I feel for ya brother and I know EXACTLY how it feels to have stuff stolen. I live in a rural part of Washington state and own land off the beaten path. I know it was locals because of where my property is located. They came back multiple times and took firewood, a harrow rake, large propane tanks, broke into my cabin and cleaned me out, and believe it or not, they even took my outhouse. I'm just like you, I don't want to harm anyone, however, this type of thief is unpredictable, possibly on drugs and who knows what they are capable of doing to escape prosecution. The sheriff's response time can be as much as an hour or more, so I am on my own for that much time. I ALWAYS pack heat with me just because. I'm glad to hear you got some of your stuff back. I hate thieves too.

It would cost you very little to use Amazon, Temu etc to buy a few cameras for outdoor and indoor use, they'd even alert you if they're on your property! I have bought trail cams from Temu for $20, and it WORKS GREAT!! Think of how much a few of these cities SAVE YOU! Plus, I have ALWAYS had dogs; these are the best, most dependable early warning system ever, plus they guard and protect too!
Im telling you this out of love brother. I completely understand that your blood was probably boiling the nanosecond that you saw that truck. Im begging you, please dont ever approach the door of someone who is possibly a criminal alone, even when you have the proper equipment. That could've been an ambush my brother. Any time you want to confront someone at their house, knock on the door and take a few steps to the left or right. Never straight back. In basic cqb training they teach you that thresholds and door ways are known as the "fatal funnel". Always approach a house as if you are getting ready to clear it, and keep yourself in a position where you can see your surroundings and be successful.

I'm glad you shared this with us and I applaud you for standing up for yourself. I only stole one time when I was just a kid, me and my older brother stole candy from the local grocery store and granted that was so long ago when they called it penny candy. When my dad saw all the candy we had he asked how did you pay for it? We just hung our heads in shame and he knew that we didn't have money to pay for it. He drove us back to the store and return all the candy and when we got back home he dang near ruined a perfectly good belt from tanning our hides with it. God rest his soul he was a Great Dad.
I'm glad you caught up with these thieves! Them using that truck is really stupid as it is about as inconspicuous as it gets, and not to mention just about everything is on camera now just about anywhere. Many thieves are addicts looking to get money for the next high, and then there are the ones who make a career out of it. Either way, it's a bad road to nowhere for them. It would be nice to think they would take this as a lesson and try to make change in their lives, but I doubt it. It took a good bit of determination to stop at the home where the truck was and ask questions, but I commend you for doing just that and giving the option of bringing back the items they stole. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't all probably in the house hiding, trying to figure out how to call the cops on you for trespassing, without getting themselves caught in the process.
The only thing that worried me Shaun is you going on that property not knowing if the people that live there are dangerous just wasn't safe putting yourself in that situation not knowing what could have happened. Glad your safe.

About a month ago a got my Sthl 800 stolen from my truck bed outside of a Publix in the parking lot. I only had a a couple weeks. It was my first 800. I started with a super cheap handheld gas craftsman from Facebook market. Then upgrade to a new br200 then used home depot echo blower then br600 then br800 over 4 years time so hard work definitely put it. I hade to upgrade my insurance and bought equipment defenders rack immediately. I bought 2 blower racks, 1 back pack weed sprayer rack and line spool rack. Much respect. Even more respect for you then I already had Sean. That shows a lot of respect and courage. Good for you man. Thieves should be confronted. Something I use. I get some locations people have items are out in the middle on nowhere. Besides. I went on Amazon and bought cheap motorcycle alarms. 1. They work on a single 12v battery. 2. LED lights can be wired in. 3. They are supper motion sensitive. 4. They work on a key fob. 5. The horn is supper loud. Mine have pickup, an earthquake two states away. 6. They do not use that much battery. 7. Their easy to hide on anything. 8. Way to easy to install. I am just sharing.

