Yeah, I have to say that I was really shocked, depressed even, when I saw the video the first time back then - thinking that this was the end of BM (who I just had discovered 1 year before). But luckily it was just a bit of lore gone wild. 🙂
It is pretty straightforward to me that they put the third shooting star as a recognition to Yui being one of the three metal spirits of this first ten years. Not much field for speculation.
In interviews, Su and Moa stated the break was planned five years in advance, even while Yui was still performing with Babymetal. When Yui left, Su and Moa were determined to complete the 10 years of the Metal Resistance. Even now knowing they have returned this is a very emotional song and tugs hard at one's heart. Later in the interview, they discussed how they spent their time during the break. It was during the break, they both realized how important Babymetal was to them and to the ONE. Especially concerning they had given half their lives to BM. Both Su and Moa discussed how important each was to BM's success. (Su considers Moa as her partner) IMO it was Su's way of saying she needs Moa's support to continue the journey. This song is the end of the Metal Resistance and "Legend" is the end of The Other One, and the beginning of the mature Babymetal. (Clear Night on 02 Apr is the end of TOO) They expect to continue performing (together) for many years to come (Moa). See the interview in 2023 PMC Vol 27 interview.
You can see what so many fans thought it was a farewell when they saw it. It caused such consternation that Koba had to clarify that it wasn't a permanent goodbye and that they were just going on hiatus. It's made more interesting by what Su and Moa said in recent interviews, because it seems that it wasn't 100% guaranteed that they were going to come back and it was only after some time off that the found the desire to return.
Like I said to GMG, you'll know when it's the end from how Moa reacts at the end of the last concert. When she is bawling, THEN we worry, but she was cheerful and happy, so I didn't think they'd be gone for good. I think deep down they knew they were returning, even IF they thought they wanted to see how much Babymetal meant to them, they knew it was now a part of them, at the very least subconsciously.
Yes. I assume the conditions of Yui's return might have been motivated and triggered Su and Moa not to give up, but to start something really new as a reunited threesome . .
Yeah, with that ending a lot of fans started freaking out, at the point that Koba had go on an interview and tell people that was not Babymetal disbanding, but only going on hiatus because of the pandemic and the impossibility of touring! The third start for sure it was also representing YUi! Ther has been a really recent interview with the girls, and SU said she really needed that break :)
@@johnschultz7765 Reread those interviews. It's a mistake to interpret her as being convinced she was done with metal and therefore Babymetal only to realize that she couldn't live without it. This was filmed at Budokan during their BUDOKAN X series of shows, was it a farewell? 👍 👍 great reaction to a beautiful performance. Most (me included) consider the third light to be an homage to Yui (both Suzuka and Moa have said that Yui will always be a part of the BabyMetal family).
Thanks for this reaction. The One has many different versions. When the album came out a special edition of the album had an unfinished version, which is basically the music of this version. The original version was partly English and Japanese and at the time the international release of the album had the full English version. In recent years when performing live they've made a mixed version: starts like the unfinished version and traditions in the regular version. So this was a new version, English version of the unfinished version. And so far a one time performance. It's amazing to see how much time they spend on making this video, they already had the venue available for their shows of course, but make a complete performance of it, with the right lighting, etc. is kind of crazy. All for no audience, but created a video. This video closed the book on the 10 year journey of Metal Resistance era which they shared with Yuimetal, so it's assumed to be Yuimetal. It hit many of hard, it was more than 90% certain to most fans they would come back...
Also something which was very interesting to me: Suzuka loves Karaoke, during the hiatus she didn't have to take care of her voice for Babymetal, so she often had session of her singing Karaoke of 8 to 10 hours (!). Her love for singing is very clear. 🙂
@Monkey Gameplays Su mentioned it in a recent metal magazine that she couldn't stop herself from singing on her own for 8+ hours a day even though she was going to rest.
