I think they both got the same advice to lie low. The difference is one took the advise whereas the other did not. The press only goes after you when they can see you because they can’t hound you if they can’t find you. I don't know where you're from but in the U.S and any English speaking country outside Britain, if the origin of the Royal Family is defined such as the the British Monarchy and it is implied that throughout the topic that is who is being talked about it is perfectly fine to call them the Royal family because it is not wrong. This also applies to any other culture , race and social standing. You would be the Ivy K family and would be simplified to the family or if talking about the Japanese Empire it would be the Royal Family if Origin was implied . This video clearly talks about the British Royal family. It is implied throughout this video that's who is being talked about not any other Royal family. I’m pretty sure Wills and Kate did sue (or threatened to sue) the tabloids. Once. After they published topless pics of Kate on her honeymoon. But it also shows how far out of line they have to get before any official censure.
They sued them, but it was French tabloids that published the pictures, not the British tabloids. British tabloids would never do something THAT invasive to the British family.

One correction, Archie is able to use one of his father's other titles, and be referred to as Earl or Lord. Additionally, as a great grandchild by tradition he is not titled. He does however, become eligible to be titled upon his grandfather's ascension to the throne. However, Prince Charles has indicated he wants to streamline the monarchy, which means only the heir apparent's children will inherit the title of Prince or Princess. So, if this happens only, Prince William and Prince George's children and so on would inherit. This means Archie and his soon to be born sister maynot have the titles of Prince and Princess. However, the Queen could title the Duke and Duchess of Sussex children but it is a good chance she will not based on tradition.

Even after he got married he and his family (Meghan and their children) were still going to be a part of Charles' slimmed down monarchy. Harry's children would have automatically been titled upon Charles' ascension to the thrown as grandchildren of the reigning monarch. In fact they have now put Charles in a predicament by leaving the monarchy because now how will he streamline it. Charles' streamed down monarchy was to involve the monarch of the time and his descendants.

I think but not entirely sure the reason why it was an issue for Meghan and Harry is because the queen stepped in and titled Princess Charlotte and Louis before Charles assumed the role of King, usually they would have to wait but she extended no such courtesy to Archie and likely the upcoming new baby Royal.

Just a note - Britain doesn’t own Canada or any other commonwealth countries. They are all politically independent. It’s just a formality that the Queen is head of state and visits every once in a while.

@@ekg891 I’ve done some research and it doesn’t seem like a particularly potent or important organisation. It was set up after colonialism to maintain links between countries but doesn’t have any hierarchy or particular economic benefits. It seems to be mostly about shared culture, sports and language. Also, most members are republics so don’t have the Queen as head of state. Canada pays money to the Queen only when she visits there. The Queen technically ‘owns’ some of the land but this is mostly irrelevant as it is administered by the Canadian government.

As a Canadian we really aren’t involved with the royal family much. We have a representative who “gives permission” for bills for the queen, but honestly if they said no to the bill there would be outrage. It’s more of a formality.

And to lie about a wedding 3 days prior and call the wedding a "spectacle" is a slap in their face as if to say "we didn't need your tax payer wedding anyway". The Crown is a weird combination of fact and make belief (at a minimum, anything where the royal family are talking amongst themselves, or writing to each other or thinking to themselves, is made up). There is a strong political agenda with the programme makers, but as long as people realise that and don't think it's real, they'll have fun watching it. Unfortunately some people think it's all real, rather than a weird combination of documentary and total make belief.

It is standard that members of the Royal family who don’t work as senior Royals don’t get paid. As Meghan & Harry chose to step down from their roles, it is quite correct that they no longer get paid for those roles. It would be like expecting your former employer to keep paying you after you have resigned. Princess Ann’s children, Phillip & Zara, and Prince Andrew’s children Beatrice & Eugenie are not regarded as senior Royals and therefore do not get paid as such. They all have jobs/careers out with the Royal family, whilst all of them still doing a lot of unpaid charity work. The UK does not own the countries within the Commonwealth, it is a voluntary association with 54 Independent countries. All countries within the Commonwealth have an equal say regardless of their size or wealth. Queen Elizabeth II is Sovereign of 15 countries in the Commonwealth of Countries....the UK and 14 Overseas Territories.
As a Canadian I didn't want to pay for their security as they ran away from the royal family and find it insulting that a famous millionaire Prince would complain about not getting a free ride off of regular working taxpayers during a pandemic no less when people are losing their jobs, businesses, homes and family memeber. Actually being a part of the Commonwealth is completely voluntary for each country to be a part of, if one wants to leave they are allowed to. And the current day Commonwealth membership does not require to be countries that were once under British rule. Learned all about this for my Life in the U.K. test to become a citizen.