One double set that are the same color to say, left side lights. The other set to right side lights. Mount the black main computer box on anything solid. Frame, etc. Yet. The box and horn where no one can mess with them. It has a warning. Then, the alarm goes off the second time. If it churps. Battery is low. Supper loud horn. I warned you.
Well 8 caught the ones stealing from me red handed blocked them in and got there before the cops, cops were in on the stealing not a big surprise , senior officer told me to unblock the exit or else . I refused he ask for ID, show him ID my home, guy caught says no this is my house, then claims it his bosses house. Cop again insist I move, no. I'm going to see what else they stole, cop stops me , you can't enter the property ? Call your supervisor, I'm the supervisor, call your chief , he puts his hand on his gun . I told you move the car ....seems I was dealing with crooked cops who were working with a group of travelers... all toll , complete shop gone, including a 4x6x14 foot stack of finished oak and several pieces of walnut. Kitchen cabinets rear security door, side and shop doors destroyed, even furniture and toys ... called to get police report oops no report out of 3 cars that showed up ....distric 3 Cincinnati.
Now there was a gun shop on the corner , as I passed by I noticed the alarm was laying on the ground and two men were inside,the rear door ajar and a strange white Chevy in the drive. Given the alarm horn was filled with what appeared to be foam, I figured it might be a break in. Called distric 3, and waited. They showed up 47 minutes latter, the white Chevy long gone, police approached guns drawn did I mention the station was 5 blocks away. At 60 minutes they knocked at my door. Are you sure it was a break in, what was the plate number, I told you I didn't get it, even though the officer ask you to. Yep want me to go back out and get the license number WTF moment . No it's a gun store and that is beyond stupid. Show us the alarm. So I walk up show them the horn , they pass it around, yep filled with expanding foam, then torn off the building best guess it made noise when they open the rear door. So one reached up and yanked it down, prints ? Gee they were mad at me for not risking my life to get that number. .
I really don't understand why "they have not been caught"? Yes; you have to go to court, as they will have some lawyer drag the thing out as long as they can, USUALLY, at taxpayer expense by the fact they don't work, and live on welfare, etc. The problem today is that Prosecution is so hard, with friendly judges in place EVERYWHERE, who think property crimes are "very low" on the Case list.......even though you, as you said, worked HARD to buy the stuff; that doesn't matter. You've seen so many times where people had break-ins in their HOMES, and the perp sues them if he gets injured (heaven help you if you shoot one). We need to get back to being secure in your possessions, AND your person, and being legally allowed to protect it, without liability. It ain't gonna happen in today's world, but it WILL return when people grow a little more tired of this crap.
With the ongoing perversion of the Justice System, society is better off if the criminal doesn't survive the encounter. And the victim is far safer if the criminal just disappears while committing crimes on the victim's property...

I must say you were brave to go to the house when you spotted the truck in question, I would have been strapped with a side arm, a thief can be dangerous in more then one way We have the same problem here but in many cases the property in question is sold across state lines and never recovered even though the persons involved get prosecuted. Many times the people are issued probation and are out doing the same thing again. Kudo's to you for keeping your composer during this time, I' would have been livid!!!

I would love to see a list of police properties. My guess is they prioritize simple crimes that can be prosecuted quickly so they can get some money. Like speeding tickets. Doing real police work is hard and they are mostly lazy and just want to do easy work. Very frustrating to see what the government does with our hard earned money. I believe things will get better as more people are waking up to the reality and corruption
I had a guy call late this afternoon about a garage door he wanted repaired yet today. I pulled strings and jumped through hoops to get the parts for the repair only to have him ask me for the 4th time about the cost and then he ghosted me. Now I’ve bought a part I don’t know when I might need again and a chunk of time running after it. It’s not quite the same as stealing, but it cost me money and time just the same. Completely disrespectful! So hard to pray for someone who does that.
I stopped doing anything until I get a deposit, and don't give quotes over the phone. If someone wants me to work on their vehicle, they gotta bring me the car first, and pay up front before I order anything, even a 1 dollar sample of product. People waste other people's time way too often.

