That was one of the best reviews for any product I have seen. Short, understandable and a great voice / tone. Very well done Sir. Thank you for the info.
I have the same remote and it works fine. You are supposed to choose the mouse option and then with the headset on you can switch. I recommend installing the VR BOX launcher app Full dive because you don't need the remote or anything and you can switch through apps with its built in switcher. You can watch your home videos in 360 and it's awesome and has a lot mor features!
I like how they left a hole for the camera, in the headset itself. You know, once there is advancement, and updates on the firmware, where you can easily access camera to see through, without removing the headset.
I had a similar one to you. However faced the same issue with having to touch the screen on some apps. I ordered the cardboard V2 version and it came with a magnetic trigger which touches the screen from a press of a button. So I stuck with the cardboard version which cost half the price and done just a good job.
This product is WAY better with Android. As usual apple IOS proves to have poor compatibility. It works great with Android the Controller has 4 modes and allows full use in game or menu.
I've actually heard about some people who have actually managed to pair smartphones with PCs, so that you can use PC games with the VR headsets without having to pay hundreds for owning a PC only head-set with very minimal lag (it requires the use of a USB cable being plugged into the PC and certain software).
+Gene Gulanes I have an iPhone 6 myself, however I think that company is working on a iPhone to PC version. But I have seen one person use another program to stream via USB cable using a normal PC with their iPhone.
I have done it already, it works great, but only if you are near your computer. nearly no input lag, and what is there, you could probably blame it on fps drops or computer lag if anything And doing it wirelessly means the phone needs to be connected to the same wifi/router that your computer is. for me i have a switch because i have 2 computers in my room, so both get Ethernet, and i couldn't connect to my computer until i plugged my desktop straight into the router, and not the switch.
the Bluetooth controller actually works really well you just have to know how to connect it and when you connect it right it's just like using a mouse there's a little cursor that moves around your phone screen and you're able to select whatever you want even control your camera
Yeah, this is obviously from China and if you buy it bulk, you can ask them to add your branding to it. Multiple "brands" would have the same exact product.
Not to be an Android fan, as I don't know if it works on iOS, but the joystick is a mouse, on non-gaming mode. the controller mode can be enabled by pressing @+VOlDown key (left key when standing)
I also thought that remote is bad, but it actually can be switched to different control schemes. just press @ + a/b/c/d@+b works well for most of the games
Finally, someone who kept it real! I own the GEAR VR and am in love, but felt bad for my people who didn't have Samsung phones, which started me on this tedious trek (and watching lot of tedious UA-cam videos of people telling me "it's cool" without giving me 'real' specifics) to find a VR set that was compatible with all phones and interactive for holiday giving. In short, it doesn't exist yet. I thought the Bluetooth remote would help, other brands offer them also, but all experiences are exactly as you described (It seems like some cruel ploy just to get you to buy their device). They just do not work well enough (Thanks a lot Apple!). Lots of returns this year. In the end, even if you get a bunch of great VR apps and just want to enjoy viewing, you will be taking the headset off to change every game, and games are short. Gets tedious fast. Hopefully, your video will help in waking the market up to the fact that developers and smartphone manufacturers need to get moving on this process, or the public will lose faith and it will go the way of the 3-D TV. I would say to your viewers that what 'Everyday TechLife' said in this video applies to every VR headset on the market today, so if you must get one go for comfort and affordability. They are all the same thing, basically glorified binoculars. That's okay, but just be reminded it isn't there yet. If you have can afford the phone specific models, such as GEAR VR, Google Daydream or HTC Vive, get them. They are worth the cost. Thanks so much. Hope you don't mind my little rant. I wish I had seen your video two months ago. You have a sub for life.
If he read the instructions, the two front buttons beneath the joy stick control the execution of using apps. bottom button enters apps, top button exits...easy as that. I have this headset and its actually descent for the price.
it comes with an instruction. the bluetooth remote could turn into a mouse just press @ and d at the same time for gaming just press @ and b at the same time
I bought one of these and I do think the build quality is good etc, BUT, if you have used Google Cardboard before you'll notice that the VR Box differs in the fact that the field of view is not as wide. It's almost like looking into a Viewmaster where you notice the edges. When you use Google Cardboard you'll notice that the image is more zoomed in and you won't see any black edges.
The {@} Button pressed in a combination with A,B,C,D Gives you a deferent functionality making it super easy to use. @+A = Music Mode, @+B = Game Mode, C has 3 modes 1.@+C= VR Mode 2.@+C self timer Mode 3.@+C Video Mode Landscape layout. @+D Mouse Mode if your phone supports it you'll see actual mouse pointer buttons to select apps you want . The only thing that i have not been able to figure out is scrolling with in youtube or other sources but over all i have enjoying my VR Box ebay $11.20 cant beat that....
so listen. the controller has a bug. if you hold the @ and D button at the same time and will bring up a cursor then the bumpers will be things to click with. Hope this helps.
the ZTE ZMAX PRO fits perfectly to the frame of the VR BOX. good experience with the vr.. obviously not the best.. but worth the money just to show off... and see what hype of VR is about without breaking the bank..
+Everyday TechLife Do you know how good the field of view is in this headset? The regular Cardboard is 90 degrees. Looking for something better than just 90.
Quote: Important Notice: For iOS, which is a closed system, only limited functions are supported by this remote controller as listed below: Selfie-Stick Photo Taking & Volume Adjustment.
I was considering the same thing but I have two questions. First, since quadcopters generally have a single camera you can't get any binocular parallax, so what's the point of using a VR system? Second, more seriously, does the quadcopter's FPV software actually generate the spherically distorted left/right image pair that the goggles require? I wasn't aware that the phone control software for most drones and such would generate such images. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks.
One thing that would make ur videos more alive and interactive is to just too keep your eyes on the camera just like u would if u talked to someone, i get you are reading ur script. Great video overall! :)
yeah it works great with my dji mavic! i got it at thriftygadget.com/collections/free-shipping/products/virtual-reality-box his link in the description doesn't seem to work anymore
