    Hopefully ya'll read this so you can know how happy my wife and I are that we found your channel. We are 22 & 23, and I am currently active duty in the USMC. We have recently purchased a 36 foot National Dolphin and are planning on going full time! Your channel has been a huge help to us and really encouraged us. As well as seeing an awesome dynamic couple that survived the stresses of the military on marriage. We truly are looking forward to pursuing a grand adventure like ya'll. I really like ya'll's content about living frugally and would love to see more of it! Thanks again for the wisdom!

We had ups and downs just like everyone else but we never gave up. We always put in the work to keep it going and today we are happier than ever. You guys can do it too!

    Great video, informative.
    1. Agree absolute waste of money for extended warranty, especially with Tiffin, they fix anytning/everything, even out of warranty.
    2. US postal service, they scan our mail, we're in bricks and sticks, it's free and they just started promoting it.
    3. I agree, don't talk to us while setting up, or hooking up the car, that's where the mistake comes.
    4. Not sure if you know this. You mentioned radio or cell when backing. On the back up camera on the dash, third icon bottom right is volume up, speak in a normal voice at rear of the rig to direct the driver.
    5. Chris Berry, just out side Red Bay, will build you a pull out 30" counter top, it goes just above the three pull out drawers. We have RED 37PA, pull out counter is beautiful, not expensive. He put nice liquor cabinets above fire place, and pantry, in cabinets in hall way that back up to shower.
    I would send pics but dont have FB or IG.
    Be safe, keep your videos coming.
    Todd and Renee

      We did know about the sound through the backup camera but so many people say it is hard to hear anyone over the engine that we never actually tried it. I also heard about the USPS scanning mail but I read about so many problems with the new service that we were holding out on this one. Hopefully you havent had any problems.

    You can be enrolled in the VA healthcare system (and I recommend it even if you don't make a lot of use through them) and maintain your private health care. All it takes to stay active with VA is one yearly visit, and like you said that can be anywhere nationwide. My father and I are both in VA, and they just covered his 44,000 dollar hip replacement surgery 100%. Between VA and Medicare he's set, and I'm not that old yet but they take care of me just fine.

    Mail forwarding: We have used smaller post offices (General Delivery) to send our mail to. I use the USPS website to make sure the Post Office has general delivery and send it to them usually a couple days before we are going to be there. I then sometimes stop by and tell them I have a General Delivery package coming, never had a problem. I made the mistake once and sent to General Delivery in Tucson. It's a huge post office and it took them a while to find it, never again. I only use small ones. Just a second option when needed.

    Extended warranty .... peace of mind for me. I used mine already three times and already paid it self 2/3 of what I paid. Just like auto insurance, we don't need them, but nice to have them when needed. I know we're force by law to have them, but really not needed. Great video.

    1:21 - Phil was very apprehensive about driving something that big.. You guys should do a detailed video from the first time of trying to navigate (drive) the RV (along with the tow vehicle attached) and how you actually learned or practiced on how to drive it in tight conditions. And, any tips and tricks for learning.

    Re: Extended Warranties.
    The “Route 66” 5 year extended warranty saved me almost 10k when I had my Class A. It saved me 4k in month 1 and 7k in year 3 of the extended warranty when I had my 5th wheel. It also paid for 20 nights (total) in a 4 star hotel during the repairs of my 5th wheel. Everyone says they’re not worth it…if they’ve never used them. The minute you need them, they’re amazing! I just bought a 2020 Travel Trailer and got the 5 year Route 66 again. If I don’t need it, fine…it’s peace of mind for me. If I do, great…it’s peace of mind. Bottom line…if you’re an electrician/plumber/renovator, etc., you don’t need it. If you’re not, then you do.

      If there is a small leak in the top and doesnt show up for 7 months jayco will not honor their warranty. They told us we did not reseal our roof every 6 months so it was our fault. I inspected the roof often and found no problems and no signs of water damage on the inside ceiling. The leak was on the back of the RV , water was running down the inside of the back wall down under the floor. I didnt find it until I started doing repair work. By then they would not fix it and the dealer wanted to charge me $3000 to fix and $8ooo trailer.