It is unfortunate that law enforcement and the legal system doesn't make this more of a priority. And that if you take it upon yourself to remedy the situation by infringing on the perpetrator's rights then that becomes a priority to the legal system. Other wise it's just an unofficial tax on the victims and taxpayers. This government needs to stop funding wars of other countries and fund the war on drugs and crime in this country!

I remember around 1980 in Harrison, AR. There was a snow and not many people got out. Someone reoorted a break-in. The police went to investigate and found footprints in the snow. They just followed them back to another residence and made an arrest. Some people not too brilliant!

It's actually amazing the effort these people put in for such little return in most cases. If they put that much effort into a real job they would be much further ahead. It's a crazy philosophy they have. But we have had several things stolen and the effort into stealing what they did was far more than if they did it it legally. I just don't understand where their logic comes into play.

I can totally relate. As a 15 year old who bought a kubota zg332 in July, I used the bagger and vacuum on it in the fall, left the vacuum in my dads truck bed and was nowhere to be found and was fairly heavy and big for it to just disappear and kubota no longer makes that model, and one that may or may not fit is $2500 and it’s not like I have money laying around. Really sucks you have to worry about these people

had a guy try and get in my home i had just put up 4 cameras, he first pounded on front door i got up got my 12 ga and set on the couch, he climbed up to unhook one of the cameras but it was just out of his reach but i got a nice close up of his face he went to back door and starts kicking it i just wait for him to break in then he left and he was lucky, cause i told cops i was on couch and was gonna take him out if he got in, cop new the gang banger and a few weeks later cop saw the kid and told him what i had ready for him cop said kid almost pasted out and that was the first winter in my home and 11 more winters never was bordered again

Those thieves remind me of this movie I watched as a little kid on HBO in the 80s with Sean Penn and HIs brother Chris. They stole farm equipment for their father and when they got caught dad killed one and tried to kill the other or something like that. The dad was Christopher Walken I think? Guys like this always get caught in the end. They end up needing to do it more and more since they can't work a real job because they're up all night stealing or trying to steal. This also reminds me of this story in Texas I think where thieves are stealing food trucks and smokers from businesses. And even with proof the cops don't do much or hadn't last i heard. They were dragging their feet. If you have proof why wait? Catch them WITH the stuff before they sell it is imo the best way to get them. Then you pressure them for the ppl they sell them to and snag them up. Scare them into thinking their wives are going to prison as well to get the accomplices etc.

You are a good man and God is all knowing. It’s sad how little the police do nowadays, there are more UA-camrs catching pedos than there are cops catching them. It’s not like they are working on more important things. They are doing easy work like speed traps. Lazy. However they justify their negligence is inexcusable. My cars were robbed at my house and we had clear evidence of the vehicle used and no arrests were made. Hope these people are given long prison sentences and hopefully charged for the multiple crimes they’ve committed. Likely they are drug addicts

I have had the same stuff happen. So I installed camera system and signs. Didn't recover any my property. Believe it was people I knew. So cut ties with this poeple. Been no problems with thief. A friend of mine that owns a motorcycle shop had his F350 dually stolen back last summer. He put out a reward. Someone found it in a city 100 miles away. He drove down, opened the door, and drove off with it. He called the police on the way home and told them he had recovered it.
Shawn be very careful going onto these peoples property and confronting them. One never knows how violent and desperate they can be. Hopefully by now they've been arrested and charged.