one thing I wanna add! not totally part of Meghan and Harry's story, but it was interesting to me that the British tabloids focused so much energy on Meghan, specifically 'Meghan vs. Kate' - making Kate out to be victim and Meghan the bad guy. however there was an article I read a little over a year ago that basically the writer followed this timeline and realized that this was an effort to cover up William's infidelity - partially while his wife was pregnant with their third child - with one of her best friends and their neighbor. I wouldn't be surprised to learn if Harry and William had a falling out over this; Harry being the doting uncle he's shown himself to be and seeing his brother do the same thing to his wife that their father did to their mother. this in addition to the fact that no one in the royal family besides Harry came to Meghan's defense when her character was being attacked, the fact that William seems so comfortable with the status quo even if it means his sister in law is being attacked daily in the press, I can't imagine what would be left to salvage in the relationship between the two brothers.

Before then, even Charlotte and Louis would not have been given titles.)

2. Perhaps the older generation of Royals are seemingly out of touch BUT if anyone in the family most certainly is NOT "petty, weird, isolated and strange" that would be William & Harry. Their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales made 100% sure her sons knew they were privileged. Because of that she overcompensated by having her boys volunteer at homeless shelters, they even spent the night at Centrepoint where they hung out with homeless youth going through rehab. Those boys went to McD's like regular kids and when they went to theme parks their mother made them wait in line with everyone else. There was never any special treatment. To this day, Prince William volunteers, away from the "job" at homeless shelters and Centrepointe.

From my understanding the royal family members not closing their own car doors has something to do with security. They make sure the area is secure first, if it's not then they can usher them back into the vehicle. If something had happened, and she closed it she would have cut them and herself off from the closest place of safety as I believe that the doors automatically lock when closed. So really, it was in her best interest to wait for them to close it first. Some of the rules may seem utterly ridiculous to us but these are internationally known figures that represent a section of their government. Death threats are common. Even Prince George had death threats and he is just a child. Princess Anne was also kidnapped when she was younger. So she should definitely have not felt singled out or that she was being treated differently. It is probably something she would have gotten used to in time.

"The firm" is something out of a dystopian novel. How is this a thing? How can such a powerful organisation have only inherited positions but most people don't even know about them.
@@SShendrik From what I’ve learned (I’m a law student in the UK so we do briefly touch on this), you have the Royal Family which is made up of the Queen, the Princes, Princesses, Duchesses and Dukes etc, is separate from “The Firm” (I.e the institution). Back back in the day, we’re taking predating the 1600s, the Crown had all the power and the say so on what goes on in the kingdom (UK). The Crown -whether it was a king or queen- had their team of advisers and whatnot, that they would consult with on any and every decision. Around the 1600s, the people wanted the crown to have less power and wanted a government to speak and act for them - democracy basically. This led to power being distributed between the crown and the government. So the RF were forced to adjust to this change as it also affected the way the firm is set up and ran. To this day, the advisers, staff, secretaries, assistants etc, control pretty much everything that goes on in the background that we don’t see and their sole duty is to uphold centuries worth of customs, maintain the structure and institution that is the Royal Family. Idk if you saw the interview but Harry mentioned that for some time he couldn’t see the Queen because her secretary wouldn’t permit it. This is how it is. They’re not a family like the way us common people are - when we want to talk to our parents, siblings, aunts and uncles, we can simply pick up the phone or go for a drive. Sadly the RF don’t have intimate privileges like that. They’re literally a business. Anything that anyone wants has to through the firm, regardless of position. And if I quote King George VI, he said “we’re not a family, we’re a firm”.

Princess Eugenie will never be a Queen and I think she just enjoys simple things and she loves her job. Harry didn’t give up his title as well, so it’s about personality I guess. Not many can refuse the Royal lifestyle.

