I'm replacing all my quadcopter gps with an 10th gen unit. I ordered the plywood nano V3 gps, and i was blown by the size (fun fact it's the same size as a GoPro gps ceramic) the size is a game changer, it's smaller which means smaller you mount, and i love that the nano can be powered by a 3.3v. so i just plug my quad to a USB and it powers the gps and it beats my $30+ like the flight M8q and mayhem M8q. Its probably the first time I get more than 18gps, actually the maximum i got is 30gps. And they are less susceptible to interference, for shts and giggles, i mounted one on top of motor wires on the arm of my quad, and it performed without any issues, which again opens up a lot of possibilities.
Can't figure out the direction of the compass for the V3 Pro model. The website has a picture but now I am more confused. also would be great to review the Flywoo 1.2GHz/1.3GHz 2W Video transmitter VTX-1G3 9CH!
Just took my drone out for the first time n i didnt fet any satelites for over 10-15 min then saw about 5 then nothing, 2nd battery and 20 minutes later n still nothing. Not sure whats wrong with this gps. Will take it out again in a few days but not sure how i feel about this gps unit, i have the BN220 on my airplane n that always worked well for me. Hopefully 2nd round will work better I hope.
So am I able to put failsafe and gps rescue RTH mode on the same 3 position switch? First position is off / nothing. Second position is failsafe and third RTH?
Is its antenna tuned for Glonass frequency as well? I found that the majority of the GPS antennae are tuned for 1575.42MHz frequency only, which is used by GPS, Galileo, and Beidou. Glonass frequency is 1609MHz and antennae that are tuned to both 1575 and 1609 MHz are little expensive and generally not used by manufacturers. So could you please check on Ucentre, that it catches Glonass satellites as well? Thanks.
Really needs a head to head comparison of a new m10 vs a previous generation. Uninstalled, on the bench usage isn't typical, so a head to head on the bench and a head to head while installed and outdoors would be great.
No, Really, Why should I choose this over what we have always used, the BN-220??? If there is a good reason to switch then OK, but I would really like a reason.
and one more question do you have to update any firmware after installing this for the first time or is everything configured in the Betaflight and ucenter?
I'm wondering if this is plug and play with the Flywoo V 2.0 that is on the Flywoo Explorer and Hexplorer BNF, and would it fit into the tpu print out slot?
With a compass the quad knows which direction it is facing, without deriving it from GPS course over ground (which is unreliable in strong winds and doest work when hovering in position). Idk if Betaflight is able to effectively use the compass data though and it think it's more intended for INAV and ArduPilot. A compass can also be annoying to setup because you need to regularly calibrate it and position it away from high current wires. On small quads it can be a constant pain in the ass to get right and it's not worth it in my experience.
INAV and Ardupilot can use a compass heading on a Multirotor to help navigation, it is not needed on a fixed wing because it can determine it’s heading from GPS (as it’s never hovering). For reasons I don’t fully understand a compass can be a nuisance on a fixed wing.
@@BogHopperFPV I'm no longer involved in INAV development but I think a lot of things were improved in INAV 6 so a compass can now be beneficial on fw as well.
Mmm Freestyle pilots you best get a gps fitted! you never know if that tree jumps out on ya or you need to get out of that second floor window with ease. 🤔
The prices keep going up, I ordered mine a couple weeks ago and wanted to grab another and the price has already gone up another $4 more from when I ordered
It's taking me 10 minutes to get 3 satellites on betaflight 4.5.0 using flywoo explorer. The cable is shielded. My V2.0 flywoo M8 mini from 2021 did a better job than this. Either I got a defective module, or these are a joke for north america. No idea what I'm doing wrong and I cannot fathom how an M10 can be this much worse than the M8 I just swapped by simply plugging in the connector, as it is a direct fit.
@@MadRCHey man thanks for the reply! This is with DJI Vista. Bought the flywoo explorer LR V2 in 2021 and it had an M8 GPS. Upgraded it to 4.4 last year and it’s worked well. I’ve been testing 4.5.0 with the M8 on it since January, and figured it was time to finally upgrade to m10. I think the flywoo m10 are just more susceptible to noise than the m8. I can’t find any other one explanation that fits. I’ve tried 57600 baud per BF 4.5.0 recommendation actually, and 115200 as directed by flywoo… poor performance on both. Nothing changed except connecting the new GPS to the existing cable. It was always mounted pretty close to the vista on the flywoo explorer lr v4, maybe with that m10 it is just not going to work. I did isolate the GPS, moved it to a test flight controller and connected it to my laptop outside. Received 24 satellites and it lit up quickly. So the issue is not my location and the module does work. I tested with two of them. But if I want to use this on the woo, I’ve got to figure out either getting the GPS farther away from the vista or possibly ground the shielded cable. Flywoo shielded the cable on the V2, but it is not grounded. A little bummed to have to chase this issue since I expected this to be a direct replacement especially coming from Flywoo themselves but oh well 🤷♂️
@@MadRC I've just finished solidly grounding the copper shielding to an FC ground, 'better', was able to get 12 sats setting the vista to 25mw, but still not acceptable... as soon as I raised power, started losing sats. I will have to get the gps away from the body at this point, I don't see anything left to do.
Bought the pro version - works great with Inav 6. By far the quickest of all my different GPS units to acquire a solid fix.

I’m super excited for Flywoos innovation on these new gps! I really can’t wait to try them out!!
These m10 are crazy good. I am getting fix in 3 seconds and 30+ sats after 1 minute. Old BN-220 took 1-2 minutes and maxed out around 12 sats.
U shield the wire?
Awesome review, Ian! Thanks! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
i bought the HGLRC M100
I’ve tried the nano on 3 micros. Only a few times I was able to get locks before my VTX over heated.
The same for me...
what about today u should revisit this video and do a 2024 gps for smaller builds 3-5" can prolly run a m10 is this still the best available?
The M10 units are really impressing me. They're even doing great indoors! Thinking my iNav quad could stand to get an upgrade soon.
wot a great we unit..ive always run gps on most of my drones and i like the look of this one indeed.
Great Review as always
I am waiting for the Vegeta version.
i have it with the compass, works great.
Just ordered a couple ;-)
So, why choose this over a BN-220 ??
I have this nano can't wait to try on my Darwin LR!
Did you had to add any extras or upgrade the firmware so BF would detect the GPS?
do a test with the old walksnail system for us... great video 👊
this, please!

I just ordered one of these 2 days ago. 👍
Good luck with yours... I got one and worked great for 2 flights, now I can't get it to accurately lock for the life of me

From a user perspective, the M10 locks on faster than M8s, sometimes by a significant amount.
Does this not need a battery then to store satellite locations from a previous flight?
What would be the smaller and best value meta gps with compass?
What chipset is used in dji gps antennas like in an Avata are they M8 M10 or something else/better?
I'm also interested in knowing as well
DID U SHIELD THE GPS CABLE?
What is the wire size for soldering?

Hey, i have a doubt, i m new on this, with this can i locate mi gps from anywhere or do i need to be a max of meters from the gps
How's the altitude with this?

You should use Betaflight 4.5 ideally.

Did you ever find out? That's what I'm hoping to do with my Explorer
Product link???
Where in the UK can this be bought?
they can ship to UK and very fast
Thank you...
Does anyone know why a unit with compass is better than without? Is there improvement in location accuracy?
