Farming with these wonderful animals is so much quieter than mechanized farming. You hear are the commands of the farmer and the metallic sounds of the equipment, but no machines or engines. Nice!
Very amazing animals. Extremely powerful and strong. I love the dark red flaxen chestnut's colour. I am sad about their tails though. You can see them instinctively twitching their tail stumps trying to swish flies away but they don't have any tail so they can't. Many places in Europe and North America have banned the practice of tail docking thankfully. Most farmers now simply trim the hair on the tails if they need to keep the hair out of the harness, this way the horse's tail is left intact and he can still swish flies.
Good job. Saving petrol and costly equipment. The man works hard and control the monsters. They are well trained. May God bless your efforts and harvest 100 fold. Amen
Freja Bruus for heavy working draft horses that is for their safety. I think they could leave some on for swatting flies but I know it's fir their safety so the tail doesn't get caught in anything.
You could just braid it, no need at all for cutting it for off... There are people who use them for farm work, who doesn't cut off their tails. And why is it that cariagge horses do have their tails if this was so important?
Edward Sarah Matthews That logic doesn't seem to hold water. Here in Denmark we also used heavy draft horses and most had their tails cut off, while other farm horses that did the exact same work didn't, and suffered no accidents because of it. I think it's an old tradition that got stuck. Farmers can be very conservative, regarding old customs like that.
Most people do not realize the training and patients it took to prepare these work horses to do what this farmer is doing, it is very impressive. Dedicated people who still want to keep alive the skills of their Fathers and Grandfathers are to be commended.
True. One of the things you see here is the ability of those horses to stand still and not move at all without anyone having to hold them. The work horse must learn to do that.
Absolutely beautiful, so inspiring and joyous to watch, I know for them all this is just work, making a living but how things ought to be and they all look so content ( The horses I mean!) thank you so much.
In the 90's, I worked at the State Fair in California. They brought in Budweisers Clydesdales, the biggest one was named Bud. He was enormous, but every morning before the Fair would open a little girl about 9 or 10 years old, would ride him around bareback!
Respected sir, I have one suggestion to redesign your cart, your work will become easier. At the basement of cart. You put double floor iron sheets. The upper floor will have holes as per as your need. The lower level will have plain floor to block the cow dunk. Keep distance of 10cm with each other. Whenever you want to use for cow dunk , first put floor with holes on upper portion and plain sheets at the below. fill the cart with cow dunk. Remove plain floor sheets , cow dunk from holes will fall automatically. For making holes, you must play with size of holes. You keep longer stick in your hand keep breaking the larger size cow dunk. With this technique you can sprinkle the cow dunk as well your cart design will not be distrub. Thanks for this vedio. I can show to my country people. Sir, if you want to use lesser iron sheets, use only middle part. Make holes in middle part. The two wheels will remain clean. Namh shivay.
@@shantanu-tarapuriya I think he might still be using horses even today, actually! Modern machines are so incredibly commonplace on commercial farms over here that I feel like it was a conscious choice of this farmer to go for horses.
@@shantanu-tarapuriya I know, I'm from the Netherlands and I lived in Belgium for 3 years 😅 If you watch his other videos, you can see he is trying to show that you can be a modern farmer while still being eco conscious. I like horses very much. Here in india, we have very strong ox (pure white and slim. We call them khillar. They mainly found in Maharastra, karnatka states). They looks very very beautiful when they are young.
It would be.ancient time where horses are used to cultivate field, now a days modern tractor, thresher, harvesting machine is used. But horses are looking very comfortable, cooperative during working routine work.
I use bulls but today I saw horses while plowing. The ploues are also made in a different way. One can sit on the plough. It is definitely very interesting.
I am from Australia and am very intrigued by the three wheel wagon. I would like to build one using a car trailer. Essentially adding the front jockey wheel. what is the diagram of how this wheel was made and does it have a particular technical name so I can track down a similar one here in Australia or at least have one made. Great horses love to watch them work. What is the name brand of the plow great piece of equipment.
Beautiful, well trained horses. I’m no draft horse expert but I’m pretty sure the tails should at least be long enough to protect the vulva from dirt, bugs, etc.

Yes, perhaps in parts the horses are obedient because they are afraid of the sharp curb-bit which may cause a lot of pain in their mouths when they don`t do the things required. --- In addition I am very sad/angry because of the missing tails - they need them badly for the protection against the insects and for their genitals (rain, snow, hail) and to make themselves understood to the world around them. The special law for the protection of the draft horses is obviously missing respectively should be updated and obeyed (!) to immediately.
So amazing see such pure raw power of these animals being so cooperative and docile. Truly a wonder to watch.

natural way of life. very amazing. but sadly is that their tails are no longer there. actually its cruel
In Belgium, where this video is made, tail docking is now forbidden.

Where are their tails? How to keep the bugs/insects away without a tail?
hoekandat most work horses or shires tails are docked so then they don’t get in the way I’m sure in the field they wear fly rugs or something