    I live your videos my husband and I got a class C with a diesel Mercedes engine. 1 year ago unfortunately my husband had some health issues, I was trying to plan a cross country tip before he ended up having surgery, I was hoping by doing the trip he might agree to sell our house, and be full time Evers. We only have a 25’ but I can drive it just fine. He’s been researching on what vehicle is best to tow and decided we need a Jeep Wrangler. But after watching your video I’m thinking we may not need one at all I guess you go to town and stock up before setting up camp? We have a 6 year old miniature schnauzer that we started taking camping when he was 4 months old. Whenever we are packing up to go he starts crying and running around like crazy because he gets so excited. One year we were camping and our son, daughter-in-law were camping next to us, my son came in early one morning and asked if Zack had been out yet, I said no, so he said we would take him for a walk, when my son got back he said, just about everybody in the loop new zacks name and came out to talk to him. I said yeah. He loves meeting new people and he thinks he’s the campground dog host.

    • @todayissomeday
      @todayissomeday  5 років тому

      We dont really 'stock up' because we have limited cabinet space. We shop about once a week or so depending on where we are and where we are going. We use our toad a lot but there are plenty of people who dont use them at all.
      Have fun out there. sounds like Zack and Giz would be fast friends.

    Thank you for the great video. I've tripped the breaker many times especially during winter. I would forget the little electric heater was on and run the hair dryer or coffee pot. It never works. I'm glad you like Petsmart. One caution on their grooming service, my dog gets real excited around other dogs and she didn't do well so we can't take her back there. Sometimes, you just have to ride out the weather. I currently live in my Class C while in school and last night we had rolling thunderstorms come through for hours. No where to go, but to ride it out. The RV did great, some trees in the surrounding area not so much. Just make sure to bring your awning in before the storms hit! Again, thanks for the great video. Go Army!!! Beat Navy!!!

    You have to really look at the counter space when you are looking for an RV. So many time the stovetop and the sink is covered, so it looks like you have lots of counter-top, but when you are actually trying to cook, all the covers are useless. We didn't have a flip-up counter section, and no space to put one, but we did find a way to add some space. If you would like to see it, go to mandmtravels.net and look at RV renovations. I really enjoy watching you guys! Sense of humor and being able to kid around with each other is essential. Thanks for the videos.

    Grew up dry camping with my family in a pop up camper. Absolutely hated it! For me 1- I want a warm shower (not solar shower) daily and 2- need fans running. 3- I like to run lights at night without fear. Now if we could’ve had solar panels it might’ve been okay. Am sure it’s much better in a motor home. But as a kid the above was mine.

    On the credit card if you login online and check the notifications tab you can have the card notify you by text message when there are transactions. While it is a pain sometimes if the text is fast and you get a text before you get out of the line, but it is great to be able to catch a bogus charge and lock your card to stop any more bogus charges. I have used it for a number of years and have 3 times stopped someone from using my card that was not authorized and only once had to cancel the cards and get new cards. You can clear plastic coat the check list and mark it with a sharpie as you go down it for more safety.

      YES! Also, (because there has been a lot of this going on in my current area lately) ... Before using the pump, give the front of the pump a little 'shake'. It should be solidly closed. If not, use another one, there may be a tracking device of some sort in there. I'm not retired yet ... so haven't started, but for now, I go to Costco since they are very busy and monitored. Lot less chance of someone messing with them.

    We also regretted buying the extended warranties. However, they can be canceled within usually 30 days. The sales manager pressured us into purching the extended warranty for tires, appliances and GAP. We had them cancelled when we realized how much they would cost over the life of the loan. Let your viewers know. They must read the details on each item purchased so they can cancel them for a refund. Thanks for all the tips that you provide.

    We have saved 10's of thousands of dollars by having the extended warranty thru GoodSam. We have a luxury class A diesel 44 footer and I would recommend anyone with a class A or B gets the extended warranty. If you have a Fifth Wheel then you probably don't need it. Roadside Assistance also needed with a ClassA/B. If you have a 5th wheel then AAA and a spare tire will probably suffice.

