Well, that's a good question. Everything was going swimmingly and on schedule until the pandemic and that threw a monkey wrench in the works with my video creation. I'd like to get back into it but I think it'll probably be a couple months and then I'll have another go at it. UA-cam doesn't seem to give my videos a lot of love, so sometimes it seems that I'm trying to create well-thought-out content but frankly, not a lot of people can see it!
Basically, only push as hard as you have to. If you press too hard, it causes tension and pain in the fingertip. If you don't press hard enough, the string will not produce a good sound.
Lol. It was a pianist that edited the video, so they were not making any comments about Lee but it is an odd coincidence to some extent, in consideration of Two Steps roasting. 🤪
Great vidoe thank you! Also I've watched your other video about shoulder rest and I'd like to know how to properly fit each side, is it too high, too low, what exact position should the shoulder rest rest on (lol) I've seen people using them with violins tilted way up or down, too flat you have to put you arm way to high to play G. Thanks in advance!
Yes, it's difficult to have one rule for how the rest should fit you or your instrument I suppose. The most important aspects are that the shoulder dress fits on the instrument so it doesn't fall off and the rest is adjusted so you have the most support and least amount of tension in your jaw, neck and shoulder. In other words, everybody will be different!
Exactly. The more we learn about how the human mind works, the better we get at training it. Also, violin technique has improved because all the best techniques from around the world have been combined and kids are starting younger.
Who found this tosh about talent as "ability to deliberate practice"????? Talent is an inborn ability to do easily what is hard for others. Easy peasy.
Why do these videos not have more views? This is essential information! Thanks for this.
Thank you and I have no idea why it's so hard to get traction on YT. Maybe I need to tell more viola jokes and dress up in costumes... 😜
@@KennedyViolins Rob Landes and TwoSet are popular, but where is the substance? Lol
Excellent video man, thank you so much, it's a life-changing video
This man is Gold! 🔱🔱🔱🔱🔱🔱🔱🔱🔱🔱🔱🔱🔱🔱🔱
Joel, any new plans for you to make more violin content ?

I will never be able to thank you enough
You just did!
Great video. Thanks!!!
very helpful
Damn... back to open strings I go then. ...
Excellent info and demonstrations! Thanks.
Thanks for the comment and positivity! 👍
I would be grateful if you could please explain the amount of finger pressure on the finger board. ⚘🙏🦋

"Talented People" precedes to show Ben Lee's horrible performance of flight of the bumblebee lol. Great vid though!
Yeah, I was about to comment on how I came from twoset and was about to roast Ben Lee =)

By the way just out of curiosity at what age did you start playing viola (or violin)?
I started at 6 years old. For my generation that was pretty normal. Now a lot of kids will start at 4 or 5. 😉. My daughter started at a young 5.
Kennedy Violins Yea I started viola pretty late (at 11) so I had to practice really hard the first two or three years to catch up with everyone else.
@@ah925 That's cool you started with viola though. Most violinists are converted violinists, as I'm sure you know. 😆

Talent doesn't exist. It's a myth. That's the whole point of the video if you watch it. It's backed by many scientific studies.
why is he playing a viola
