DDP wins because he doesn't get complacent, he is always tuned in and focused and adapts. Having a "style" can be a hindrance. DDP understands that he needs to be 100% activated for the 25 minutes of fighting he has to do. Many fighters leave mentally, DDP doesn't.

DDP's style is actually an african style of fighting. It has a method to it, DDP is special in that he doesn't preplan combinations nor repeat them mindlessly. Izzy and Whittaker are guys who repeat combinations when they're working. DDP uses his left leg as a range finder and even counters the jab with a check hook. None of it looks pretty, but everything is really effective. I don't like people saying he isn't technical. He looks unusual and unco-ordinated is pretty solid everywhere and doesn't even get hit clean to the head.

Combine this with his willingness to train for superior cardio, and you need to beat him with elite level counter punching, or matching aggression. He chooses full aggression, not a measured pace. He nearly takes the sporting aspect out of fighting and actually makes it a real fight. He does not “take turns.“ It’s a simple and effective as that, because almost everyone else in their training “takes turns.“
He lands in such a good position on these takedowns that as he looks to secure the position, he is usually threatening something else. He is forcing his opponents to pick between defending the position or defending the attack simultaneously

Plus he's got kickboxing credentials, so his freaking lead left kick was beautiful to watch. Just something to add for Izzy to look out which he's usually great at not getting hit big anyways with those.
Honestly, I thought Izzy was going to win in the beginning. He looked to be in more control especially in a striking. I feel like he should have gone left hiking a lot more when he was in that South Boston and just circling a lot better
DDP wins because you can't hurt him. Same as almost every MMA battle, the man who keeps getting up is the winner. No matter what you say, DDP's striking is poor but his chin is granite and if you can walk through counter punches it doesn't matter how brilliant your striking is, if the man you're fighting is indestructible.
Izzy has had 8 title wins, the second most in the MW division. Second most at MW. Equal 6th in terms of total title wins. In overall standings, that puts him above this list of fighters with 6 title fight wins each: Stipe, Usman, Rousey, Tito, Volkanovski, Cormier Puts him even with this list with 8 title wins: Shevchenko, Aldo Behind these guys with 9 title wins: Randy, Hughes And quite a way behind Nunes & Silva (11), DJ (12) and Jones (15)
Props to DDP. An awesome first defence. But…. What makes fighters great isnt one fight , ne defense , its the stroy. Look at strickland, one win and then back to the gutter , wont win another title again. DDP is perhaps the toughest fighter in the UFC, but lets pause with all the affirmations. Weve seen how this can go. Just enjoy what he is accomplishing thus far and not push things into the future. He struggled against strickland but weve already forgotten this. Strickland was completely hiumbled by Pereira, lets not forget that and Izzy KOd pereira. My guess is the title will change hands at leat once in the next 6 months. I hope DDPS achievements are not forgotten as people scamper to cloak the next champ is wonder and splendor.
wdym? He beat the shit outta him. Same as Strickland. Its embarrassing how far away from wining any of these two fights Dricus was. I cant remember the last time someone won a belt by getting beat this badly (TWICE). Pretty embarrassing champion.
I honestly believe Strickland won that fight. But it was by no means a robbery, or undeserving of DDP to win. It was THE EXACT type of title fight that deserved an immediate rematch. The fact that DDP didn’t give it to him tell me he doesn’t want that match again either lol
I only see someone like Bo Nickal being a threat to DDP. But don't see anyone else dominating him. Yes a luck KO can happen but in terms of dominating over 5 rounds? Not any middle weight currently. The dream match for me would be DDP vs Bo Nickal. A prime age elite level wrestler unlike Romero, Brunson and even Weidman who are old and past prime athletic age.Lets make Bo vs Izzy right now.
DDP inevitable downfall will be as quick and as sudden as Tony Ferguson. This game is about limiting damage more than winning. I also think he should avoid Sean Strickland because the damage quotient of his last 3 fights will truncate his career. Let someone fight for the interim. DDP needs to fight as infrequent as Khabib.