      Oh...one more thing...just DON’T park in truck parking..then you’ll get a bad rap...rv parking is always separate area than “truck/flatbed parking..just an fyi..when truckers are out of hours and absolutely need to park and you’re parked in one ya might get a knock on the door, not a nice one, just saying

    what powers your residential fridge when you are on the road or boondocking? Does it run off your battery? If so how many batteries do you have. I have a 5th wheel with only one battery, but I do have a generator. The RV center I bought it at says it is a wet cell battery. I have never heard any RV bloggers talk about a wet cell battery. I am new at this and plan on going full time in Sept of this year.

    • @todayissomeday
      @todayissomeday  5 років тому +3

      Hey Kathy. Congrats on deciding to go full time!!! Our house batteries power the refrigerator while boondocking. When we are driving the alternator will keep the batteries charged. We do have 4 lead acid (wet cell) batteries that require us to check the water level each month and add water if low (distilled water only) Depending on what type of battery you have you may not need to check water levels. AGM batteries are wet and sealed and do not require water checks. When we are boondocking, we run the generator twice a day for a few hours (2-3 hours each time) to charge the batteries. Hope this helps.

    I really really enjoy watching your videos! I’m unfortunately in a marathon divorce (I filed 4 years ago) and if the Judge says I have to sale the property, I know what I’m doing! I’m down sizing this 5 bedroom 3 bath home to an RV. I live in Central TX and if I get an RV it will give me a great opportunity to go see the USA.
    When y’all travel through TX, there is a harvest stay near here, The Walker Honey Farm and Winery between Temple, TX and Rogers, TX. Great people, and great product!

      I hear in some videos about your back sir, I had spinal fusion back replacement a few years back and not long ago total knee replacement. I know how you feel about it being a challenge, but I also see it as an inspiration to get out of these walls around me in this sticks and bricks.

    Since you boondock at Wal-Mart at times, why not get items like TP there instead of ordering through Amazon? You WILL save more money that way, and you won’t run out of these items.

    • @todayissomeday
      @todayissomeday  3 роки тому

      We order TP a case at a time off Amazon and it it cheaper than Walmart. But we do stock up on items when we overnight there.

    You two are truly awesome. What a great post-military / retirement endeavour. Your channel focus is extremely helpful. I have been taking the steps you've often spoken about, to include a week-long checkout trip (my 8th) in -20F nights. Figured out to replace the blower sail switch to get the furnace to ignite! And previously I had to replace the cheap freshwater drain - which required some sheet metal cutting! Checkouts are a MUST. There are still some upgrade and maintenance tasks planned this Spring. Moving to fulltime once I take delivery of an F-350 and sell the house. And the purging has already begun!!!

    We started out tenting but bought our first RV in 1988. One thing I am disappointed in is how flimsy RVs have become lately. Our first one was rugged and fairly sturdy. Our last one was not. We found a leak on the back of it about 8 months after we bought it. Water was coming in the BACK of the RV about 8 " below the top. The manufacturer said it was because we didnt inspect the top every 6 months and reseal it. They ( JAYCO) would not honor their warranty and neither would the people we had an extended warranty through. The dealer was going to charge us $3000 to repair the damage. Being a carpenter and knowing how these trailers are built I repaired it for less than $200. The main thing you MUST do is do as thorough an inspection as possible before you sign anything. Even jumping up and down on the floors Crawl under the V and push up on the membrane covering the bottom to see if there is water in it. If there is a leak because of bad assembly and it sits on the dealer lot for a while the damage may not show up until its too late.

    • @todayissomeday
      @todayissomeday  3 роки тому

      We agree.....an inspection is key to a safe purchase. It may not find everything, but it will tell you a lot about the RV.

    I heard you guys say u got a Pilot's card to save on the price of fuel. Love's truck stop does this as well. Check with both of them and see if they will also allow you free showers after so many gallons of fuel. I am a retired truck driver and that was a nice benefit they allowed truck drivers but they might let you guys have this benefit, it is a nice if they will let you do this. By, love your videos.

    As a truck driver the only thing I get upset about is when a. RV is parked with slides out taking 2 or 3 spots
    And as a driver when I’m in the RV I stay away from them as much as I can

    • @todayissomeday
      @todayissomeday  5 років тому +1

      I am with you there! If we pull in for fuel and see someone with their slides open taking up several spots it drives me crazy! I do get that some RV need their slides open to get to the bedroom or fridge but that can be done over the curb.