I don’t know much at all about the royal family, so it’s entirely possible she didn’t know. Apart from the sketchy things the older ones have done, I don’t really pay attention to them. “Not knowing much about them” DOESNT mean never heard of them. None of the commonwealth countries pay taxes to the UK. This means that the UK public tax payers were funding their security. Harry wanted financial independence and that is what they got. 'The Firm' is a term that also includes the Royal Family. It's actually an informal name for the family and the staff that works for them. In other words, the Royal Family is 'The Firm'

One correction, Archie is able to use one of his father's other titles, and be referred to as Earl or Lord. Additionally, as a great grandchild by tradition he is not titled. He does however, become eligible to be titled upon his grandfather's ascension to the throne. However, Prince Charles has indicated he wants to streamline the monarchy, which means only the heir apparent's children will inherit the title of Prince or Princess. So, if this happens only, Prince William and Prince George's children and so on would inherit. This means Archie and his soon to be born sister maynot have the titles of Prince and Princess. However, the Queen could title the Duke and Duchess of Sussex children but it is a good chance she will not based on tradition.
Harry and his family were originally always part of Charles slimmed down monarchy. Things changed once Harry got married.

It was set up after colonialism to maintain links between countries but doesn’t have any hierarchy or particular economic benefits. It seems to be mostly about shared culture, sports and language. Also, most members are republics so don’t have the Queen as head of state. Canada pays money to the Queen only when she visits there. The Queen technically ‘owns’ some of the land but this is mostly irrelevant as it is administered by the Canadian government.

As a Canadian we really aren’t involved with the royal family much. We have a representative who “gives permission” for bills for the queen, but honestly if they said no to the bill there would be outrage. It’s more of a formality.

Ok, I'm all for fairness but also let's be practical. If you go back to watch the wedding video, you'd see how gloriously the British people welcomed Meghan. Thousands under the sun cheering "meghan" as her carriage passed by. I know for sure she couldn't get that in America, for sure! The Crown is a weird combination of fact and make belief (at a minimum, anything where the royal family are talking amongst themselves, or writing to each other or thinking to themselves, is made up). There is a strong political agenda with the programme makers, but as long as people realise that and don't think it's real, they'll have fun watching it. It is standard that members of the Royal family who don’t work as senior Royals don’t get paid. As Meghan & Harry chose to step down from their roles, it is quite correct that they no longer get paid for those roles. It would be like expecting your former employer to keep paying you after you have resigned.
Princess Ann’s children, Phillip & Zara, and Prince Andrew’s children Beatrice & Eugenie are not regarded as senior Royals and therefore do not get paid as such. They all have jobs/careers out with the Royal family, whilst all of them still doing a lot of unpaid charity work.
The UK does not own the countries within the Commonwealth, it is a voluntary association with 54 Independent countries. All countries within the Commonwealth have an equal say regardless of their size or wealth. Queen Elizabeth II is Sovereign of 15 countries in the Commonwealth of Countries....the UK and 14 Overseas Territories.

Actually being a part of the Commonwealth is completely voluntary for each country to be a part of, if one wants to leave they are allowed to. And the current day Commonwealth membership does not require to be countries that were once under British rule. Learned all about this for my Life in the U.K. test to become a citizen.

one thing I wanna add! not totally part of Meghan and Harry's story, but it was interesting to me that the British tabloids focused so much energy on Meghan, specifically 'Meghan vs. Kate' - making Kate out to be victim and Meghan the bad guy. however there was an article I read a little over a year ago that basically the writer followed this timeline and realized that this was an effort to cover up William's infidelity - partially while his wife was pregnant with their third child - with one of her best friends and their neighbor. I wouldn't be surprised to learn if Harry and William had a falling out over this; Harry being the doting uncle he's shown himself to be and seeing his brother do the same thing to his wife that their father did to their mother. this in addition to the fact that no one in the royal family besides Harry came to Meghan's defense when her character was being attacked, the fact that William seems so comfortable with the status quo even if it means his sister in law is being attacked daily in the press, I can't imagine what would be left to salvage in the relationship between the two brothers.

Because of that she overcompensated by having her boys volunteer at homeless shelters, they even spent the night at Centrepoint where they hung out with homeless youth going through rehab. Those boys went to McD's like regular kids and when they went to theme parks their mother made them wait in line with everyone else. There was never any special treatment. To this day, Prince William volunteers, away from the "job" at homeless shelters and Centrepointe.
It’s not customary for every child to get a title he would not get a title until prince Charles takes the throne and they knew that before hand. .. Fergie’s kids princess Eugenie and Beatrice do not get security.

