Good win not only for the Braves today but also for the Falcons in their 1st regular season game as well, Winans pitched a good game surrendering only two runs and pitching himself out of trouble here and there, much improved over the likes of Dodds, Shuster and Chirinos, no HR's today but at least we proved that we can generate runs without the long ball, so now we hit the road starting with a double dip in Philly tomorrow, hope the Bravos took their bats with them, stay hot Ronald, and GO BRAVES!!!!!!!

Nice bounce back game today. Need to win every game possible to secure home field in playoffs. I have seriously enjoyed watching this Braves team this season. Nice outing from Winans.

@@obsidian00 Honestly, they are. I bet the Braves players of the 90s marvel at this team. I'm just hoping they are keyed up and playing their best baseball come October when everything matters. Anything can happen in the postseason, and any 100 plus win team can go down in flames in an instant.
Notes from the Game:
+ Allan Winans with an ADMIRABLE Outing! 6 1/3 Innings of Work, Allowing 2 Runs on 6 Hits, Walking Nobody and Striking Out 8 en route to an Unfortunate No Decision. He Remains at 1-1, but his ERA drops to 4.50. Did it on 86 Pitches, and was VERY Efficient. Would LOVE to see more outings from Winans like this!
+ Bullpen did an EXCELLENT Job Finishing the Final 2 2/3 Innings! Hand, Minter and Iglesias allowed just 1 Hit while Striking out 3! Brad Hand gets the Win in Relief, Shutting down the Pirates' Threat in the 7th with Two Straight Outs. Hand improves to 4-1 with an ERA of 4.56. Rasiel Iglesias gets his 26th Save of the Season, Allowing just 1 Hit while throwing ONLY 6 PITCHES in the 9th! Minter's ERA stands in at 3.95, while Iglesias is at 2.83.
ROTATION TOTAL: 9 Innings, 2 Runs, 7 Hits, NO Walks, 11 Strike Outs, NO Home Runs Allowed!

The Pirates will return home to the comfy confines of PNC Park to Meet the Washington Nationals for a 4-Game Set.
Patrick Corbin will step up to the Rubber for the Nationals, who's actually had a better year than what others would tell you. He's coming off an Okay August, where he went 2-1 with an ERA of 4.13, but got Bullied by the Mets in his last start, allowing 8 Runs on 7 Hits in just 4 Innings of work.
Meanwhile, the Pirates have NOT YET Decided on who will Start for them.... Huh.

Meanwhile, CHARLIE MORTON will take up Battle Stations for the Braves, Who's coming off an IMPRESSIVE AUGUST, posing a 4-1 Record with an ERA of 1.91, but is coming off a Loss to the Dodgers, where he allowed 2 Runs on 6 hits, but only went 4 Innings.
In Game 2, Michael Lorenzen will take the hump for the Phils, who hasn't looked good since the No-Hitter against Washington, going 1-2 since with an ERA of 8.14, which includes getting BURIED for 7 Runs (6 Earned) on 8 Hits in a 6-Inning Outing against San Diego.
Meanwhile, the Braves Have NOT Decided who will start Game 2. Could we see A.J. Smith-Shawver, Who Last Pitched in the Majors on July 30th against Milwaukee and Got Called back up recently? Could we see Jared Shuster make a Spot Start, who last pitched against the Giants on August 27th? And if that wasn't enough every braves players has double digits homeruns, and on top of all that there are 2 braves players who could be NL MVP.
Only thing that would make this EPIC team move up to LEGENDARY status is to go all the way.

This line up just puts good swings on the baseball, period. A lot of times that ends up being home runs, today it was hard line outs. However, you keep putting good swings on the ball and solid contact good things happen, that's baseball. So too those that say we can't win without hitting home runs I think you have it backwards in your head, we hit home runs because we know how to hit and even if they don't go out of the park it results in winning. See you guys on the world series. 😎

While the offense got a slow start, pitching made sure the Pirates couldn't get too far ahead, long enough for the offense to then click and go to work. Absolutely fabulous win, Olson's cooking again, Acuna is still proving why that MVP trophy belongs to him, Winans saves arms for tomorrows doubleheader against the Phillies. Magic number is now 6, and if we can win both tomorrow, that'll put a serious dent in that number, and keep us ahead for the best record in MLB, ahead of a surging Baltimore (who lost to the Red Sox Sunday).
I don't like how the Pirates seem to be messing with Acuna the last couple of games pitching him way inside...but it was nice to see Acuna get the last laugh today and send the Pirates on their way with a L.

Acuna never runs out ground balls. He cost us the first run by loafing in the out field. Go back and watch the line drive down the right field line by reynolds. No way Bae should have scored from first. Sjould have been standing on second when he smacked one to the wall in the bottom of the seventh. You can see him loafing out of the box like he smaked a homer. Stuff like that makes a difference when your down by a run or in a close game like what we'll see in the playoffs. He's been benched several times for this in the past. Why does he refuse to hustle?

I'm not worried about it in the playoffs like the other guy cause I'm sure Ronnie will go 100% in the postseason but man, it does frustrate me sometimes.

I mean kids watch him and he's exciting sure, but not a good look as a role model. It might not seem like a big deal now because we are winning and have a great bats around him. @@dnttrdonme1776 Honestly, with Acuña, he does things that mitigates any type of miscues. There was one time where Ronald thought he had a home run but it ended up being a long single and he should have been on second. Yes, he screwed up…but the guy’s level did rise and he produced to where the Braves climbed back into that game and they actually had like a two or three run lead but then the bullpen blew the game. After the game, everyone was blaming Acuña for the lost saying that if he would have been on second base on the long single (early in the game mind you), they would have won. Most fans and media glossed over the fact that after the single (that should have been a double) this same “loafer” put the team on his back at multiple points in the game after his base-running miscue. When someone ties the game and then hits a homer to give the team a multiple run lead at the end, that guy absolved himself somewhat. He more than made up for the miscue to the point where it played no part in a lost (tied the game one inning and took the lead late). This was long winded but I get pissed off with Acuña when he doesn’t produce and go into free swinger mode because he’s better than that. His offense and production erases any miscues on his part. Long winded but that’s just me.
