I am about to try Aldi for my regular grocery shopping as Coles are way too expensive. What used to cost me $120 now costs $200. My pension has only gone up by a couple of dollars in the last few years. A small block of cheese used to cost $4-$5 was $7.50 last week now $10. I have to collect bottles & cans and mow lawns to earn enough to pay my bills and eat. If prices go up any further I will have to ask for charity food parcels.
As A Canadian 🇨🇦 looking at those prices, is scaring the crap out of me …. $38 for 1 kg of snow peas and $14 per kg of Brussel sprouts …. Here in Canada it’s like 60-70% cheaper …. Yeah our food prices have gone up too because of inflation but my goodness … those Australian prices is way way way too excessive
I shop pretty much exclusively at Costco and Aldi nowadays but I went into woolies yesterday for chicken nuggets and couldn’t believe the price. $10 a bag for the home brand!
In the past, when large companies have been accused of lying, there was some sort of responsibility taken. Now companies lie with impunity. Just the other day I was in a major supermarket that had only one check out lane managed by a human. The line behind it stretched to the back of the store and contained several older folk crying with pure frustration. The prices have gone up. The service has almost disappeared. Supermarkets are closing their deli counters. Foodland brand bread went up from $2.80 a month ago to $3.00. The workers in the store say to your face, "No, It didn't". Why is it legal to lie these days. Everywhere, lies, lies lies! Is no-one accountable anymore?

@@THEGaLonFamily I am not kidding. I used to be a customs officer in South Africa. Aussie beef is imported 30 000 tons per ship load there. The importers supply chain stores, mostly Checkers, and work at a small margin but big volume. I live in Jpn. Japanese beef is on average about 650 yen for 100 grams. Aussie, American, Mexican and Canadian beef between 158 yen to 298 yen per 100g.
Australians do earn good money, however the prices of food atm are elevated. Some of this is because of drought, or severe flooding depending on what the commodity is, and where it is grown. Also the supermarkets are having a lend of us as well. So I am not paying. We can do without large quantities of meat, won't do us any harm. As for vegetables, some are ridiculously highly priced, but others are not so bad. I don't appreciate being basically held to ransom by the supermarkets. I notice vegetable prices are now starting to come down as crops are coming in after floods. As for meat, the prices are high because the animals are expensive. Farmers are restocking now after drought.

Yes pretty much ALDI as well here! I only go to Woolies or Coles if there’s any on special to buy.
I have started going to Aldi for as much as possible. Some of their duplicate items are exactly the same as the originals. Thank you for the video.
ALDI has good stuff! :)
Wow, your prices are high!!! We can get a Acadia for 59 cents, tomatoes are $3.29 a pound. That’s terrible! I’ll appreciate our stores more now.