If you play BABYMETAL's new song The Legend right after this you can see how well they fit together. All the lyrics really join the two. (specially the last line : We are The Legend) This version of The One is my favourite but I can't listen to it too much because it hits me hard emotionally. As for the 3 lights... They mean what you want them to be. Su has said that of all her music. It is up to the listener to decide what the meaning is for them. To me I felt they represent Su Moa and Yui because Su and Moa left the door open for Yui's return if she wanted to. Yui was never officially replaced so her spirit was still a part of BABYMETAL. Now with a new BABYMETAL begining, there were 3 thrones one empty and waiting to be filled on day 1 and at the end of day 2 there appeared a third coffin with a figure in front of it. The announcement was for a new metal to be born. To me that means a third person (possibly Momoko) will officially have Metal added to her name. Whatever the Fox God does I will be happy and keep supporting this amazing group. 🤘🦊🤘
The Fox God? He should do his homework. If he's not capable of winning Yuyui Mizuno back after such a long period of time, he's simply incompetent - and not worth being supported or admired by anyone . . . 😎
It was the last song they sang in the last decade. I think they want to sing for fans in different countries around the world. So they chose the English version of THE ONE.🦊
Great reaction, thanks! You are right this is extremely beautiful and it STILL hits hard emotionally. Does the three lights in the end have a meaning= Knowing what we know about how Koba works and the BABYMETAL lore, absolutely! What represents the third light is kinda speculation but I'm 99,99% sure it represents Yui. Because she deserves it and it's the proper way to thank her for all those years. To put this in perspective: if they finally add a third official member, they needed five and a half years to make that decision. See you later!
The waiting worth the effort to watch this version in the right time. We got many speculations around that time but one thing for some fans were clear after knowing this modus operandi, this wasn't the end, it was the final Metal Resistance chapter thou. Regardless, that ending always choke me up. If you didn't notice, when the BM logo turns grey is a reference to sealing the group. The "Stairway To Living Legend" was something they post in their social networks months before this song, the road to this was very long, more than a decade, and they earned the _living legend_ status in their own right, now in the path of becoming a myth. Everyone love and miss Yui but i think next live shows will clear the answers once and for all, or maybe not, after all Yui bross are persistent and they don't wanna let her go. SuMetal is amazing with this type of songs delivering the emotion and reaching our souls, but we can't deny that she's still bad when lip syncing 😅 Love my queen ❤️ Thanks for sharing this GMG and I'll wait for your journey into the new BM concept album. _We are The One_ _Forever_ 🦊🤘🔥
I agree, Su is amazing at this. She has such a way of singing her emotions! This was a great way for me to close out the 10 years before moving into the new stuff I haven't checked out yet! Thanks!
I have to admit I was a bit worried about the future of Babymetal after seeing this video. While it was absolutely beautiful, it gave me a sinking feeling at the same time. Then someone pointed out that, if they were to quit, they would go out in a blaze of glory. They wouldn't pass up the chance to sell as much merch as possible. :) Besides, the lore that went along with this said "UNTIL the seal is broken" not IF the seal is broken. That left the window wide open for their return. It does sound like they really did contemplate leaving though. As far as the 3 lights at the end, no one is in the know. we are only in the speculation. If such a phrase can exist. My guess, and it is only a guess, is that it had nothing to do with Yui. Unless she really is coming back. They have made it very clear they are forward looking so having Yui joining them at the end doesn't really fit. I think the key point is, the lights converge at the end. Seems logical to suggest its a third member. And yes, one could argue that third new member is possibly Yui.
You are wrong, she didn't sing to you, she was clearly singing to me. :-) I was one of those who didn't rule out that they would never return from their hiatus, so needless to say, I was pretty much devastated. And in their recent interviews it did indeed sound like it was absolutely an option, contrary to what some fans "knew". But I have to hand it to Koba: If this had been their final goodbye, it would have been a perfect one.
Nice reaction. A Lot happened there. This was released after the 10 years of Babymetal at the Budokan shows. As you can tell it was filmed there as well. As you have said many thought that was the end. I personally never thought so. With the covid lockdowns going into full swing. Every artist was barred from performing. And the talk about them being sealed helped me know that wasn't the end. Frankly if it was you wouldn't even bother with the whole sealed thing. It would be easy enough to just finish it at the end of the 10 years of Babymetal shows. With that said. This is an amazing music video. Gets you right in the feels. Starting with Su singing by herself. Fitting since Babymetal was built around her. The 3rd album has a theme of Su and Moa representing the Sun and the Moon. When Moa joins in she orbits around the stage. While Su is leading the chorus of the song. And in Moa's moon colors. Then the lighting switches to Su's Sun colors and Moa leads the chorus. Very cool imagery. The way they move up the stairs is a throwback to their earlier days when they would walk on to the stage in the same manner. From what I'm told culturally speaking in Japanese lore only troublemakers walked this way. I know it's hard to think of them as troublemakers. But for the metal community when they started out that's exactly what they were. Being different from the rest of the metal community. With their infectious Kawaii happy songs. For some they thought Babymetal would be the end of metal. That didn't happen and Babymetal has become the leading international Japanese metal band. The end of the video is up to interpretation. For me that's Yuimetal who is and always will be part of the Babymetal family as Su and Moa have said. IMO the idea of a new metal was probably born during the covid lockdowns. If and when that happens Hopefully Su and Moa can let us in on when that happened. And maybe even the process they went through to make it happen.
