She is music, she is song, she is goodness, she is kindness, she is compassion, she is empathy, she is unshakable commitment to humanity, the voice to the voiceless, the care to the forgotten. She is a precious gift of God to us all. She is, in one word , LOVE. May we can be worthy of this love. Gratitude forever ,Joan Baez.
For me Joan Beaz is one of the only single freedom fighters next to Gandhi or the Beatles. Good bless her! I will be always love you! You Angelvoice and freedom fighting woman, which has never had to kill, because you will kill all softly and honest by your extraordinary voice!
Thank God for her, her beautiful voice and soul and for all who fight for freedom and justice everywhere! Keep the faith, keep to each others side brothers & sisters!
A real angel that radiates out light and the darkness can't stop her. She constantly reminds us who we really are: beings full of light that belong to just the realms where darkness can't enter.
saturday morning n just drifting through UA-cam and then came across this ........absolutely blown away !! the power and the passion and the voice !! Thats the rest of the day gone ...too busy checking out Joans other stuff !! Thanks for posting video!
They are friends since a long, long time. Baez referred to Ian as "my baby" when she presented her a grammy in the 70s. Ian writes in her autobiography how much Baez means to her.
Oh freedom, oh freedom Oh freedom over me, And before I'll be a slave I'll be buried in my grave And go home to my Lord And be free. No more weeping, No more shooting, They'll be singing.
I've been told taht she's going to retire soon, because her voice is quitting her, is that true? I hope not! Because even if she has lost in the highs and in power, she gained in depth and strongness.(Forgive me for my bad English, I'm french...)
why lie? He and everybody else knelt in awe when the mighty Baez raised her voice in song. Click on their Blowin in the Wind Video where he introduces har and adds "she sure is great" Bob's use of power referred to the effect her singing created , not the quality os her pipes which speaks for itself. Read Chronicles, BD thought she was the a relgious ICON, Mr. Bird-d00-d00-cloggin-your-chimney.
I listened to it, it's just as screechy as all the other stuff. Longevity and lots of recordings doesn't mean someone is "good" just well promoted, look at Babara Steisand for example. Oh and in terms of unique, you're right it is unique not many voices out there that sound like squeeking on the blackboard.
Your bird comment is about as unique as Joans voice. I can't remember how many times people have used it. Your last comment about me noit being aware of her "most sensitive voice" is very true. I wonder why that is?
JB really crippled her career when she got political. Funny story about her: Some years ago, JB (who is attracted to both men and women) saw Apple boss Steve Jobs on TV and said, "He's a handsome man; he's 14 years younger than I am but he's a handsome man and single. I would like to meet him for coffee." She had friends and so did he and hers said to his, "Joan would like to meet Steve for coffee if he's interested." He said yes and they had coffee; afterwards her friends said, "How did you like him?" and she said, "He's such an *asshole*! Well, what did she expect?
No! Her still impressive upper range is more wobbly and weaker but her interpretive powers are undiminished and many prefer her aged voice. She's as active as ever concert wise and according to her myspace blog is working on another album.
1)"Power" doesn't mean "good". There are plenty of people with "powerful" voices that sound powerfully horrible. Dylan was quoted in a 1975 interview as saying that her voice could "strip varnish ar grate cheese".
Gosh you're an aggressive soul huh? What is it with some people that they can't cope different opinions to their own? If you lie her that's entirely your perogative, but abusing others that don't only makes you look shallow.

who can sing if she can't? Power, range, clarity and soul. you're deaf!
And where do you suggest to go, if your home is devastated? While you sing in your music class, the real world is outside!
Check out Mavis Staples' also awesome version of Ain't Gonna Let Nobody on her new lp We'll Never Turn Back.
4;06 - It took forever, but "Stinkin' Kissinger" beat her to the grave!
Waow! How powerful se is! Where was it?

Actually the sound quality of this is not great. She still had IT here. Regardless, a GREAT interpretation!
@@claytonmagee5368 100% correct. I was writing about 2010 era
Janis always had a hard on for Joan.

I guess everyone has different tastes but I could nvr understand what it is that people lik about her voice. To me it is very harsh and grating
WOW that's a witty insult. Nearly as "powerful" as Joans voice
Tut tut a bit sensitive there "rd". I'm in good company though, Dylan didn't like her voice either. It's an old peeps voice.
pain to my ears owwwwwwwwwwwww
I think you are not involved in any politics, because you are either too much occcupied or to shamefull to involve in real jesus belongs!
