    Ive been working on a 6mm scale fantasy campaign system for my gaming group and was wondering how to do small buildings for terrain - this was very serendipitous - I'd love to see more extra-tiny builds!
    If you do end up making a diorama, those pipe cleaners with the bumpy design are great for making tiny pine trees!

    Jeremy, my dude! You just solved an issue I was having!
    Our neighbors that we play D&D with really like the love story from the movie “Up”, and I was going to craft Paradise Falls as a Christmas gift for them, but I couldn’t figure out how I wanted to make the house. I didn’t want to take the cheap way out and just 3D print it, because I wanted them to feel the effort that was put into it.
    Now I have a solid direction to go with it! You’re awesome! Merry Christmas, buddy!

    • @MonkeyJedi99
      @MonkeyJedi99 6 місяців тому

      3-D printed would be cheap?
      This was made with scrap paper, superglue and 4-5 colors of paint.
      Ah, forget my opinions, you enjoy crafting, and enjoy the season!

      @@MonkeyJedi99 "Cheap" as in, lazy. As in the rest of it is handcrafted and then I would be taking the easy/cheap way out and just printing the house. I wanted it all to be handcrafted. 🙂
      I understand resin isn't cheap, but it still would have been less than 20 cents to print it. lol

    This is actually adorable. If I had done this, for a game, i would put it like "the base of the group", as a centerpiece, inside of a big hexcrawl map. "Here is where our home is", kinda vibe.

    • @MonkeyJedi99
      @MonkeyJedi99 6 місяців тому +1

      Oh!
      Map markers!
      This little house represents the village of Norham, the little stone tower is the lord's keep at the mouth of the Cwelllo River, and the mound with a door in it is the gnome settlement of Greensprig.

    • @VrikoLaka
      @VrikoLaka 6 місяців тому +1

      @@MonkeyJedi99 Exactly! I am playing a game (in a VTT) that does this type of stuff. Imagine "okay, you explore this hex, and here you find.... THIS", and you pull out one Map Marker, like, the Tower that you mentioned.
      It could be a bit frustrating to set-up (and a bit time consuming) on a physical table (that's why I only have seen this in VTT), but it would be so fun.

I need to learn to chill out and let it go haha I just get my hopes up in a way and if it doesn't work how I want I get so discouraged and sad. Sometimes walking away, crying a bit, and coming back to it helps. Am I kind of a baby? Yes, but oh well lol

    This gave me the idea to make cities in this scale. I have some larger buildings and I find them hard to use. Either the party is IN building - so it is much better to have interiors with "placeholders" for walls. I love the dungeons and lasers series.
    Or when outdoors, I'd need tonns of buildings. Even smaller villages have at least 20 which is not really feasible to put on a gaming table. But with such tiny buildings, one could make a complete city - even a couple hundred buildings - and have it on the go either for table top or moving to a friends home. It would help the party to visualise the city layout and to explore it. Simple maps are just too boring min most cases so I always wanted cities. I might give this a go with laser cut details. Lovely idea!

    For papercraft at this scale, I recommend using a pritt stick (yes, the one you used in school) for the detail work. Far less mess than PVA and a practically instant bond. Cut your plank and just pull the strip of material between your finger and the glue stick. Put in place and cut to fit. Easypeasy. Coat with a thin layer of ModPodge before paint and do what you just did.
    I've done a few paper/card things like that and it makes it a lot easier and fun to do.
