Dave is out of his mind and I love him. This was a long time ago, wow 20 years so he's not quite 50 here. His voice is still pretty good at this point. His voice was still good on the 2008 VH tour. He's like a comic book villain and your crazy uncle all wrapped up into one.
Yeah I noticed the same. He was absolutely the best thing about the 2007 2008 tour. By 2012 he lost a lot of his power, which is what he really needs to sound his best. Those classic Van Halen songs are not easy to sing for anyone. Nobody ever dared attempt doing Van Halen covers back in the day. It’s way too hard to get the guitar and the vocals right.
Carlo, I agree to a point. Dave was a disaster on the Vegas shows and into several of the kiss shows but he found solid ground on those last shows before Covid put an end to the tour. Dave always said singing is a perishable skill and he just needs time to get his voice back into gear. So he can still do it given proper rehearsal and time to rehab his singing voice. Heck, everybody wrote off Dave but look at how fine his 2008 performance was. Probably the best of his career.