Princess diana doesn't equal the royal family and all the rules they have to follow as well as what goes behind the scenes. I watched a hundred shows about princess diana but i for sure don't know much about the royal family.
From my understanding the royal family members not closing their own car doors has something to do with security. They make sure the area is secure first, if it's not then they can usher them back into the vehicle. If something had happened, and she closed it she would have cut them and herself off from the closest place of safety as I believe that the doors automatically lock when closed. So really, it was in her best interest to wait for them to close it first. Some of the rules may seem utterly ridiculous to us but these are internationally known figures that represent a section of their government. Death threats are common. Even Prince George had death threats and he is just a child. Princess Anne was also kidnapped when she was younger. So she should definitely have not felt singled out or that she was being treated differently. It is probably something she would have gotten used to in time.

"The firm" is something out of a dystopian novel. How is this a thing? How can such a powerful organisation have only inherited positions but most people don't even know about them.
Can someone explain what exactly is meant by "The Firm". Is it referring to the Royal family only, or does it include the staff and advisors?
@@SShendrik From what I’ve learned (I’m a law student in the UK so we do briefly touch on this), you have the Royal Family which is made up of the Queen, the Princes, Princesses, Duchesses and Dukes etc, is separate from “The Firm” (I.e the institution). Back back in the day, we’re taking predating the 1600s, the Crown had all the power and the say so on what goes on in the kingdom (UK). The Crown -whether it was a king or queen- had their team of advisers and whatnot, that they would consult with on any and every decision. Around the 1600s, the people wanted the crown to have less power and wanted a government to speak and act for them - democracy basically. This led to power being distributed between the crown and the government. So the RF were forced to adjust to this change as it also affected the way the firm is set up and ran. To this day, the advisers, staff, secretaries, assistants etc, control pretty much everything that goes on in the background that we don’t see and their sole duty is to uphold centuries worth of customs, maintain the structure and institution that is the Royal Family. Idk if you saw the interview but Harry mentioned that for some time he couldn’t see the Queen because her secretary wouldn’t permit it. This is how it is. They’re not a family like the way us common people are - when we want to talk to our parents, siblings, aunts and uncles, we can simply pick up the phone or go for a drive. Sadly the RF don’t have intimate privileges like that. They’re literally a business. Anything that anyone wants has to through the firm, regardless of position. And if I quote King George VI, he said “we’re not a family, we’re a firm”.

It’s interesting bc the royal family doesn’t actually have a lot of power. They are completely controlled, and most of the time they can’t do much about it. Also they’ve been colonizers forever, so not so surprising.
The media did NOT print rascist headlines...the montage used during the OW interview was fake...& show producers fessed up to that. The RF can exert soft pressure to the U.K. press but that is all. This HAS been used in the past to try to squash negative stories about the staff bullying & the Australia incident. Unfortunately the palace staff turnover was high so the stories are starting to come out now.

Princess Eugenie will never be a Queen and I think she just enjoys simple things and she loves her job. Harry didn’t give up his title as well, so it’s about personality I guess. Not many can refuse the Royal lifestyle.

I've always wondered whether Harry ever warned Meghan on what she's getting into when they got married. Like did he not ever tell her about the pressure, the scrutiny, the rules, etiquette etc?
I think Harry's problem may have been that he doesn't really know what a normal life looks like. The level of scrutiny Cydnee describes was his "normal", so it was probably difficult to point out where exactly the differences may be.

It actually was customary for Archie to not have a title or security, his cousins didn't have a title or security either. He was going to have both eventually. If you watch "8 things Megan and Harry lied about in their interview" and "7 more things they lied about", it will give you a lot of important info that you should know before you look at anyone in a certain way.
No body knows what they went thru, I'm not saying she didn't experience mental health, whatever else. But a great, huge important movement is happening right now, and we can't just start calling ppl racists every time they tell a story. Ppl need to do hard research on both sides. And the videos with the legal explanation and other side is highly viewed and on youtube, they're very easy to access. None of the commonwealth countries pay taxes to the UK. This means that the UK public tax payers were funding their security. Harry wanted financial independence and that is what they got.
