  • Pretty stoked to have climbed and summited my first 14er in Colorado, Mt Yale. What a great hike / run. This is a great 14er if you have never done one before. The mileage is definitely manageable and if you've prepared well it should be a rewarding experience. There is some level 2 scrambling at the top, but again, totally manageable even if you haven't done much scrambling before. Basically, level 2 scrambling is just hopping over rocks.
It's important to take your time and conserve energy in the first couple of miles, because you'll need that energy later. Slow down and take breaks as needed. Unless you live at high elevation your breathing will be much more labored.
Be prepared for weather. Check the forecast and don't be surprised if rain/thunder/lightning storms move in quickly, particularly in the late summer months.
I had a great experience and was surprised there weren't more people on the trail, it being Labor Day.

I'd recommended Quandary if you want another easier one. kind of a longer hike, but it doesnt get that steep until the last 1.5-2 miles

Thanks for watching. You'll love it. Hopefully it's a mild wildfire season and you can see more of the views from the top than I did.