I have the same headset and controller. the controller has 4 modes which you can change by pressing @ then a, d or other buttons @+d is mouse mode. I use on android so it's might be a little different but you can try
I just picked up a five dollar headset from Five Below that's very similar to this minus the remote, which I can get for ten bucks anywhere, sadly my phone lacks a gyroscope so I can't get full use out of the thing, though I'm already doing some research into a phone that will be better for it, but hopefully still at a low price. That said with what I've been able to d with it I'm loving it, and this is after trying out a PSVR the same day.
What I would do to see stuff from the world from VR, drones only cost like 15 - 100 dollars, I would just buy a drone, then I would buy a VR headset for 5 bux and then put my Iphone into the VR headset and watch the distance.
I just got one in Rymans as it was half price at £14.99 The field of view is atrocious. No where near the Google Cardboard. The unit feels heavy on the head and the strap doesn't do much to stop it from weighing forward/down. The one good feature on it is that the lenses can be moved forward and backwards so when I move them closer to my eyes I don't need reading classes.
Honestly, there are folks that can’t afford a big name VR headsets out there, and most everyone has a smartphone, so I think they need to Improve these before VR goes mainstream. What do like is that it has holes for charging and headphone cables. I wonder if there are better iOS controllers that let you operate the phone.
Hah. Ive got that same one. After getting the more expensive Samsung GearVR i decided to also get this one but with a few remotes so that my nephew or niece or anyone else could have double the fun too and without worrying about breaking it when running into a wall when using the Augmented reality function with the VR while using the game controller to fight one dinosaur against the other in the living room or chasing a xombie through the kitchen to hack it up with a machette, or my Favorite, sitting passenger in a car while wearing it in a VR jet fighter while streaming your screen to another screen like the laptop or another phone so the driver can see what youre seeing and set their phone to HUD mode and reflect it off the windshield to make it easier for them to know when to whip the car to the left or right at the same time as the VR or accellerate or slow down (if therrs not really much other traffic around) or get lucky and make full turns at the same times. I got the $20 version also that came with the white remote that is exactly like the Wii remote. A PS4 remote and my iPazz mini keyboard remote work fine too. But i like using the Wii remote better since im used to using a Wii remote all the time anyway and it makes it easier to have all the control in one hand. Especially when you switch from regular 3D VR over to Augmented reality VR and youre walking around with one arm out trying not to run into anything. I think the cheap bootleg versions especially the VR Box are totallly worth it even though they/it doesnt have access to all the same oficial movie library selections that my samsung gear vr does and its not realy as totally emersive but it is actually just fine and even perfect because its lighter and dont have to worry about breaking it and if someone has never wore the SamsungGear VR or other high end VR headsets i bet they wouldn't even know the difference with it.
Sophia Williams I don't see why not. Its the type of headset where you don't have to hook anything up so as long as your phone is the right size it shouldn't be a problem at all.
every one thinks that the retina display is actually a special kind of display it's just a normal display with more ppi but now a days all phones have high density display it's not actually high res
These are not nice because they have a small viewing angle, which makes things look small and has a lot of black space. Cheap, but 120 degrees are another thing. The feeling is amazing. The only good thing about these is that you can change the focus of each eye individually.
They are cheaper on wish.com.. I picked up a clone for $2 plus $1 shipping just to dip my toe into the VR experience. It hasn't arrived but I'd imagine it's the same model just with different branding.
Ironically I ended up receiving some clip on thing that attaches to the phone.. I got a refund approved by the site the same day.. so while disappointed I was shipped the wrong item, I got to keep my money and the item I received.. Been happy so far with everything else I've ordered, but I've kept my buys to the $1 - $3 range. so far happy with my little usb humidifier, my phone case, and the hat I ordered. Waiting on a stainless steel ring, and rechargeable AAA batteries. But you're right I'm being very careful with what I order, staying away from digital media (USB memory sticks and memory cards, hard drives, etc.)
Check out the most recent link in the description. That one seems to have great reviews. DM me your info, and if you're in the US I'll send you a free one!
Is a Cheap VR Headset Any Good? Simple answer - No At the moment VR choices can be tiered as: Tier 1 (High End) - HTC Vive - Oculus Rift with Touch Tier 2 - Oculus Rift without Touch Tier 3 (Mid Range) - Google Daydream - Gear VR Utter Rubbish - Pretty much everything else And the difference in experience between each tier is huge. If you want to experience VR aim for Tiers 1 and 2. Once you've experienced them you wont want to try anything else.
a note on the root, you get a cursor on screen with an android device so very easy to launch an app sadly app has crap 3rd party support. you know if apple made a remote it would cost more than the Samsung headset
Guys i'm kinda new to this kind of stuff, so can i watch only doubled VR videos or as well the interactive non doubled ones that when you move your phone, they move.
thanx but I still can't get my remote to pair up I have the cynoculars are they jus cheap n no good or am I doin it wrong.oh well jus asking but thanx for review
hey awesome video. I do however want to get a cheap VR for watching plain 2d movies. how would you rate the experience in a VR to that say of a regular cinema (non IMAX or superiorly large screens) in terms of resolution and cinematic experience of a split 1080p 2d movie and also does it have to be split for viewing a standard HD 2d video.
Screens look good because its the result of high quality glass its why cheap pc montiors & IPS panels look good its a great thing in camera lenses but its more a selling techique in phones and pc monitors its also the reason high quality no reflective matt panel screens are really expensive.
Too bad im using an iphone, im fine with andriod, but every andriod phone i use always end up lagging even when ive alr deleted very possible thing from the app
Can I just say a great big whopping enormous gigantic large thank you for not doing a silly unboxing. A good perfect review but I will look at a few more now to see if it is really any good for the Android. Thanks again for not doing the silly unboxing video.
I have never experienced going into the vr world, and i hate wasting a lot of money buying the more expensive ones, is this suitable for me or would you recommend it? I heard that people who are experienced were disappointed with this.
@+A= video mode
@+b=game mode
@+c=vr mode
@+d=mouse
This is the controller guide

