      Mehak Fatima Mehak Fatima hello dear!! I have not heard of orange benefits for skin, either eaten or applied. Vitamin c is however very helpful. Instead of eating orange juice try eating the entire orange as it has more fiber. Also for skincare, try looking for a vitamin c product that is in a bark bottle

    VIDEO NOTES
    Cleansers:
    -purpose is to remove oil, dirt on your skin and cleanse
    -cleansers can penetrate to the skin if they have an active ingredient (i.e. salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, vitamin c)
    -use oil based cleansers if you wear makeup, but use another cleanser after that one b/c you don’t want to leave oil on your skin
    -how often you cleanse depends on your skin - recommended 1-2 times per day
    -use your products the way they’re packaged!
    Exfoliation:
    -physical exfoliaters use chemicals for removing cells; have an acid and sometimes small particles which can help with acne
    -manual exfoliaters use beads and your own hands to remove cells
    -use after cleansers 1-2 times per week
    Toners:
    -helps even out skin’s pH level and rebalance
    -preps your skin to help other products work better
    -not necessary but good for large pores or blackheads
    -alcohol toners and hydrocuinote aren’t good
    -witch hazel and aloe vera are good and so are antioxidants
    Serums:
    -have a powerful concentrate that promotes a benefit to your skin
    -have small molecular structures which really help for different skin problems
    -research your specific skin condition and find the correct ingredients that will help your skin type
    -use a serum before moisturizer
    Moisturizer:
    -act as a shield to protect skin from environment and lock in moisture
    -moisturizers aren’t evil if you have acne
    -gels are lighter and permeate better
    -lotions create a barrier and are more hydrating
    -dymethicone and silicone aren’t good in moisturizers
    Spot treatments:
    -are meant to target a certain problem
    -look for active ingredients and glycolic or lactic acid
    -use at night
    Eye creams:
    -target wrinkles or fine lines
    -don’t use any eye creams with active ingredients or petroleum or mineral oil
    Masks:
    -peel off masks peel off the top layer of skin
    -sheet masks act like a serum - you want to pat in the serum after removal
    -tea tree can help acne or scars
    -clay based for oil removal
    -you can mask once a day or one to two times a week
    Sunscreen:
    -protect from sun
    -chemical sunscreens can be more damaging to your skin
    -physical sunscreens are mineral based and can be better for skin; they reflect light away
    -should be last step in routine and applied once a day

    Can you explain why mineral oil and petroleum are “terrible” for your skin? I have been told by dermatologists that they are not harmful, but helpful.

    • @mysticcow9621

      Yeah, my dermatologist recommended me to put Vaseline on my dry areas.

    • @julianadiaz9811
      @julianadiaz9811 4 роки тому +5

      If you have very very dry skin petroleum can lock your skin from losing hydration but it can clog your pores too. make sure the product’s that you use are cruelty free 😉

    • @shulsyt5933
      @shulsyt5933 4 роки тому +2

      They are not bad. The issue is that they are very cheap ingredients that companies often use as fillers. If you see mineral oil in an expensive moisturizer, it's often a rip-off. It can also clog pores for some people with oily skin.

    A question. Are there skincare ingredients we should not mix. I’ve heard so many things about vitamin c and niacinamide not going well together and I’ve made the mistake of applying both. It burns. Redness. Ouch. But other things like AHA BHA with vitamin c. Or retinol and acids? Or antioxidants and acids? I’ve seen so much controversy over what is safe and what is not. Or which chemicals cancel each other out. I’m not too advanced in chemistry to figure this out on my own 🤯 but I’m interested...thank you!

    • @quianaelle
      @quianaelle 4 роки тому +5

      Brett Karsten this is a year late, but here goes. You can use niacinamide with vitamin c. If you have sensitive skin, then you may have an adverse reaction. In this case, you can alternate the use of vitamin c and niacinamide. Also be sure you’re not using any other actives with the vitamin c.
      Aha and bha should not be used with retinol. Or combined with vitamin c.

    Mineral oil is fine for most people, specially if it's an ingredient on a product and not stand alone. It's just some particular people that react to it and its easy to find out since you can buy pure mineral oil or vaseline at any drugstore. Haven't read anything pointing otherwise, and I use a lotion with it every single night which doesnt cause me breakouts (vanicream light lotion).

    Love this channel ❤️. My skin is usually dry when I wash it. But after I apply my moisturizer, sometime later the pores seem perforated and kinda big. The skin starts looking dull. If you could share any tips, it would be of great help. Thank you.

    • @auliareski
      @auliareski 5 років тому

      What's your skin type? If you use moisturizer that doesn't match your skin type, it won't do anything good basically. Let's say, you have normal-oily skin, don't use cream-based / oil-based moisturizer as it's too thick for skin type and may clog the pores which makes your skin looking oily and dull then. Try to use gel-based moisturizer as it's less thick and it's easy to be absorbed into skin.
      Oh and it's also important on how you apply the moisturizer, try to tap your skin multiple times after applying it. It will help the absorption into skin better.

      Dark spots or hyperpigmentations are formed in our skin when it is trying to protect it's already wounded places from damage that is caused by sunlight. So, protect yourself from sunlight by using sun protection, especialy on places you have acne. But also have in mind that type of sunlight that is mostly causing dark spots is blue light. Non nano zinc oxide is one of few supstances that can protect you from blue light. So, make sure that your sunscreen contains non nano zinc oxide, otherwise it won't prevent dark spots. This helped me prevent my dark spots. I hope this could be helpful to you as well. Good luck!

    Do you think rose water can be used instead of a cleanser Cassandra? I have a lot of clogged pores and am currently trying simple routines. I wake up, use rose water to clean my face and apply moisturiser. Throughout the day I wear no make up and in the evening I use rosewater again. It seems to work for me somehow, I am having less breakouts.

    For sensitive skin is is recommended to only wash your face at night. I personally will wash my face in the morning with lukewarm water because I
    Use a night firming cream since I'm over 50 and if I'm going out I want to put on some moisturizer with SPF. I use apple cider vinegar with water as a
    toner twice a day instead of a store bought toner that contains chemicals that are too harsh for sensitive skin. BTW the smell goes away once it dries
    and you don't have to rinse it off. BTW for sensitive skin it is recommended to use any kind of masks and peels only once a week. You need to stress that
    for people with sensitive skin. Thanks. Sunscreens for sensitive skin are best for those who maybe somewhat sensitive to sunscreen.

    When do you used the good oils like tea tree or jojoba? Is that more of a moisturizer or serum?

    What about vitamin D and sunscreen? I mean can sunscreen prevent from getting enough of it? 🤔 I'm not sure how that works.

    Hi Cassandra. This Moisturizer from Murad has dimethicone very high up on the list. Is this a random example or do you recomend it anyways?
