      @@xecillmaze4740 exactly. they hate it when filipinos in films/shows use this accent. i can get on board with exaggeration, but then there ARE filipinos who have this accent. Nevertheless, the accent shouldn't be an issue because chai was playing a character. Unless she sounded nothing like a Filipino. Then there's your bad accent.

    If you just hear Chai her real English accent then you will never realize its a Filipino thats is talking. She was my trainor in Eperformax Cebu in 2011. She’s also a very talented singer. I’m so proud that she is making a name now in Hollywood! I know most of you were asking why her accent in this movie is like that because I think she is just playing of how a typical filipino maid would sound in our native tongue!

Its a movie, like literally a movie so the director wants to to feel the best experience, take Spider-Man as an example, Ned did not have a very strong filipino accent because its a superhero movie, its not that required.

    • @alexkyun1365
      @alexkyun1365 Рік тому +21

      @@JohnroJosephGuaren spot on!
      The problem with the majority of Filipino viewers is that they are fed with the mainstream Filipino media culture that is based in Manila or Luzon in general. So beyond the geographical confines of the aforementioned are always considered to be "peripheral". If the actors are not Tagalog-raised, they will simply resort to implying that the film they're in is not "generic" enough. Filipino mainstream culture is, therefore, exclusive. Si Chai Fonacier is very critical in this issue, especially in Cebuano representation sa mass media. As far as I could remember, she told in an interview na she would rather speak in English if the speaker is Tagalog, pero depende din sa situation.
      What I hope others would see and change is their mentality of Filipino-Tagalog culture as superior to all existing cultures in the Philippines. Sana they will realize that a Filipino culture to be certainly a culture should not focus on the cultures of the ethnic majority or simply where the location of the Capital city is. Rather, Filipino cultures must welcome each unique feature of Philippine culture, be it linguistical and strictly cultural.

It's only the Filipinos who are SO OBSSESSED with having a Western accent, as if having it makes them better in English. I have met so many people with an accent but are amazing English speakers, and so many with a Western accent who don't even know the difference between "your" and "you're". 1.call center agent ka
    2.pinanganak ka sa ibang bansa
    3. O mapagpangap ka na nilalang
    This is a unique filipino accent so ano ba ang big deal at pinaglalaban ng iba jan? Lahat ng bansa my kania kaniang accent and thats ours! Be proud of it kesa mag nagngawa kayo jan. Atleast we can speak and understand english un ang importante not like some of europians at asian countries na nganga!

      JESUS CHRIST is Healer - Matthew 8:16-17 ESV
      That evening they brought to him many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”

    First of all, people. If you are going to interview all of the Filipino OFWs, most of them doesn't have a neutral American accent. The accent is thick and most are self-taught. That is the generic Filipino accent when speaking in English. Have any of you heard how Indian, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean speaks the English language?
    Chai did an awesome acting in this movie. A typical Filipina OFW from the province side of the Philippines (country-side). 💯🔥

    I just watched this and I liked it a lot, but I have a secret crush on Eva Green 😅 so it’s no surprise. Quite disturbing and sad. The story line I wish could’ve been different but I suppose it wouldn’t have worked. Why isn’t there any blame on the guy who locked the gate? Because he died too? He didn’t even have to lock it, he could’ve said ‘yes ma’am’ and left it unlocked, it’s not like she was there very often. I guess it wouldn’t have been much of a story otherwise. It just seems like this kind of story is everyone wants to blame the wrong person when they should accept the blame themselves also.
