I agree with you , the song is indeed golden years of the Philippines. Los Banos, Laguna is my birth place and the song Dahil Sa Iyo is always being played on the radio while growing up in the Philippines. A true love song for the lady in your life.

And honestly, at that particular time, Filipinos serving in the US military feel safer visiting on leave. Outside the gate was more peaceful.

I just discovered this song a few weeks back and everytime I play my favorites and this song comes on, I cry. Its so beautiful.
A very special song for my family. As my dad was on hospice care at home my nephew thought how he could lift his papas spirits. He then thought music! Not knowing what music to play he remembered a song every Filipino sings at Karaoke.. Dahil Sa yo! As soon as he played it my dads eyes lit up & started to sing! Memories started to flood in of his younger days while playing in a band. Even remembering his girlfriend at the time. We laid him to rest yesterday & my nephew sang Dahil Sa Yo one last time for his papa❤️
Very sweet song. The Lettermen have such pure harmonies. It is no surprise that they are very popular in the Philippines, given that Filipinos are so sentimental (my partner is Pinoy). Love it.

I played in bands in the seventies. This was the song that signalled the end of the set. The musicians from the next band will come relieve the band instrument by instrument with drummer being last. It was a tradition.

This is our song, a very beautiful song. I live so well because of her. if you ever get a chance to go to the island of Cebu. A wonderful place.

Years ago the first lady of the Philippines Imelda Marcos came to see us at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco and asked us to come to the Philippines because we were so popular there. She also requested that we record "Dahil Sa Yo", because it was her favorite song, and we did, along with other Tagalog songs.. Here’s a fact! When the Lettermen came to Manila to perform at the Cultural Center in 1974 they stayed at the Hotel Intercontinental Manila! Me and a manager had an opportunity to accompany them on their ride to the Center! It was such a thrill and exciting. We rode in Danny Silverio’s Rolls Royce. The Lettermen sang a song in acapella on the ride to CCP
