Awesome job!! I just sold 2 of my semi trucks after 16yrs of driving as a owner operator. I just brought a bobcat and dump trailer, getting ready for my new adventure.
I don’t blame you for not driving a truck anymore the roads are getting crazy. Good luck on your new adventure. In my are it is a tuff go at it because everyone has skid steers and it is cut throat here in my are.
This comment was a sign for me , I just sold my semi truck and trailer and been looking into skid steer business with a dump trailer. Looking forward to this new business. Good luck on the journey brother.
Awesome video! I enjoy all your wisdom. I’m looking for all the help I can get on getting started in the business. The university of UA-cam seems to be it. You got subscription professor. Lol
Thank you for watching and commenting. Yea I told him we should remove the grass but he didn’t want to and he said he is going to do something later. He just needed the space to park cars. Take care and stay safe
I've been trying to get into light excavation work as well. I think it would do well in a city but I'm in a more rural area and everyone and their brother has a skid steer or knows someone that does so they just do it themselves.
Thank you for watching and commenting. I totally understand what you are talking about. My area is flooded with so many skid steers and mini excavator so it’s getting harder to get jobs. Good luck and thank care and stay safe
Best regards, great video, what is the name of the material you are placing, I would like to know how to learn how to do the calculation to charge for that type of work
Hi thank you for watching and commenting. It is crushed concrete. There are free material calculators on google so all you need to do is plug in the dimensions and the thickness of the driveway or parking area and then it will give you the tons of material you will need. Or it will give you the yards of material you would need. Then you divide that total by how many yards or tons that the dump truck in your area can haul then that will tell you how many loads you need. I hope that helps. As for price I don’t make anything off the materials I just charge the customer what ever the dump truck charges then I charge for my time. I do min 200.00 even if it only takes me 30 min then I do 400. For a half day and 800 for full day. That’s a good starting point tell you do a few jobs and learn how long it takes you to do the work then adjust as needed. Plus it depends on your area. You can only charge what someone is willing to pay. Take care and stay safe out there.
@@michaelsfabwork2985 Thank you for your great response and explanation, sorry for responding late, you really are a great help and motivation, I'm in Houston
Just out of curiosity are you using a phone or a go pro to video. I think it would be a cool view to see a go pro mounted to the top of the skid steer. They’re good with canceling out vibrations as well.
Hi. Thank you for watching and commenting. I use both a iPhone and a GoPro. In the videos where I’m running equipment I use the GoPro. I try to just record and drive my truck and with the iPhone it doesn’t come out good at all. I thought about putting it on the outside of the skid steer but I need to get a mount for that. I do want to try that some time. Take care and stay safe.
Thank you for watching and commenting. It takes some set time to get it. I’m still not the best but just remember you can keep moving that dirt or rock around till it looks good. Practice practice practice is the only way to get good.
Thanks for your time, I definitely need more seat time, I’ve been scared to seek out jobs knowing I’m just learning having to charge less just to get some experience
@@tsh30039 don’t sale yourself short. Just having the equipment cost money. I try to charge 250.00 minimum and 400.00 half day and 800.00 full day that’s 8 hrs. If you bid a job for a set price just try to figure how long it will take you. You will make good money some jobs and not so good on others. But if you look at like this. 400.00 in a day at 5 days a week that’s 2000.00. That should pay you bills and notes and insurance and everything. I’m not say just change that but I’m saying if you can average that a day for a week you can make it. Then the more you do the better you get at biding jobs the more you can make. So don’t sale yourself short. Take care and I hope this helps you. Where are you located?
Thank you for commenting and watching. Im sorry you feel that way but pricing all depends on where you are located and what people are willing to pay. You say people like me are what other contractors hate. If you could elaborate on what you mean that would be great. Is 100.00 a hour to much or not enough please elaborate on that as well. I hope you have a good day and stay safe out there.
DEPENDS WHERE YOU LIVE... SMALL TOWNS WHERE COST OF LIVING IS CHEAP, $100 AN HOUR MIGHT WORK...BUT IF IN A BIGGER CITY...YOU GOTTA MAKE $1500 A DAY TO COVER COSTS AND MAKE A GOOD LIVING...THESE HEAVY MACHINES DO A HUGE AMOUNT OF WORK IN SHORT TIME SO ITS LOGICAL TO CHARGE ACCORDINGLY
