    The MG Soleplate actually make sense in my opinion. In Germany we have two kinds of artificial grounds. A "similar to grass one" and a version, which is more like a hockey underground. Unfortunately you cant wear AG Models on this hockey pitches, but 80% of the artificial grounds are hockey like in Berlin for example. Puma is a German Brand, mind be a reason as well. The naming could be different though. Greetings from Berlin

      That is also the reason why 50% of footballers wear Mundial Team as their AG boot in Germany ;)

    In Germany's Ruhr Area, in the lowest leagues, unfortunately there still plenty of pitches, that resemble clay courts you are User from tennis. That MG stud pattern is pretty useful on those. I myself use a takedown model with MG pattern mostly in the summer, when the pitches are dried out and rock hard.

    Love the MG cleat, I have been trying to replace my old Adidas MG for years and tried all sorts of wider fitting turf cleats that ended up slipping due to short/soft studs: Nike, Adidas, Joma, Mizuno, Diadora, etc. I bought the 19.1Netfit version but the fit was too narrow for my US10.5 EE foot. I was convinced by reviews that the 5.1 was wider...and it's like wearing Crocs, so comfy. The shorter studs give me a great touch on the ball as well as good grip on AG, plus it works well 90% of the time in SoCal turf.
    I have tried a couple of those FG/AG cleats, they are too grippy on artificial grass for me.
    I hear the 6.1 is almost the same, don't know about the latest Puma offerings - I need to find a replacement soon.

    I bought the Puma Future 18.1 because they had an AG/FG stud pattern and while it looks exactly like an FG stud pattern, I haven’t had any stud pressure which I did get when using Nike FG stud patterns on an AG surface. So perhaps Puma is actually on to something, because so far it’s actually been working for me.

    The MG's are AMAZING! I have both the FG's/AG's and the MG's and if you play on astro, it is so much more comfortable to play with the MG's. I only use the FG version when I am playing on real grass, they are way too hard on AG. Puma did great on this one!

      BN S The FG one isn’t flexible at all in the forefoot. MG version much more flexible since the sole plate is not that hard. The fg sole plate is a real fg soleplate and therefore hard and firm! You can squeeze the mg version for instance much easier

    Hi Josh. Agree with everything you've covered in this review apart from sizing. I had to go down half-a-size with these boots, otherwise there was too much room in the toe box. I have all previous Puma Future boots in my reg 9.5 UK but needed to go down to 9 UK for best fit.

    • @wtfx5757
      @wtfx5757 3 роки тому

      I’d agree with you in length, but when I went down to a 9 it became to narrow for me. So I had to stick with 9.5. I can live with the slight increase in length knowing that I don’t feel like my forefoot is being squeezed. However I have a wide foot, so people with normal feet should be good with the your advice. Length is very similar to adidas sizing, so pick whatever you wear in adidas (outside of the copa mundial of course).

    Josh appreciate the awesome content 🙏 trying to choose the safest top end AG boot after suffering an ACL rupture last year: it’s come down to choosing between the Ultra 1.1 MG and a version of the future MG 4.1-6.1 - any advice there? Jay Mike suggested the 5.1 MG was the safest high end AG boot in a past video (ultra mg not yet released). Haven’t been able to find it in EU42.5/US9.5 - only the 5.2 drop down model. I’m used to wearing 19.1 predators and found the 19.1 future to feel a bit thicker than desired - the ultra looks great but those lace loops 😬

      If you're just coming back from an injury, a turf shoe might not be a bad idea. You'll still have traction, but they'll necessarily bite into the surface, which is where there's more potential for injury. Adidas Mundial Team would be an excellent choice. The MG pattern on the Future is also solid though.

      @@Soccerreviewsforyou appreciate the insight, I have some of the future 19.3’s turf shoe I’ve used a bit but I’m sorely missing that premium boot feel (I’ll definitely ease into whichever MG I get) Is it a clear winner with the future 6.1’s over the ultras? Do the 6.1’s feel more sock like and less thick in the upper compared to the 19.1’s (I have a pair of the AG/FG fake hybrid boots and wasn’t the biggest fan of how thick they feel) also noticed I should probably go down half a size compared to adidas just because they are that much wider (I do have semi-wide feet)

      @@phillipalexanders id get the ultras bro. Don’t think the lace loops of that big of deal personally. Just don’t tighten your laces super tight. The ultras are some of the most comfortable boots I own actually. I have the MG future 5.1 and the fg/Ag ultra 1.1. The sizing is slightly different in my opinion. I wear a 9 US in the ultra and a 9.5 in the future. The future in a 9 was slightly too narrow in the forefoot for me. 9.5 fits significantly better in width albeit very slightly longer. The reason for this is simple. Most people don't care about stud patterns so they just wear fg even on an ag pitch. Puma and Adidas are actually
    cool because by marketing there boots as fg/ag, you can get warranty support unlike nikes fg boots.

    I need a good durable pair of cleats. I really like puma but I could be persuaded towards other brands (Ive worn nike most of my life and switched to puma last year). My nike cleats have fallen apart within a year of buying them and I want a pair of cleats that could last more like two years but I don't know much about cleats. Anyone have any suggestions?

      Getting 2 years of use out of a single pair of boots these days isn't very common. Unless you're really easy on your boots, there's nothing out there that is guaranteed to last that long.

      sam, josh, i'm just finishing up a pair of nike magista that have lasted for 3?, 4 ? years, whenever they came out, and finally tore at the big toe area, and i play at least 2 x week april-oct/nov, whenever poss here in michigan, hot, cold muddy, soft, hard, etc, so some boots are quite durable....my 2 cents, quick question though, playing in michigan where its wet quite a bit, are the puma future 5.1 uppers at all water resistant ??, noone can seem to answer this question ??...dan, (played div 1 college and semi-pro many moons ago, still playing regularly at 60 yrs old !)

    It looks like there are toe spikes. Would the refs allow that in an actual game?

    • @Soccerreviewsforyou
      @Soccerreviewsforyou  4 роки тому

      As far as I'm aware, there's no rule about that. The only rule around the studs is that they're not supposed be sharp, but Mercurials have extremely sharp spikes, so I don't think any of those rules are strictly enforced.