I saw it when it came out. it was devastating...it was painful...it made tears fall...me and many others thought this was babymetal's "goodbye". it was hard for a lot of fans to watch... and yes, most thought the third star was for yui. and now? yes, i'm glad babymetal is back....but i despise the whole management. fans are there to fool around...it's all about money
I don't know if this is true so don't hold it against me if it is not, but I heard that Koba had to fight quite hard to keep this project going even pledging to use his own money to fund it if Amuse did not want to
excellent content GMoon-Metal, as emotional as this was at the time, I had a feeling that it wasn't over and low and behold they knew then that they were taking a year off, it was the pandemic that screwed up the timing, well all's well that ends well I guess, and there are a few different versions of this song, the original three did the official version, and an English version, and a unfinished version which is only piano and the three, but at Legend S they did a hybrid version where it is part like this and then the band comes in with Moa and Muscle-Metal and the Chosen 7 dancers and later with an avenger, and that is the version we have been getting mostly and for the lore the fox-god can only be on earth if he is split into 3 pieces, one for each of the original 3, but then Yui left, so her light was split in half and given to SU and MOA so they could continue with Yui in their hearts, and when they came up with the avengers lore, the fox-god took Yui's light and split it into 3 and sent them to Yokohama (Yui's hometown) to form the avengers
Hi GMG. Nice reaction. To answer your question about the "3 dots" as you put it (3 comets is how I kinda see it), I don't think that really gets answered very clearly. HOWEVER, that being said, both Moa and Su have stated more than once that even though Yui left the band, she will always be part of the Babymetal family. So many of us believe that the 3rd comet is in honour of Yui. As to the rest of your reaction, I fully agree, this hits different. In some ways much harder even and it was done BEAUTIFULLY. I think you are correct about Babymetal not wanting fans to know if they were going to return, because to be honest they actually didn't know either. Recently there was an article in a metal magazine (sorry I forgot which one it was), where Su and Moa actually admitted that when they went on their hiatus, they just wanted to live their lives for a while to see how they would feel without any Babymetal. Just live normal lives. They wanted to see how much Babymetal meant to them (this isn't exact wording, just the summed up notes as I understood it). Eventually though they came to realize they missed it all and so they returned. That being said, I kind of knew from the very beginning that they'd return, and I stated it on many other reactor channels when people asked if that was the end of Babymetal. Moa is the key. She cannot hide her emotions lol So if Babymetal is ever going to end, you'll see it through Moa. She'll be bawling her eyes out. When I saw their last show, Moa was happy as ever and cheerful, not a tear. So this told me they were going to be back. I think deep down both knew they'd be returning, but they needed a break. They were actually talking about taking this Hiatus over 5 years ago when Yui was still in the band even, but they decided to wait until they hit their 10 year anniversary. It just so happened to coincide with the Pandemic, so it was good timing in a lot of ways. Anyhow, hope that helps some.
You see the third "spirit" flying away with Su's ans Moa's? It's Yuyui Mizuno's spirit, who will be reunited with Babymetal on Fox Day April, 1st. Be fascinated. . .
I was one in the small minority that was quite convinced this was a final farewell. And I was sure Suzuka in particular was done with Su-metal. Seems I was not so far off since Su- has reported saying to herself "no more metal!" Kobametal, sly fox that he is, kept the door from being slammed shut, locked, and barred. The book he wrote on what is metal helped provide some funding to keep some staff as there would be no new revenue otherwise. The three lights leaving at the end were the metal spirits Su-metal, Moametal, and then Yuimetal joining, and leaving our universe. No chance in my mind the third was a placeholder for a future new member. There was no future plan. But the fox god works in mysterious ways and Suzuka has decided to reprise her role as Su-metal. As she said: "Babymetal is fiction." And it has been one heck of a story. The sequel begins on Fox Day. 🤘🦊🔥 EDIT: Source of the Su-metal quotes is the Billboard online republication of a Billboard Japan interview.
