James Madison couldn’t stop the fullback dive
It’s hard. When the back came to play, it’s hard to stop em when you’re on your heals worried about attacks to the outside from the pitch man.

Air Force looked on point I expected a bit more from James Madison
Well……..this was JMU’s first non conference opponent with a winning record. Now they know what they need to work on. And honestly, it’s hard to defend the Flexbone if you’re not loaded with 5 and 4 star recruits or you run the same offense yourself.
JMU's overrated.
Good experience for James Madison - it's great that they got to play in a bowl game despite technically being ineligible. And they got an idea of how far they still have to go in order to become a true mid-major conference power.
And their brothers-in-arms Jacksonville State hot themselves a bowl and a win as well
I know the playoffs is new and of course interesting as it decides the national champion, but I still love the bowl games.

Don’t ever sell a service academy’s option attack short, especially when you don’t ever see it. Much better prepared teams like ND have a hard time with it, and they see it every year.
I like how people think the academies are cupcakes, but blue blood schools have some of their hardest defensive games against them when they have a good squad, lol.
This offense gives everyone fits but when you got better talent in there than usual with guys like Michel, larrier, and eldridge they are definitely a top 25 team. Also air force has had a great defense.
In high school we ran the same offense as the AF. I hated the wing-T. Non-passing offense.

It’s the only way the service academies can compete at the FBS level. They don’t get 5 and 4 star recruits. Even 3 star players are rare. So you run the triple option which is not reliant on having the biggest, strongest, or fastest players. All you need is some athletic ability and discipline to run the offense to perfection.
I love the triple option offense. I’ve coached it for years the best part is watching defensive coordinators go nuts because how they prepared is just not working how they thought. When you get the defense fighting with each other than you got em. It’s so great to use underdog players and beat a good team.

Great coaching and execution by AF today! Congrats to JMU, a 10+ win season is always a great achievement, as well as getting a bowl game. I hope some of those followers who were posting on here after the UConn game, will learn a little today on why big D1 programs were ranked & continued to be ranked ahead of a much smaller school who just does not have the depth nor strength of schedule to compete with them.

AF still using Fisher DeBerry option offense like 30 years ago
That offense is from Ken Hatfield. He believed if AF could run the ball for 35 minutes or more, score a touchdown per quarter, you simply win games. You're not going to get 4 and 5 star players and teams simply have better athletes. But this scheme requires discipline and complete team execution at the line and on the outside. Players need to be in top shape as well to compete with bigger schools. In the last 4 decades, it's proven to be a great formula for AF, NAVY AND ARMY.
GREAT GAME BOTH TEAMS BUT AIR FORCE TOOK THIS ONE GOT THE DUB AND BEAT JMU FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP CHAMPIONSHIPB AFU HAD A GOOD OFFENSE 100YDS EEN PASSING WHEN THEY DID PASS THE BALL OR 100+MAYBE THREW THR AIR 100+YDS RUNNING MAYBE 150+YDS RECEIVING OR BETTER IF IM NOT MISTAKEN GOOD JOB AND THE DEFENSE PLAYED GOOD/SOLID HOLDING THE JMU TO AN SOLID ODD 21 PLAYED PHYSICAL DEFENSE PUT PRESSURE ON THE QB GOOD JOB ALL AROUND AND JMU CAM OUTBPLAYED HARD TRIED TO COME BACK COULDNT FINISH THE GAME BUT STILL SHOWED UP PLAYED THEIR HEARTS OUT PLAYED TILL THE LAST WHISTLE THATS GOOD IN MY BOOK AND SCORED 21 PTS GREAT GAME BOTH TEAMS

You’re not wrong. JMU even brought in some extra coaches who supposedly specialize in stopping the option. Didn’t work out too well for them. It also didn’t help that Air Forces starting QB came back. All 4 of AF’s losses were without him.
That was a fun game. I wish BYU, Air Force, Utah State, Boise State and some other old rivals would get together but I don't think it'll happen.

I noticed the ratings were 2.5 million (very good) but of course they don’t take into account the viewership from military installations across the globe or from the homes of Air Force veterans; I’m sure the total numbers with those included would be around 10 million.

Four coaches? The interim coach brought in extra coaches that specialized in option defense for this bowl game. Their defense was intact, AND they had their awesome QB who could have sat the game out. Take the L and get ready for next year.

JMU got so much hate for losing this game. 10 points isn’t all that much when compare to other games. It wasn’t a blowout, it was their first bowl game, and they lost their head coach. Everyone dissing JMU for losing the game are just haters.
They were done at 31 - 14. That last TD JMU scored was at garbage time.

You don't think a team that was 11-1 whose only loss was to an 8-4 App State team, in overtime, deserved to go bowling? The rule was, we got a slot after all the other six-win teams got picked. There were enough slots. We got in. We lost. End of.

yes, the air force academy is the college for the air force in the us. theres colleges for all of the service branches. everyone enrolled in these colleges are members of that branch
