Ladies & Gentlemen, the original lead axeman for Metallica was born in the land of reggae (Jamaica) and was thrashing in his own band before he played on Hit the Lights! Something I learned back in 84 and he's still pals with Lars!
@Princelawrenz Hamlin he only contributed on "hit the lights" and nothing else. Lars and James formed the band, they didn't need to be inducted in to it. Lloyd was just a friend that they jammed with a few times before there was an actual band. All other guitar pieces on kill em all were Dave Mustaine and James.
@Princelawrenz Hamlin lloyd has stated personally that his contribution was only the solo for hit the lights. Also, there were 2 recordings of that song for metal massacre. The second one was with Mustaine and all songs following that were with Mustaine, as far as kill em all goes. There was never any other involvement with Lloyd after that one recording. The whole story about this is on the metallica Fandom wiki page, as well as interviews with Lloyd on UA-cam
Hi Lloyd, I just came to say hello and share my relief about you're still alive and kickin' so many asses. Oh, and a huge THANK YOU for all that powerful music you've been making all over these and those years. Greetings from Argentina. *STAY BRUTAL* 🤘🏻
Ya Metallica would have been harder with the Brother.....hey I wonder why he never join STONE VENGEANCE....as the 2nd lead guitar player......great video of black thrash Bay area history.
Whats up Lloyd I played Bass on the Red Light "Thrash Metal Attack" Demo. I had to pay 300 bucks for studio time in a really nice 24 track studio. I was 20. I heard you and Steve were looking for a Bass player to start up again.?
That generation wasn't accepting black people in thrash or heavy metal, I Know personally after spending years at this same time trying. I was told I should play bass... Stereotyping
@@villian99918 True, everyone knows Hendrix was black and is still rightfully revered to this day for his amazing pioneering of electric guitar. There's just something about him that can't be replicated even with all the guitarists since then that have technical superiority over him. I think his some of his best work is some of the lesser known live performances as heard on disc 2 of the compilation called "Voodoo Child: The Jimi Hendrix collection"
Yeh as a white guy,I will never understand why they treated the brothers as inhuman, they're bloody great people with so much talent in everything they do ...maybe the white fellas were scared theyd be shown up aye?
as for the discussion about why they didnt add loyd after mustaine left....no one should be told that its because people dont want a black lead guitarist...the 3 greatest electric guitarists were black....chuck berry, jimi hendrix and albert collins.
omg the vocals remind me of king diamond !!!!
more please!!

@Princelawrenz Hamlin of course, I have zero first hand knowledge of any of this. It's just what I've read throughout the years.
Wish that all of the Defcon material and his other material would get released officially onto cd and vinyl. Would be a metal dream come true.
This RULES!
Lloyd Grant ROCKS!
Omg bloody awesome...and I thought I knew everything from metallica
pioneer !

Lloyd is bad ass! Why didn’t they just have him come in after Mustaine?
Because they probably thought they wouldn’t make it big with a African American guitarist (AT THAT TIME)
@@Thekidyusuke i mean ron their first actual bassist said dave was just a good leader to look up too. Lloyd didnt fit well.
@@Thekidyusuke he’s Jamaican lol
@@Thekidyusuke
I highly doubt that 😂
Lars Ulrich. That's why.

You misspelled Chuck Berry, BB King & Lloyd Grant... except for the Chuck Berry part. 😉
