    I actually don't recommend buying 3 angels. I did the same before, 1month later the 2 (i think thyre males) are killing each other while the other one doesnt give a f.

      I owned 3 angelfish and they were a tad aggressive in the beginning but they got everything sorted out, 2 of them became a pair and the other one just couldn’t care less. They didn’t get that aggressive since they were in a 175 gallon tank with goldfish and they had a ton of real plants (short and tall) to give each of them their own little space. Also my goldfish were fine with the angels, they angels weren’t aggressive towards the goldfish and goldfish weren’t aggressive with the angels. But it sucks that your angels were all being aggressive towards one another, how large of a tank were they in?

    Bristlenose plecos have such personalities! It was one of my favourite fish in my 33 gallon. The little dude would hop into my filter and spend the night in there and plop back into the tank in the morning.

    Also, who needs a series on how to breed guppies, you get a tank, cycle it, put guppies in, feed them, they breed, done

    I have 5 angelfish with 15 neon tetras and I never had a problem, you just have to put the neon tetras in first and let them grow a bit and then after a couple of weeks add young small angelfish. They are all adult now and the angelfish completely ignore the neons :D 75 gallon planted btw

  • @TySpot1000
    @TySpot1000 7 років тому +3

    Just a little advice when getting Angelfish, it's actually better to get them in even number groups instead of odds. That is because it is possible for the Angel's to pair and leave one left to get pick on. In your case, it is possible that 2 of the 3 will pair, and the one left would will get harassed as the other two try to spawn.

    You should hatch brine shrimp for your dwarf puffer. All your fish would really love it too. And its really cool to watch them eat live food. You can buy the eggs and hatch them in a small 1 or 2 gallon tank.

    Pea puffers dont usually accept flakes or anything like that. They only feed on live bloodworms, artemia and ofcourse small snails. But you might have some chance feeding him frozen bloodworms, that will do.

    I'm utterly delighted that you didn't go to Petco either. Your LFS looks way more advanced and caring than any Petco I've visited. I don't agree with dumping the pet store water in the quarantine tank with/without other livestock. You see, if you encourage that awful habit now, you may never break it when you need to. Keep up the good work little brother!

    Actually, angelfish are "semi-aggressive", many people have them in community tank so not exactly sure why you kind of make it sound like "everyone" say you can't put angelfish with other fish or at least livebearer. With angelfish you just want to make sure you have a good size aquarium 30+ gallon(not 29). Having driftwood and/or plants will also help to provide territory.
    However like with other semi-aggressive fish, as juveniles they are peaceful together, but once they get mature which can take weeks or months, depending on how old they were, they will start to show their aggression and territorial-ness. This is why you have to watch their behavior continuously, since one day you might see a dead one or an injured one. However in James case, he has a 90 gallon tank thus there are a lot of room for the 3.
    Also when it comes to researching, there are many sites out there that DO NOT have the correct information for care. Many beginners fall for this trap and just click the first 1 or 2 websites that pop up. Some websites that are great and reliable are Practical Fish keeping, Seriously Fish and Aquatic Commnity. Forums are also a great site, especially for forums dedicated to a type of fish. However with forums not everyone on the site wil be helpful. UA-cam is also a great site, but make sure you watch a couple. As you can see, you should put in a lot of research before getting your fish, you should use both websites and UA-cam to help you make a choice of whether your're able to keep that type of fish.

      In my opinion, a 29g is okay for an angelfish or two maximum

    • @fum7175
      @fum7175 7 років тому +1

      Al's Critters yeah its not like angelfish move that much.

    • @alscritters156
      @alscritters156 7 років тому

      When they are young they will however when they become adults they are territorial. The reason why they will just stay in one area usually. You can see this especially in planted tanks where they form territories near tall plants. This similar to most territoria fish, for example GBRs are similar to this, they will mainly stay in one area.
      This is why a tank 30+ gallon tank is needed when housing angelfish with other fish. A 29 gallon can fit 1 angelfish, that is if it is the only fish, you could also fit 2 that is if they are breeding pairs. I know some angelfish breeders will use 29 gallons for breeding tanks.

      Yep! Personally, I think that fish usually show the most when they are in a bigger tank than their "minimum". That being said, it always depends on what people think the minimum is! Some minimums are more spacious than for other fish.

    Just watch the angel fish carefully once they mature you have a pretty good chance of getting a pair of angel fish, the pair will bully and beat up the other angel fish. But you could get lucky and get them all to be the same gender so just keep an eye on them.

    Breeding guppies for profit is almost impossible. You have to have new tanks for the fry and the food they need (live foods) which can be very expensive. You also have to consider the cost of the shipping them out to the costumer. Most shipping for live fish/other animals costs at least $20. Your guppies are not worth more than $4. If you really want to breed them you should get show guppies from professional breeders and work at perfecting the strain. I don't mean to be rude, I'm just listing the facts

    • @ChallengetheWild
      @ChallengetheWild  7 років тому

      +Emily LeBuis lol don't worry its more than guppies its shrimp and moss and guppy grass in the same tank breeding

    • @emilylebuis1090
      @emilylebuis1090 7 років тому +2

      Challenge the Wild it still will cost you at least $300 for 3 10 gal tanks if your doing it right. You might just want to take a break or at least slow down. I would recommend letting your tanks establish. I have been in this hobby for 3 years now and I only have 3 ten gal tanks and a 20 gal tank. Again I don't want to be rude but your moving very fast and being very careless with some things. Letting your tank establish would be the best thing for your fish

    • @briannaharter4411
      @briannaharter4411 7 років тому +1

      You only really need live foods when riasing egg laying fishes fry like bettas and goldfish.
      Liverbrearing fry like guppies do fine on crushed flakes cause they are born a lot more developed then egg laying fish.

    • @gfi4495
      @gfi4495 7 років тому

      What are you talking about? You do not NEED live food for guppies, and guppies breed like crazy, same with shrimp.
      Secondly, he can easily walk into a Thrift store and can find.. 10 Gallons, 20.. 50, 90.. Etc.. Even 5s, and 2.5 gallons with everything (heater, light, filter.) All for $20 and less!
      Just the other day my local Thrift shop had a brand new 10 Gallon only for $20 with a cool lid. Now they have a 50 gallon with a stand, for $20.
      Thirdly. He can easily sell the fish locally. All he needs to buy is the correct bag, which are cents.
      Because he is a UA-camr, his market is more out there, compared to others (due to the marketing UA-cam gives him.) So there are gonna be people wanting to buy his guppies regardless.
      I know a 17 Year old girl who has an established business currently... An online plant store, and threw guppies in a bin literally outside during her summer break (keep in mind she is a high school student.) They bred like crazy -- she then advertised her guppies. They ALL sold out.. She was able to ship in HER area, but not outside of Canada. Also because of her advertising from social media she built up 3,000 Instagram followers, she has her own business cards, and her plant demand went from little sales to TRIPLE to where she can't even keep up.
      You can MAKE a profit, if you do it right.

      Because they are expensive and when they are young they are cheaper but still expensive to lose them. Many people like a few at a time.
      I bought 6 dime sized angels at $5 each and lost 4 in the first two days. Not sure what happened water was fine. Still have two.
      Maybe I have columnaris in my tanks and the store/ breeder didn't and they didn't have immunity to it. All 6 struggled had trouble swimming and staying upright, labored breathing, but just the two got through it.
      It's always a gamble with new fish. It gets costly if things go wrong.