If there is anything I hate in life, it is a thief and I hate anyone who covers for a thief....and that lady knew what was going on so, ergo, just as guilty as if she were right there doing the stealing....she needs prosecution as well for covering for them. You should put some sort of lock on the plows when they are off the trucks. I too hate a theft. Had my mowing trailer stolen back in October. Luckily I got it back a couple of days later.
It's sad that people are so predictable with this issue. Seems that the rule of thumb these days is if I see it, I can take it, (steal it), with no remorse or conscience about it. It's everywhere. Any time of the day. If you're home or not. I'm so glad this is resolved for you. I wish more would have similar results.
You so much remind me of something minor I did . My daughters bike was stolen off the front porch . I rounded up 12 kids from the neighborhood. Well by this time too some of the kids had ratted them out. I walked up and down the line of kids and said it better reappear on my porch tonight or I am calling the police and then I turned to 2 of the kids and I said I know you and you had something to do with it. It wouldn’t have been so bad if I wasn’t hurting from foot surgery days before so I really was not appreciative of it. The bike was returned before dark !!! Yep hate a thief we have so many cameras no matter where you are on property you can be seen, even in the dark. Doesn’t matter if you point a high power light cameras will still get your mug.

I have a small lawn care snow removal business myself so I would appreciate knowing what you would do in a situation like that.

I'm glad you shared this with us and I applaud you for standing up for yourself. I only stole one time when I was just a kid, me and my older brother stole candy from the local grocery store and granted that was so long ago when they called it penny candy. When my dad saw all the candy we had he asked how did you pay for it? We just hung our heads in shame and he knew that we didn't have money to pay for it. He drove us back to the store and return all the candy and when we got back home he dang near ruined a perfectly good belt from tanning our hides with it. God rest his soul he was a Great Dad.
I'm glad you caught up with these thieves! Them using that truck is really stupid as it is about as inconspicuous as it gets, and not to mention just about everything is on camera now just about anywhere. Many thieves are addicts looking to get money for the next high, and then there are the ones who make a career out of it. Either way, it's a bad road to nowhere for them. It would be nice to think they would take this as a lesson and try to make change in their lives, but I doubt it. It took a good bit of determination to stop at the home where the truck was and ask questions, but I commend you for doing just that and giving the option of bringing back the items they stole. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't all probably in the house hiding, trying to figure out how to call the cops on you for trespassing, without getting themselves caught in the process.

About a month ago a got my Sthl 800 stolen from my truck bed outside of a Publix in the parking lot. I only had a a couple weeks. It was my first 800. I started with a super cheap handheld gas craftsman from Facebook market. Then upgrade to a new br200 then used home depot echo blower then br600 then br800 over 4 years time so hard work definitely put it.
I hade to upgrade my insurance and bought equipment defenders rack immediately. I bought 2 blower racks, 1 back pack weed sprayer rack and line spool rack. Much respect. Even more respect for you then I already had Sean. That shows a lot of respect and courage. Good for you man. Thieves should be confronted. It was just a matter of time before they get caught or stole from someone who pull up on them. GOD bless brother. Sorry that happen. Did you get an update. Did they return it or get your money back? Something I use. I get some locations people have items are out in the middle on nowhere. Besides. I went on Amazon and bought cheap motorcycle alarms. 1. They work on a single 12v battery. 2. LED lights can be wired in. 3. They are supper motion sensitive. 4. They work on a key fob. 5. The horn is supper loud. Mine have pickup, an earthquake two states away. 6. They do not use that much battery. 7. Their easy to hide on anything. 8. Way to easy to install. I am just sharing.

One double set that are the same color to say, left side lights. The other set to right side lights. Mount the black main computer box on anything solid. Frame, etc. Yet. The box and horn where no one can mess with them. It has a warning. Then, the alarm goes off the second time. If it churps. Battery is low. Supper loud horn. I warned you.
Well 8 caught the ones stealing from me red handed blocked them in and got there before the cops, cops were in on the stealing not a big surprise , senior officer told me to unblock the exit or else . I refused he ask for ID, show him ID my home, guy caught says no this is my house, then claims it his bosses house. Cop again insist I move, no. I'm going to see what else they stole, cop stops me , you can't enter the property ? Call your supervisor, I'm the supervisor, call your chief , he puts his hand on his gun . I told you move the car ....seems I was dealing with crooked cops who were working with a group of travelers... all toll , complete shop gone, including a 4x6x14 foot stack of finished oak and several pieces of walnut. Kitchen cabinets rear security door, side and shop doors destroyed, even furniture and toys ... called to get police report oops no report out of 3 cars that showed up ....distric 3 Cincinnati.

