Must start my tomato seeds. It been too cold and windy to plant outside since they grow so fast I'll start them indoors and when the weather is right i can plant them in my pots outside.
I love to grow Early Girl tomatoes in my container garden in Eastern Washington but this year had only 6 seeds left. I ordered more but they haven’t arrived yet. Four seeds came right up but two had no signs for two more weeks! Yesterday I was shocked to see both of the two remaining seeds have sprouted! Thanks to you I waited and now was rewarded.
We had three nice days in the 60s. Now it is cold again, even slight night frost and my peach tree is blooming, oh oh. All I started so far is sweet potatoes and a few old pepper seeds to see if they are still good. My daughter had old redbeet seeds I'm testing as well.
Great plant label. I’ve tried making them as you suggest plastic tops etc. Sun fads them. Bought some same thing happened. Tried popsicle sticks. No go either. The one in this video may do it. We get stuff in little bags and I’ll make a label and tap it in the inside of the bag.
I am a brand new gardener this year and this channel and a couple others have really taught me alot. I just germinated some seeds for the first time ever 2 weeks ago. I followed everyones instructions and almost every single one sprouted . I was so surprised that I could do it, but problem was, I followed seed instructions and planted 2-3 seeds in each little hole. it was so sad to see 4 or more little sprouts and according to what a bunch of people say or I read says to only keep the strongest one. I really couldn't do it, I felt that I had paid for each seed and to pinch them off I would be wasting time ,money and potentially food. so I sat there down in my basement for 4 hours one day and as gently and patiently as I could ,I very carefully dug in the dirt and brought all out as a small ball and found each and every root to each one. then did what Robbie showed in a video (I think or it was something I thought up as I watched one of her videos) put them in little paper souffle cups with tiny holes and potting mix and wished them the best of luck and put them under my grow light. a week later they were still hanging in there and were in really good shape and I transplanted them to a bigger container.
@@yellowbirdie2703 Good for you! I am a new gardner also. I have found the seeds that I purchased for imgardner and bakers creek have all germinated so I put less seeds in the pot. Some seeds that I have gotten off ebay took longer and had less germination rates for me.
AND that also explains why they grow better in clumps. I was puzzling over that here, where I'm starting herbs in plastic cups. When I put one or two, they either don't sprout, or take forever. When I seed out clumps of them, they pop up quickly. I do wonder if the seeds have something on them that enhances the sprouting of some of them? Like a tomato, if it falls in the garden, you know all the seeds are glommed up together in a clump, not strewn around in singles. Although, it makes sense that the larger ones will win. ANyway, all of your videos give me great food for thought. Thank you! bc in San Angelo, TX.
I've been doing this with tomatillo plants and now I have tons of them! I find that the late seedlings catch up if they get enough light and are not crowded out by the taller ones.
Hi Robbie! When you bake your soil, what temp do you set your oven and for how long? I'm assuming you use the pan you had soil in, in this video. This year, so far, no weird little annoying flies from soil, but it has happened in the past. It can take some time to kill them all off. I've found a few ways to do so that don't involve pesticides, but if I could avoid that altogether than I'd like to give it a try by baking the soil and I'm assuming I heard you correctly. Can you please let me know if you read this comment and have time to reply? Thanks. Sending Love from Western WA.
Robbie, have you had any success in propagating peppers from cuttings, like you do for tomatoes? I am not having much success with growing the peppers from seeds, so I was thinking of buying a few pepper plants from the store, and propagating them from cuttings. Will this work?
It should work, it may take a little longer than tomatoes, did you try a heat mat for your peppers seeds, also you can try wrapping your seeds in a wet paper towel and then put them in a ziploc bag, I'm sure Robbie got a video on then, good luck.
This " prune the weak seedling" has always bothered me when I hear it. I agree with saving all of them that you can. Why wouldn't you want more seedlings??? I LOVE gardening and love your channel. Thank you for all you share. It's like listening to a wise auntie that has had the experience of before to pass along. Thank you. I look forward to your uploads.
Many years ago I heard about baking your soil before potting up. Great idea although I never tried it. Please let me know the oven temp & how long you bake it for to kill those nasty little gnats. Thank you.

Hi Robbie, I noticed in the back you have the K cups. I also do the same. Have a nice day.
Thank you! I do use k cups, those in the back here are cheap bathroom paper cups 😊❤
Robbie, you are so smart!
☺️ I think we all are when we think about Things ❤️ Thanks
The tulle is an awesome idea
I came up with this years ago and love it ❤ Thanks
I was just about to plant my own outdoor when a cold front came through. I'll try again this weekend ❄️🌞
I'm in zone 6 , it's going to be 25 degrees tonight, I have brassica under a hoop with frost cloth 😂.

Have you tried the markers that are made to last outside?
I have other ideas that are coming and that I’ve shared an other videos too so keep watching. Thanks a lot.❤😊
I use Sharpie Pro - writes on damp and won't sun fade
Yes and still have a bunch. They faded. My next try was going to be metal ones but I’m going to give Robbie’s bag method a go.
We must have different sun in SW Florida. Have used those pens and they faded. Very frustrating because I can’t remember where I grow perennials.
Hey Robbie 🥰
Hi Mona ❤
Awesome 😊I do the same thing with my little straggler seedlings. That's still a good plant 💯
LOL I got my green Cup Caddy at Dollar Tree as well & Do SAME THING 😊🌱😊😊🌱😊😊🌱
😊 Cool! So great
I agee. I don't want to destroy life, even plant life. I transfer instead. Let them all have a chance!
Yes! ❤😊

I love that cup caddy! Our $1.25 store never has any of the near stuff you find. 😢
Thanks for thisi info. I dont like thinning plants out unless it is absolutely necessary. I hate killing anything!

Hey Robbie! Does it matter what color cups? Would it be ok to use clear to start the seedlings? I ask bcuz I have a ton of clear plastic ones. Thx

I can't bring myself to throw away weaker seedlings. They're the ones I baby along.
I have 2 tomatoe plants and get TOO MANY😮😮😮😮😮😮 we cant eat so many tomatoes ... what you do with ALL THAT PRODUCTION ? 😮😮😮
Just a suggestion but do you have a food pantry nearby ? Maybe ask if they would take donations of any extras you have ?
Unfortunately, it is too late for us to grow tomatoes from seed.
its never too late if you have grow lights
I have not started mine yet. I think I will start only a few because I always have volunteers coming in the garden and then I get way too many😊
@@kleineroteHexso true
I don’t think so, they come up in days and grow fast. And use my paper cup growing system I came up with, and you can grow.
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy they will still take 75 days to mature (according to the web). We will be near if not over 100 degrees.
