"The Slauerhoffbrug (English: Slauerhoff Bridge) is a fully automatic bascule bridge (aka tail bridge)[1] in the city of Leeuwarden in the Netherlands. A tail bridge can quickly and efficiently be raised and lowered from one pylon (instead of hinges). This quickly allows water traffic to pass while only briefly blocking road traffic." "This *quickly* allows water traffic to pass while *only briefly* blocking road traffic." ...yeah right.
The 18 bridges in Chicago takes at least 10 minutes to cycle for a single boat. They tend to wait until multiple boats group up so the time is usually more like 15-20 from start to stop. 6 minutes is lightning fast.
Very interesting, very nice form of art. Many might think it's not important but it is. One thing though, and I see this elsewhere too. What is with those damn lights waiting so damn long to stop flashing red? Everyone ignores it because those lights are wrong. Gates to up and you're good to go. What's with the hold up?
it's just for safety. Officially you have to wait until the lights are out, in case the bridge opens again or a malfunction occurs. We also have these warning lights at a train crossing, as long as they are not off, the barriers may go down again because another train is about to pass. You can even get a fine for it.
Flinke vliegenmepper. Kunnen ze dat ding aan de onderkant niet opschilderen als een pizzadoos? ¨Hier had uw advertentie kunnen staan¨. Leuke brug, hoe dan ook.
Everyone hating on the slow design, how camera rotates, blah blah blah. Obviously people dont look at anything other than judgement. I think its cool, may have no real reason of existing, but at least its different.
All good but why you flipped your camera left than right… hard to watch… now I am flipping my phone like idiot… that’s why I will never watch that video fully…
About 80x larger than it needs to be for the amount of road it's moving, for that it's WAY slower than it needs to be, and doesn't even look that good.
This is insane!!! I feel like it was engineered by Disney! So cool!
almost broke my neck
nah, what blew my mind is the fact that only the scooter waited for the lights to stop flashing before proceeding, everyone else didn't lmao
I ain't breaking the law when I'm carrying drugs
What really blows your mind is the way this recording its switching between horizontal and vertikal filming.. 😮
Now, that’s a cool bridge
This is on my daily commute but I'm terrified of it lmao

Transformer style bridge👏👏👏
Got here from Feral Irishman!
I am not an engineer, so I’m sure there’s a logical and obvious answer, but why not build the bridge higher?
Waarom? Gewoon omdat het kan! Prachtig!

Huge fly swatter
Love it!

There must have been at least a thousand ways that this could've been done easier. Looks nice, but why?
There is counterbalance so I think is low power consumption other than that I don’t se reason
@@sosek1866 every bridge like this has counterbalances tho u might not see them

I'm betting it was designed by someone who operated a forklift while putting himself through university.

wow
why?
So that boats don't lose everything on their deck or their masts because the bridge is to low.
het ontwerp vind ik erg lelijk

wat een "Bullshit" 7 min.wachten als het ook in 3 min.kan!!
Very over engineered solution. But if the country got the money to to create expensive projects that solve simple problems…go for it.
so.....?
Ugly design
zielig
You're jealous mate! The Dutch are worldwide known as best bridge makers in the world 🌍
Je bent zelf ugly, lekker puh.
Who has an ugly design? You? I agree