They probably suggested he start from the bottom and work his way up since all of his opponents are going to obviously want to take him to the ground. To think he’s never been smothered is the dumbest thing ever
@@ivanmedina8362 No man!. The vettori fight, seriously??? To smother someone means to cramp his style, make him look uncomfortable, and out of sorts. Izzy had his space with vettori, and dictated. DDP never gave izzy that privilege. I stick to my point, no one has ever smothered dizzy like that before. I'll give it to you maybe somewhere in training, sparring whatever, but we won't know.
It looked to me Izzy stayed on all fours to give up
It looks like his unorthodox style/timing is just so hard to work out. A good cross between martial arts and scrapping
DDP fights to finish not to win a decision and is why the Strickland fight was hard to score.
Winning is his style.
"my stream was like a balloon" Firaz McGreggor
A Boa doesn't wait for position. If it gets you in its grasp you are fucked. Just like DDP. All you BJJ fancy lads can dance around all you like.
well in his first submission attempt he lost the submission because he did not put his hooks in first. Second attempt he put his hooks in and got the submission so pretty much debunks your mouth breaking argument doesn't it? Position before submission.
@@Aaron-g9b Mouth breaking? You 'position before submission' dorks say strange things.
@@jasonwelsh417 I literally debunked your argument. First submission attempt, went straight for the neck with no hooks and izzy shook him off. Second submission attempt, put hooks in first, got the submission.
@@Aaron-g9b While you are waiting for position the Boa just choked you out. Congratulations.
Pereira didn’t TKO Izzy in a kickboxing match. You don’t need oxygen after a TKO, that was a KO
He TKOd him in ufc and mma .. if you don’t know what you’re talking about then don’t comment
@@damianduplessis7605 no
Izzy also put Alex to sleep in their last fight so yea
@@itsyaboi5488 😂😂😂 you had to say it.
You fight how you train.
DDP is no mystery,
he launches HARD, throws punches in bunches and hits hard so you gotta fear that fire fight. His guard is nice and high and
His chin was very low in this fight too. The Dudes a gorilla. Hes got huge broad high set shoulders so his punches seem a bit laboursome but thats his body type
Plus he's got kickboxing credentials, so his freaking lead left kick was beautiful to watch. Just something to add for Izzy to look out which he's usually great at not getting hit big anyways with those.
12:32 his fathers plan was 30-0.
Yeah. Khabibs father also wanted him to move up to 170. That was father's plan. Khabib retired because of his mother.
No matter what you say, DDP's striking is poor but his chin is granite and if you can walk through counter punches it doesn't matter how brilliant your striking is, if the man you're fighting is indestructible.
imo rd ,1 Dircus, it should always be the guy landing or throwing the harder strikes not pitter patter.
2 of the judges had ddp winning
Izzy gave up because DDP is never gonna respect anything you hurt him with and it broke Izzy mentally that would happen to anyone
South Africans are tough
DDP has leveled up 5 levels in the last match
Look closer - he switches with the intent of throwing the rear kick/punch. Looks awkward but it’s a plan
8:16 DDP didn't land far less - 90 versus Adesanya's 97
Do think Whittaker can beat DDP in the rematch if it happens
Izzy only landed 6 more strikes. I wouldn't call that far more.
it was 7 more.
not sure why you have to lower the number if it's already low. . .
@mmafyasco Total strikes, not significant strikes. Not sure why you have to open your mouth before double checking...
This guys has no clue. Judges don’t give someone a round when the fight ends. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
At the end of the day adesanya has zero ground game
Izzy has had 8 title wins, the second most in the MW division. Second most at MW. Equal 6th in terms of total title wins.
In overall standings, that puts him above this list of fighters with 6 title fight wins each:
Stipe, Usman, Rousey, Tito, Volkanovski, Cormier
Puts him even with this list with 8 title wins:
Shevchenko, Aldo
Behind these guys with 9 title wins:
Randy, Hughes
And quite a way behind Nunes & Silva (11), DJ (12) and Jones (15)
Unfortunately the style bender was anxious to go play golf ⛳️, and he quit and was submitted
No the official scorecard was ddp
Double check
Adesanya looks huge in the cover picture. Thought he was usman
Whittaker is my boy.... but I bet against him....
Cause ddp is different, he wins even though he's tired...
That sealed it for me
Izzy had no chance
Is he not the Rocky Balboa of UFC
Here in South Africa, we have a saying in Afrikaans language: "Hulle weet nie wat ons weet nie", which means, "They don't know what we know".🤭
what do you know? dutchmen are thick
He can hurt ddp if he threw more kicks and knees it's just he's afraid of the takedown
Seems to me DDP is the new GSP.
Drunken gsp
wdym? He beat the shit outta him. Same as Strickland. Its embarrassing how far away from wining any of these two fights Dricus was. I cant remember the last time someone won a belt by getting beat this badly (TWICE). Pretty embarrassing champion.
And still! Izzy got subbed get over it
Nothing awkward about what ddp does. Has it occured to anyone that maybe everyone else is too clean?
I honestly believe Strickland won that fight. But it was by no means a robbery, or undeserving of DDP to win. It was THE EXACT type of title fight that deserved an immediate rematch. The fact that DDP didn’t give it to him tell me he doesn’t want that match again either lol
Dricus pronounced "dree-kus" rhymes with 'knee-kus' or 'freak-kus'
DDP hve good genetics not tony furguson who hve a weak genetics and weak frame ddp has or ready have a brandy and sport drink out plus he got some brand deals plus he can sing etc not like useless tony
DDP won rounds 1,2 and destroyed him in round 4. Clown 🤡
And that why judo miles a head the qucknest of submission
The balllons were killing Me
All this fight talk is getting in the way of my balloon watching.
Why are you touting a guy that KO'd your student?
He has eyes and is honest?
DDP is a guy , that wins ..........for some reason .
Izzy clearly hurt him to the body
What are your thoughts on what’s going on in Europe guys? How do we resolve this without destroying thousand year old cultures?
