beetle comparison video last weekend. I am not great at throwing the Glitch, but I definitely prefer it over the Beetle. The Beetle is just to hard to grip for me. The obvious answer is to make the ultimate glide machine by shoving the glitch inside the Beetle 😂
I'm a certified lat64 fanboy and grabbed a beetle immediately when it dropped, but the hand feel is WEIRD. I havent really incorporated the glidey catch disc into my game much and I keep forgetting that its in my bag, but I'm excited to really see what the beetle can do! Especially after seeing the way you made it fly.
i really wanna see a sol vs. origin or something along those lines for one of these. those were the first two discs that ever let me see any sort of full flight as a beginner.
Being that I'm in Birmingham and probably played the same day you did, I'm just glad you survived and since I have played this course I couldn't stop laughing at your take on it. I'm sorry this was the experience for the 1st video in this series seems like a great idea.
Hey Robbie, first time commentor. I really enjoy your content. Thanks for this video, been playing for years but still feel like a beginner. Will probably grab one of each just to have in my bag when i go with people who have never thrown. And then i can experiment 😅
I got a Beetle a while back and bagged it for a while mostly like patent pending shots. I've got a Glitch now too, but my personal favorite is Sonic! I love tossing it at the basket instead of doing big jump putts
I live way north of you, so the extreme heat you had is really unlikely up hear in Michigan. I think the big question is "which is better to catch?" As a utility/catch-and-throw/warm-up disc, there's a lot to be said for being something that people do not fear getting in the way of. I have bagged both the Glitch and the Beetle, but my son took over the Beetle while the Glitch has been super available.
I appreciate your video’s. Would you consider breaking down Kristin Tattars forehand shot. It appears she is just flicking the disc but she throws bombs.
I’m loving the series. I’m getting back into disc golf and started watching you and this is breaking. Things down very well still have a lot to work on but this helps me with what disc I should possibly buy to better help me in the start to advance. But definitely love this series
Hey Robbie. You should come down to Cartersville, GA/ ATL Area to play some of the courses down here. BTW I love the Braves ball cap, way to rep the best team in the MLB!!!!
I think you explained well why you chose to play in windy conditions, but I'd still like you to try both of these in a similar video in calmer conditions 😬
24:51 Robbie how about, building the beginners bag. Maybe doing a battle between starter sets such as INNOVA VS Lat 64 would be interesting. But I think you forgot one of the most important thing for beginners you will lose a disc INK your discs, great example with the beetle glad it was returned to you.
Would like to see a redo of this video on a calmer cooler day and I would honestly like to see the polecat added in even tho ya may be biased Robbie. Acknowledging that up front should be enough to give folks a decent idea. Btw, have had the glitch for a while (don’t bag) and got a beetle after watching this video. The stability info is on par, tho the beetle seems even more so understable and will flip up on hyzer for me and drift left (I’m a southpaw). Even with minimal power. Will probably my stick with the polecat in my bag for now for those 50-60’ soft upshots and ani approaches.
I think the grip issue with the Glitch is that it's so light that when you start the throw and feel the resistance of pulling the disc before release, you tend to hold on longer waiting to feel that resistance but it never comes because it's so light.
Good video Robbie I have experience with the glitch griplock, actually my only real gripe with that disc If you can dial in the release point its good for woodsy approaches, utility and shots where you need some glide without much effort
I'm finding for my play, most 1-speed putters just aren't fun or desirable to use in disc golf matches. I'd rather get an Aviar or standard issue 2--3 speed disc and putt and approach with that. I do like the Armadillo and Berg, however. I've used 7 of the 1-speeds and I just don't keep them in my bag.
I’ve been waiting for this video since I ran into you on the course that day! Love the content and glad you survived the heat!! Ps. As much as “Zach Realfast” sounds like the name of a cool track star on a Disney movie, my real name is Lockwood Topping
I'm a huge MVP/Axiom fan, and though I really wanted to like the Glitch, it's now relegated to sitting on the shelf to give to my nephew who's just getting into the sport. I don't like the way it feels in the hand at all, and it's way too light for my tastes (and I tend to prefer lighter discs, but not that light).
I'm not there so I can't tell, but maybe that is all they had access to. I guess a few baskets on pavement is better than no baskets at all. Also, in a field or on a course doesn't really matter to me. Just want to know if it flies the way it's intended and the distcompared to other disk in same spees.
I only play that course since it's across the street from me and It's nice to get in a lunch round. It's rough, though. I only take old discs up there.
I love my glitch, but is not that beginner friendly. Big bead, deep dish, and super light. However, the stability makes it a staple in my bag. In no wind, I use the glitch 100 ft and in, Watt 200 ft and in. Any wind and the envy and harp come out.
off topic but where did you get that shirt? I would be interested in getting one, oh and great vids been binge watching your whole library helping me so much.
What an absurd course lol In what world is 18 holes where 2/3 of the tees and fairways are *the parking lot* an idea that makes it past the paperwork stage?
@@derpderpin1568 Nah. Clearly the area's better suited for 6 or 9 holes, where only the grass is used and you don't have to check for traffic mid run-up. Sometimes you don't need a course, especially if a place like Inverness is 5 miles away.
@@johndonair It's only got 9 baskets, so I treat it more like a 9 hole in general. The shame of it is that they have several more acres of wooded land they could build on and just don't use it for anything. I've talked to the guy who designed it, and I don't think he was aware of the other land. PS: I drive past that course to go to literally every other course in this town. it might as well not exist in its current state 😞
LOL the back 4 holes are actually played on grass and are better holes. Too bad these other ridiculous holes exist before them. Glad to see they finally got the basket back on 2
I just started laughing when I saw what course you were on and where you parked. :D I definitely wish the course was better and maybe there are some tweaks that we could help them with in the future, but your expression before playing hole 2 was priceless. Keep it up brother!
There's a fairly new course in McCalla. It's pretty awesome you should check it out. The only knock I have on it it's a lot of similar shots. It's got a lot of backhand hyzrrs for the right-handed player. The markings on the tee signage are absolutely impeccable. Id throw a rd anytime sir
Agree is a fun little well built course but yeah I think all but 4 or 5 of the holes are BH hyzer. The holes that aren't BH hyzer are pretty tricky though
Can you do a tutorial on how to purchase a glitch that hold torque? I've bought 4 since they've been out and they all just move right (I'm right handed) and drop even on comical hyzers they just flip, move right then plop. Don't get me wrong I love it as an understable putter but the ones I throw from my friends bags and any simon video just leaves me wanting something I seem cursed to never have
Hey Robbie, been subscribed for a a couple months and have begun wondering why the "birdie" at the end of every video is the same putt. No disrespect to the shot, it is great, just wondering if it ever changes, and if so what prompts that change.
FINALLY the Beetle is getting the attention it has deserved for years. A nice catch disc, really good for learning a clean release and just cool to see how SLOWLY it keeps gliding towards the basket 👌🏻. It's depth makes it difficult to put power behind the shot with a clean release but if you can throw it like that it won't be too flippy and you can throw pretty much anything cleanly.
Were so close to buy a Beetle but the morning of my day ordering the Glitch got restocked and I already have some Chompers so the Glitch just got me since I can get a bit more distance (200-250')/use out of it for real :/
I think honest comments are better than fluff so I got to say that I think just doing a comparison in a field would net better results for this series for your viewers. Also, waiting for optimal conditions in which the discs your comparing would be thrown in would be better as well. Showcasing these discs on a course that really isn't a course and in slightly heavy wind when your throwing light weight putters doesn't do them justice. I feel like you have a good idea with this series but you pushed this video out just to provide content.
I love both of them actually. Sai Ananda has thrown a couple Beetle only tournaments for people in the Spoksne area. With that being said, I like the Gltch more just because it has less turn. Both are amazing and valuable to all skill levels. Good video as always
Can't watch because I can't see. Everyone commenting that they love the video. Really? I mean, I get it, I totally dig Robbie. But, what did you actually SEE? Had to stop after 5 min.
Clears up after hole 1. 🫡 doin my best to deal with the soup can of humidity we’re livin in! Wish I had a better answer, but working as best I can! Sorry!
I'm doing well! My day has been pretty swell so far, thanks for asking, Robbie!! 🙏
It's really wild that Tomas from Lat 64 has a time machine and went back in time to copy the Glitch 6 years ago
I feel if anyone in disc golf could time travel, it would be him. lol
The Glitch is an old Wham-o mould.
The Beatle and the glitch are two entirely different discs. I have and throw both. The Beatle is wildly understable. Great for slow shots needing to drift to the right on a right hand backhand. Most of you would not be able to throw it at all as it throws more like a ultimate frisbee