Now there was a gun shop on the corner , as I passed by I noticed the alarm was laying on the ground and two men were inside,the rear door ajar and a strange white Chevy in the drive. Given the alarm horn was filled with what appeared to be foam, I figured it might be a break in. Called distric 3, and waited. They showed up 47 minutes latter, the white Chevy long gone, police approached guns drawn did I mention the station was 5 blocks away. At 60 minutes they knocked at my door. Are you sure it was a break in, what was the plate number, I told you I didn't get it, even though the officer ask you to. Yep want me to go back out and get the license number WTF moment . No it's a gun store and that is beyond stupid. Show us the alarm. So I walk up show them the horn , they pass it around, yep filled with expanding foam, then torn off the building best guess it made noise when they open the rear door. So one reached up and yanked it down, prints ? Gee they were mad at me for not risking my life to get that number. .
I really don't understand why "they have not been caught"? Yes; you have to go to court, as they will have some lawyer drag the thing out as long as they can, USUALLY, at taxpayer expense by the fact they don't work, and live on welfare, etc. The problem today is that Prosecution is so hard, with friendly judges in place EVERYWHERE, who think property crimes are "very low" on the Case list.......even though you, as you said, worked HARD to buy the stuff; that doesn't matter. You've seen so many times where people had break-ins in their HOMES, and the perp sues them if he gets injured (heaven help you if you shoot one). We need to get back to being secure in your possessions, AND your person, and being legally allowed to protect it, without liability. It ain't gonna happen in today's world, but it WILL return when people grow a little more tired of this crap.

I'm so glad you got this situation satisfied. I remember watching you discuss this when it first started. I'm like you ,I despise a Thief or anyone who abuses children. I must say you were brave to go to the house when you spotted the truck in question, I would have been strapped with a side arm, a thief can be dangerous in more then one way We have the same problem here but in many cases the property in question is sold across state lines and never recovered even though the persons involved get prosecuted. Many times the people are issued probation and are out doing the same thing again. Kudo's to you for keeping your composer during this time, I' would have been livid!!!

I would love to see a list of police properties. My guess is they prioritize simple crimes that can be prosecuted quickly so they can get some money. Like speeding tickets. Doing real police work is hard and they are mostly lazy and just want to do easy work. Very frustrating to see what the government does with our hard earned money. I believe things will get better as more people are waking up to the reality and corruption

I had a guy call late this afternoon about a garage door he wanted repaired yet today. I pulled strings and jumped through hoops to get the parts for the repair only to have him ask me for the 4th time about the cost and then he ghosted me. Now I’ve bought a part I don’t know when I might need again and a chunk of time running after it. It’s not quite the same as stealing, but it cost me money and time just the same. Completely disrespectful! So hard to pray for someone who does that.
I stopped doing anything until I get a deposit, and don't give quotes over the phone. If someone wants me to work on their vehicle, they gotta bring me the car first, and pay up front before I order anything, even a 1 dollar sample of product. People waste other people's time way too often.

It is unfortunate that law enforcement and the legal system doesn't make this more of a priority. And that if you take it upon yourself to remedy the situation by infringing on the perpetrator's rights then that becomes a priority to the legal system. Other wise it's just an unofficial tax on the victims and taxpayers. This government needs to stop funding wars of other countries and fund the war on drugs and crime in this country!

I remember around 1980 in Harrison, AR. There was a snow and not many people got out. Someone reoorted a break-in. The police went to investigate and found footprints in the snow. They just followed them back to another residence and made an arrest. Some people not too brilliant!

