Really enjoyed watching this! I've never seen outboard drag racing anywhere before this. Would really be nice if there was some captions or something to tell winners and times. I'll have to research to find out about the classes and if the old Evinrude is in the same class as the Mercurys. When I was a small kid we would go to outboard racing and it was really wild and I loved the smell of the castor oil they used in their fuel. Any boat activity is fun to watch!! I had a uncle who was part owner of Smithberry boat company and he was killed in a race in Florida back when I was so young I didn't know anything about it until many years later.
Fastest thing I ever owned was a tri hull with a 115 Evinrude, but had friends with fast boats like Allisons, STV, Hydrostream, etc. Which I rode in all with Modified 200s with small lower units, etc. And was scared and impressed UNTIL I rode in my friends V- Drive ( forgot the brand ) pickle fork that he converted to a 2 seater with a Blown Chevy Engine pulled out of his NHRA Pro Mod Corvette on Alcohol......OMFG...At a regatta he started it with the erratic idle and shifted into gear instantly and here I was holding on to a bucking horse with the choppy idle, he was trying to keep our no wake down ( no use ) till we got out in the open, than he kept it at idle until we reached the end of the lake to turn around and when he did ( no helmets or jackets on like an idiot ) he yells hold on. BANG the boat launches so hard like nothing I ever ever felt before, with his side up and for at least it seemed close to 50' than set back down and the ass end came up I remember and squeezing the grab bar with a death grip , wind in my eyes so hard couldn't see anything, and remembering the vibrations, and extremely loud zoomies singing, than like that it was over, he let off the throttle and it was kinda smooth coming down in speed, he was laughing at me cause I never been in something like that. He said he didn't make a full pass but when I got to look at the GPS it said 178mph. I will never ever forget that, it's something everyone should experience, but I recommend if you can afford it or go in with a buddy and build-drive it yourself..MY GOD 💪👍

man those Allisons are fast
That some rough water & a lot of wind. I’m glad no one was hurt
Big engines on small boats. That’s why they’re fast!
Ahhh why do I always here about after this done 😢
I bet the fisherman loved you guys....
The love goes both ways 😜
I can't get my enthusiasm lit for outboard drag racing. Don't think of them that way
👍👍👍💪💪💪
The inside lane almost always won. Must be faster water 😂
Those Triads are still fast as F
I saw Doc Weizenecker’s Ally.
Super
They still running 660 or 800 feet to keep speeds down?
It was 800ft here
😄👋👍👍👍👍👍
