My town, Kupiansk, was occupied as well, I was anticipating the war and left the town just in 2 days before it started cuz I knew that I could never leave after. We had completely the same situation as in Kherson. Gladly, both are already liberated.

This has to be the most harrowing documentary I have watched. As one lady states the psychological wear, people who bear witness to these war crimes, especially young children. My heart goes out to these people. I just hope all the funds and expensive ships & held in the various banks and where they are held will go towards the rebuilding of Ukraine. Their bravery is outstanding, people of Ukraine keep all the video clips as they are evidence of the crimes against all the people who have lost their lives. God bless all Ukrainians

I was really touched by the scene where the women fleeing Kherson finally meet their own Ukrainian Soldiers at a Ukrainian Checkpoint ……”We offered them food, but they said no, keep it….you need it more than us” …..That gesture says so much about those people. The Ukrainian military was deployed to E Ukraine where they fought against miltias made up of ethnic russian ukrainians from that part of Ukraine, a full scale war was waged there from 2014, with the US and Nato backing W Ukraine, and Russia backing E Ukraine. The split between the W Ukrainians who wanted to be part of the European Union, and W Ukraine, who wanted to be independent of Ukraine because they were russian speaking and had to endure unjust laws against them, has been a part of Ukraine since it's independence in 1991. 2013 was a year of political turmoil that aided in fomenting the military operation by Ukrainian military against E Ukraine. Kherson has always been only 20% ukrainians who align with the ideals of the ukrainians who live in the west. This documentary leads it's viewers to believe that all of Kherson is victimized Ukrainians who are fighting for freedom and democracy against Russia. But in actuality, Kherson is a region that is populated with russian speaking ukrainians who have only wanted independence of Ukrainian government. This is one of Putin's demands. That Ukrainian gov and the western world recognize E Ukraine as autonomous and independent regions of Ukraine.

I love this very in depth documentary so real. I have never experienced war and I hope I don't but hearing all the things that those people went through. actually, Kherson has been fighting for it's independence and autonomy from the Ukrainian government since 2014. It's 80% majority russian speaking ukrainians that have always lived there. This documentary sought out ukrainians that are not ethincally russian ukrainians, but are the one's who want to be part of the EU. It's bullshit that they made it seem like all of Kherson population didn't want the russian military there. Actually, 80% of the them did. They had been enduring bombings of their neighborhoods since 2014. And the russian military marched in to defend those russian speaking ukrainians. When russia was retreating from Kherson, they made sure to evacuate over 100,000 ethnic russian ukrainians from Kherson City before they retreated.

actually, you haven't learned the full back story of the russian ukrainian war. Main factor is that there is an ethnic division between the West and the East, that has existed in that country since it's independence. And that division has become so toxic, it's has fomented into todays bloody war in Ukraine. When you're rooting for Ukraine, you're rooting for W Ukraine. The half that wants nothing more than to be part of the European Union. You're not rooting for E Ukraine. The part that wants nothing more than to be independent and autonomous from Ukrainian government. You just don't know it.

That's what East Ukraine, the Donbas and the Luhansk regions have been doing since 2014. When they voted to become independent of Ukrainian government. They've been taking the bombing and shelling done to them by the Ukrainian military for 8 yrs. I went through so many emotions watching this video. I was really touched by the scene where the women fleeing Kherson finally meet their own Ukrainian Soldiers at a Ukrainian Checkpoint ……”We offered them food, but they said no, keep it….you need it more than us” …..That gesture says so much about those people. Food would be scarce, very hard to come by and yet their first impulse was to give it away, a gift that says thank you. That was lovely

If there's one sliver lining to this entire tragedy, it's that it's given rise to independent journalism on a large scale again.
did you know that Ukrainian government called a military operation to fight terrorism in E Ukraine, Kherson being one of the cities they targeted. The Ukrainian military was deployed to E Ukraine where they fought against miltias made up of ethnic russian ukrainians from that part of Ukraine, a full scale war was waged there from 2014, with the US and Nato backing W Ukraine, and Russia backing E Ukraine. The split between the W Ukrainians who wanted to be part of the European Union, and W Ukraine, who wanted to be independent of Ukraine because they were russian speaking and had to endure unjust laws against them, has been a part of Ukraine since it's independence in 1991. 2013 was a year of political turmoil that aided in fomenting the military operation by Ukrainian military against E Ukraine. Kherson has always been only 20% ukrainians who align with the ideals of the ukrainians who live in the west. This documentary leads it's viewers to believe that all of Kherson is victimized Ukrainians who are fighting for freedom and democracy against Russia. But in actuality, Kherson is a region that is populated with russian speaking ukrainians who have only wanted independence of Ukrainian government. This is one of Putin's demands. That Ukrainian gov and the western world recognize E Ukraine as autonomous and independent regions of Ukraine.

Great documentary. The Ukrainians are very brave but need more help from the West both in terms of humanitarian aid but also sustained military and infrastructure (electrical) aid. I am very sorry about all the suffering that Ukrainian people are enduring.

As of Febuary, 2022, 15,000 civilians in E Ukraine had died at the hands of the Ukrainian military. You can read about this on the UN website. And the US state departments website.

actually, Kherson has been fighting for it's independence and autonomy from the Ukrainian government since 2014. It's 80% majority russian speaking ukrainians that have always lived there. This documentary sought out ukrainians that are not ethincally russian ukrainians, but are the one's who want to be part of the EU. It's bullshit that they made it seem like all of Kherson population didn't want the russian military there. Actually, 80% of the them did. They had been enduring bombings of their neighborhoods since 2014. And the russian military marched in to defend those russian speaking ukrainians. When russia was retreating from Kherson, they made sure to evacuate over 100,000 ethnic russian ukrainians from Kherson City before they retreated.

actually, you haven't learned the full back story of the russian ukrainian war. Main factor is that there is an ethnic division between the West and the East, that has existed in that country since it's independence. And that division has become so toxic, it's has fomented into todays bloody war in Ukraine. When you're rooting for Ukraine, you're rooting for W Ukraine. The half that wants nothing more than to be part of the European Union. You're not rooting for E Ukraine. The part that wants nothing more than to be independent and autonomous from Ukrainian government. You just don't know it.