It's actually amazing the effort these people put in for such little return in most cases. If they put that much effort into a real job they would be much further ahead. It's a crazy philosophy they have. But we have had several things stolen and the effort into stealing what they did was far more than if they did it it legally. I just don't understand where their logic comes into play.

I can totally relate. As a 15 year old who bought a kubota zg332 in July, I used the bagger and vacuum on it in the fall, left the vacuum in my dads truck bed and was nowhere to be found and was fairly heavy and big for it to just disappear and kubota no longer makes that model, and one that may or may not fit is $2500 and it’s not like I have money laying around. Really sucks you have to worry about these people

had a guy try and get in my home i had just put up 4 cameras, he first pounded on front door i got up got my 12 ga and set on the couch, he climbed up to unhook one of the cameras but it was just out of his reach but i got a nice close up of his face he went to back door and starts kicking it i just wait for him to break in then he left and he was lucky, cause i told cops i was on couch and was gonna take him out if he got in, cop new the gang banger and a few weeks later cop saw the kid and told him what i had ready for him cop said kid almost pasted out and that was the first winter in my home and 11 more winters never was bordered again

Those thieves remind me of this movie I watched as a little kid on HBO in the 80s with Sean Penn and HIs brother Chris. They stole farm equipment for their father and when they got caught dad killed one and tried to kill the other or something like that. The dad was Christopher Walken I think? Guys like this always get caught in the end. They end up needing to do it more and more since they can't work a real job because they're up all night stealing or trying to steal.
This also reminds me of this story in Texas I think where thieves are stealing food trucks and smokers from businesses. And even with proof the cops don't do much or hadn't last i heard. They were dragging their feet. If you have proof why wait? Catch them WITH the stuff before they sell it is imo the best way to get them. Then you pressure them for the ppl they sell them to and snag them up. Scare them into thinking their wives are going to prison as well to get the accomplices etc.

You are a good man and God is all knowing. It’s sad how little the police do nowadays, there are more UA-camrs catching pedos than there are cops catching them. It’s not like they are working on more important things. They are doing easy work like speed traps. Lazy. However they justify their negligence is inexcusable. My cars were robbed at my house and we had clear evidence of the vehicle used and no arrests were made. Hope these people are given long prison sentences and hopefully charged for the multiple crimes they’ve committed. Likely they are drug addicts

I have had the same stuff happen. So I installed camera system and signs. Didn't recover any my property. Believe it was people I knew. So cut ties with this poeple. Been no problems with thief. A friend of mine that owns a motorcycle shop had his F350 dually stolen back last summer. He put out a reward. Someone found it in a city 100 miles away. He drove down, opened the door, and drove off with it. He called the police on the way home and told them he had recovered it.

You should put some sort of lock on the plows when they are off the trucks. I too hate a theft. Had my mowing trailer stolen back in October. Luckily I got it back a couple of days later.

You so much remind me of something minor I did . My daughters bike was stolen off the front porch . I rounded up 12 kids from the neighborhood. Well by this time too some of the kids had ratted them out. I walked up and down the line of kids and said it better reappear on my porch tonight or I am calling the police and then I turned to 2 of the kids and I said I know you and you had something to do with it. It wouldn’t have been so bad if I wasn’t hurting from foot surgery days before so I really was not appreciative of it. The bike was returned before dark !!! If that many people got robbed before you and for 7 months after you what more evidence did they need if they knew who they were? You say you got some of your stuff back but were they arrested and charged for any of the thefts?

After my husband passed, someone stole my barnful of hay. I worked 6 days a week, so they probably watched my comings and goings. I live off road so no one saw it. Now I don't really have anything worth stealing. My horses are gone.

That is some pieces of crap! Speaking nicely!!! Get some stencil that can stencil metal basically like engraving. I would put the business name in the plow somewheres in the metal that way you can walk by at the grocery store and see it. I love the tone you had with her! Straight to the point!