Helpful information on heat effects on plastic👍

As a beginner, this is great stuff
Main question is, "Where can we get that shirt!"
Great guy Zach (beetle finder)!
Glad you got your Beetle back!
Good video Robbie
I have experience with the glitch griplock, actually my only real gripe with that disc
If you can dial in the release point its good for woodsy approaches, utility and shots where you need some glide without much effort
As a gyro people, I'm not mad at ya Robbie, took me quite a few weeks to figure the glitch out.
I had the same issue with the Glitch early on, but found that I was just gripping it too tightly. Try a looser more finessed grip.
While it seems most people seem to praise soft discs online, I live in Texas, med to hard is pretty much necessary for most of the year lol
I'm finding for my play, most 1-speed putters just aren't fun or desirable to use in disc golf matches. I'd rather get an Aviar or standard issue 2--3 speed disc and putt and approach with that. Beetle v sonic in the future 👀
Watt kicked my Proxy and Glitch out. Highly recommend. Much more workable and forgiving both backhand and forehand.
Same
Keep it up Robbie! I know you've been able to help me elevate my throws so please keep it goin!
What kind of grip were you using and would you consider going over the different grip options with such light discs next time?
I’ve been waiting for this video since I ran into you on the course that day! Love the content and glad you survived the heat!!

2:20 or a Bite. Its the tnc disc I used until the Glitch came along... and I'm a straight Trilogy guy
I am doing quite well, planning on going out to throw some plastic later, hope you are having a good day as well :)
Try throwing the glitch with a pinch grip.
That’s how I learned to throw it without it catching my finger, like you mentioned.

Picked a beetle up in a base plastic the other week. The rim is so deep I'm still trying to figure out what grip to use.
I am! Thanks!
I like to flip to flat with the Glitch. When I need to go right, I throw it high and straight. If I try to throw anhyzer, it stays on my fingers.
Both fun discs the glitch is way more usable day to day though , that said I have so much fun with my beetle on short wooded course

I have a similar issue with Glitch. It gets super soft in the heat And even just in the bag.