Reread those interviews. It's a mistake to interpret her as being convinced she was done with metal and therefore Babymetal only to realize that she couldn't live without it. Great reaction to a incredible emotional version of “The One”! The three lights taking off could mean either (the future or the past), but to me personally, it is a reminiscence to Yui since she was part of the Metal Resistance era. And yes, there was a lot of concern among fans that this might be the end of Babymetal, especially since the video came out after they finished the 10 Babymetal Budokan shows. To me it is crazy to think about the amount of work, time, and money that went into the making of that special video filmed in the Budokan arena without anyone being there. Either way, I am so happy that they came back, more mature and amazing than ever with the new album! ❤️🤘🔥🦊

@Monkey Gameplays Su mentioned it in a recent metal magazine that she couldn't stop herself from singing on her own for 8+ hours a day even though she was going to rest.
I love all the different versions!
If you play BABYMETAL's new song The Legend right after this you can see how well they fit together. All the lyrics really join the two. (specially the last line : We are The Legend)
This version of The One is my favourite but I can't listen to it too much because it hits me hard emotionally.
If he's not capable of winning Yuyui Mizuno back after such a long period of time, he's simply incompetent - and not worth being supported or admired by anyone . . . 😎
The Fox God will reveal all this Saturday (Hopefully)
Based on the reverb, it sounds like they did record the audio in the stadium.
Nice!
I think, in light of new interviews, that this was Su saying goodbye, er retirering from Babymetal.
Lucky that she changed her mind.
Definitely lucky for us!
It was the last song they sang in the last decade. I think they want to sing for fans in different countries around the world. So they chose the English version of THE ONE.🦊
Nice! thanks!
That's a good point on how long it's taken! Thanks!
There's a lady that sure
All that glitters is gold
And she buying a stairway to heaven
I see what you did there! Nice!
SuMetal is amazing with this type of songs delivering the emotion and reaching our souls, but we can't deny that she's still bad when lip syncing 😅 Love my queen ❤️
Thanks for sharing this GMG and I'll wait for your journey into the new BM concept album.

OTFGK...Until Saturday ( hopefully)! Thanks!

WooHoo!
You are wrong, she didn't sing to you, she was clearly singing to me. :-)
I was one of those who didn't rule out that they would never return from their hiatus, so needless to say, I was pretty much devastated. And in their recent interviews it did indeed sound like it was absolutely an option, contrary to what some fans "knew". But I have to hand it to Koba: If this had been their final goodbye, it would have been a perfect one.
Thanks!!
Definitely got me in the feels! Thanks!
Thanks!
I don't know if this is true so don't hold it against me if it is not, but I heard that Koba had to fight quite hard to keep this project going even pledging to use his own money to fund it if Amuse did not want to
At this point, nothing involving Koba would be too far fetched for me to believe. LOL
excellent content GMoon-Metal, as emotional as this was at the time, I had a feeling that it wasn't over and low and behold they knew then that they were taking a year off, it was the pandemic that screwed up the timing, well all's well that ends well I guess, and there are a few different versions of this song, the original three did the official version, and an English version, and a unfinished version which is only piano and the three, but at Legend S they did a hybrid version where it is part like this and then the band comes in with Moa and Muscle-Metal and the Chosen 7 dancers and later with an avenger, and that is the version we have been getting mostly and for the lore the fox-god can only be on earth if he is split into 3 pieces, one for each of the original 3, but then Yui left, so her light was split in half and given to SU and MOA so they could continue with Yui in their hearts, and when they came up with the avengers lore, the fox-god took Yui's light and split it into 3 and sent them to Yokohama (Yui's hometown) to form the avengers
God I love lore!
Thanks so much for the explanation! Appreciate it!
You see the third "spirit" flying away with Su's ans Moa's? It's Yuyui Mizuno's spirit, who will be reunited with Babymetal on Fox Day April, 1st. Be fascinated. . .
It's been five and a half years since Yui was on stage with BABYMETAL.
Time to let go.
@@rickwagner- If she doesn't return on Fox Day, then we'll "let her go" - Not even a second earlier . . .
You're on some strong hopium.
We'll find out on Saturday (Hopefully)
EDIT: Source of the Su-metal quotes is the Billboard online republication of a Billboard Japan interview.
I can't wait to hear reports of the big announcement on Saturday!
Reread those interviews. It's a mistake to interpret her as being convinced she was done with metal and therefore Babymetal only to realize that she couldn't live without it. She just wanted a break, to focus on other things for a while, just be herself, and relax, but was surprised at how quickly she missed both metal and Babymetal. It's perfectly normal to want to avoid anything having to do with your job when you go on vacation.
@@gaplauche , not a mere vacation. See my response in the other thread.
Definitely, Yui, in my opinion, because they said at the beginning " 3 metal spirts " ❤❤❤😁🤘🏼🦊
My immediate thought was Yui as well!
