Twiggy was so young yet she created a "color" of her own. On a side note, I am loving these throwbacks honoring the early supermodels. Keep them coming Vogue!
Twiggy is the most extraordinary example of an iconic beauty who looks as beautiful in 2023 as she did in 1966. Too many of her contemporaries have butchered their faces while she remains radiant.
What I have always loved about Twiggy is that she really was never anything exceptional to look at physically. She had amazing style and knew how to make the most out of it. Ladies, even if you aren't the most beautiful woman in the room you can still be the most amazing woman in the room. Find your style and rock it. Stop shopping off the clearance rack at the Dress Barn and getting cheap haircuts.
@@jm7804 wrong. She was considered exceptional at the time. She was thin and blonde and had an eccentric face which was also considered very beautiful at the time. Today people are so used to cosmetically enhanced bodies that nothing seems impressive anymore.
@@SocialExperiment232 Wrong about what? There was probably never a more polarizing super model than Twiggy. You either thought she was beautiful or looked like a boy in a dress, and there were plenty of people who thought that. Her modeling career fizzled out after 4 or 5 years. That's a fact. She was exceptionally photogenic. And she was just one of those people who had great style. That was my entire point. Style is what makes you stand out.
@jm7804 Same with Hollywood musicals' star, Cyd Charisse. Her charm was her lithe movement, those legs and they way she could slink across the screen oozing femme fatale. Her face was not remarkable . Her dance style took her to the extraordinary, all the more incredible because she had polio as a child.
She has pretty neotanous features too like small face, big eyes and raised eyebrows so that probably helped her age better than most with sharper/ stronger features that are considered more mature like high cheekbones, low set eyes and eyebrows and a long face etc
My Mum loved her looks, she would have been the same age as Twiggy now. She used to tell me her and her friends were obsessed with her covers and would saw their wardrobe based on what the cover showed, not all brands were accessible to my Mum but the cuts, shapes and accessories were so she was always crafting away.
I'm so glad to see someone with wrinkles, embracing aging! and she looks phenomenal! And her charisma and amazing personality comes through in this interview as well. Beautiful!!
The 1967 image despite being 56 years older, still is a better quality photo than the new one...smh, we're really losing talent when it comes to photography. Too much computer editing nowadays.
Yeah just like films with the AI and CGI models were naturally photogenic as she said sure they take a bunch of photos and pick the best of many and they were lighting and angle experts but no Photoshop etc. no slimming her down she was naturally slender. Now people don't even believe photos assume they are retouched I remember the memory was full on my phone I couldn't use any effects and some still thought maybe my pics were altered because that's so common now.
Most of the letdowns for the new photo is how desaturated it is. You could actually use editing to add saturation and even a bit of a film grain like the original and it would be miles better
Film is soooooooo different than digital. Digital does not have nuance. With film, richness of colors and shadows were absorbed in the image. Digital is nothing but a record-keeping medium of "I was here and this is what I was doing."
Met her backstage at the Colonial Theatre during her run of “My One And Only” with Tommy Tune, back in the early 80’s. She signed the Playbill for my grandmother, who’s name was Nellie. “My Mom’s name is Nellie, too!” Wished she’d won a Tony for that play (Tommy did), cause she SLAYED it. Quite the singer, and a petite, generous, and adorable Luv Bug inside and out🐞 ❤
Videos about the muses of the 60s would be incredible, Pattie Bowd would be a great choice, she was a muse for so many men and women, including Twiggy herself
@@umeshvaghjiani822 Yes, her cheeks aren’t stuffed with fillers and implants and her nose hasn’t been turned into a plug socket by 'refinements'. So, yes.
I finally found the girl who always appears on my Pinterest and who every now and then posts on my Instagram page with retro things! Thanks Vogue for this!!! I love vintage and retro things!
Never realised she had such incredible eyes. Yeah I know she's wearing makeup, but her eyes themselves are so clear and bright - they are a big part of her beauty. As others have said - she's aged beautifully, with grace, style and no obvious cosmetic intervention.
Seventy years young, here. Twiggy was, of course, the model of the day when I was 13-14. Unfortunately, she was, indeed, a "Twig" and I was a blossoming "Mae West", or classic curvy girl in a "Twiggy" world, This really did impact my body image, setting off a virtual life time of angst. It wasn't until I researched Twiggy, a few years ago, that I realized she became much more than who she was way back then. She wasn't stuck in a poor body image world so why should I be. Wow. That said, it didn't make shopping any easier in 1966. There was no way to shop in a "5-7-9" store when I was a size 13-14. Once you got to those larger sizes, you were stuck with matronly, not hip, clothing choices.
Wow she's beautiful, literally she seems even more beautiful to me here than in her young photoshoots because she gives off such a warm, lighthearted, down to earth vibe. Normally I don't like the modelling or fashion industry but her warmth of mannerisms and positive spirit here made this a beautiful and interesting video to watch.
It's that distinct English Rose look combined with this sort of, if you will, European elegance and humbleness for ME **in my fake British accent**!!! LOL
I was in 7th grade and when Christmas arrived I had to have Yardley makeup because Twiggy wore it! We loved Twiggy and she brings back a lot of wonderful memories!!!
Oh my, Twiggy captured the cool spirit of the sixties at such a young age! All-natural beauty with a little help of make-up. I have a t-shirt with her face and I love it. So lovely to see how down-to-earth and beautiful she is now. Of course she must be celebrated!
Absolutely refreshing to see a celebrity who has aged gracefully without any (noticeable) cosmetic surgery! She looks wonderful!!
I read her books, & she has never had any cosmetic surgery, at all.
She doesn't even seem to have botox. Her face is fully animated and moving.
@@Fashn4LaDieSYeah but most celebrities lie 😂
@@kdms.3377all of them lol
@@Fashn4LaDieS Yes, I did too and she has had none.
She aged phenomenally holy cow
You mean “naturally” 😅 Or at least much more natural than other model her age 😂
She most definitely has! Beautiful, beautiful woman!
And your day will come. Carry yourself well. Twenty to seventy is a fine step. Hope you feel it.
How are people not realising that this is a compliment?
She really did! Amazing, when I was younger I cut my hair like Twiggy!
Twiggy was so young yet she created a "color" of her own. On a side note, I am loving these throwbacks honoring the early supermodels. Keep them coming Vogue!
Wdym by created a color of her own?
@@Snailmail1 Created her own color.. her own essence. Meaning her style was very individual to her.
Yes, even in grade school we tried to look like her. So cute and lovely memories.

Really? She looks awful.
her forehead dont move. She made clever decisions on plastic surgery, probably avoided any trends.
She is so humble. Love to see her still getting recognition in 2023 and I loved watching her on America's Next Top Model.
Twiggy is still fabulous to look at and her personality is so down to earth .It is really lovely to see.
Majesticness never goes away ❤

Dig those 60’s fashion. So cool .

This is magical! She carried herself through the years being herself, she has that smile that never faded
Twiggy WAS THE fashion face of the 60's for the youth gen. It was a decadent and delicious decade.

She just has the best vibes 😂 I think it keeps her young how chill her energy is

I agree with you! I believe the more technology we have, the more that can go wrong!
The quality of everything in the new photo is so much lower. Down to the makeup, hair, jewelry, and clothes.

It’s just amazing to see how some people live so ahead of their time
she is SO down to earth! Love her
She's a very cheerful person, which I'm sure added immeasurably to her appeal.

Amazing to see Twiggy so active even now