Thanks you said controls thanjs
That was one of the best reviews for any product I have seen. Short, understandable and a great voice / tone. Very well done Sir. Thank you for the info.
Craig Hellberg agree completely. Only thing I was hoping for was to see the actual video of what it looks like during be experience.
I have the same remote and it works fine. You are supposed to choose the mouse option and then with the headset on you can switch. I recommend installing the VR BOX launcher app Full dive because you don't need the remote or anything and you can switch through apps with its built in switcher. +Davoricus yeah, I've noticed. I've been using it with an S7 and the experience is much better. I'll do an update video.
well said
will its work on a iphone 4?
+Princess Vysoky Idk but you should probably save up your money for a new phone instead
Could you use it as a pointer in the home screen for Android?
It's $10 for me though

you might want to check trinus vr its a software to connect your android to pc

What? Avotch did not make it. The real headset just says VR BOX and nothing else and its way better!
+Lego Films 2.0 you're the second person to mention that. I'm going to try and find the "real" one.
Here you go, on offer too. www.gearbest.com/virtual-reality/pp_264721.html also try Trinus VR to play PC games through your phone.
Don't worry, It's not fake. Its just had some brand name slapped on it.
The real one is made by Karl Zeiss I think...
Yeah, this is obviously from China and if you buy it bulk, you can ask them to add your branding to it. Multiple "brands" would have the same exact product.
how is peripheral vision? does it feel like you're there? or does it feel like you put a tablet at the bottom of a box or tunnel?

Going to get that same phone soon. How does it work with VR?
Oh. And you gotta try using it with a really good comfortable pair of over ear bluetooth headphones like the Sony XB950BT
Excellent review. You're good at what you do. Thanks

Thanks, I appreciate it!

well done man, very professional and to the point review. You're a very natural presenter
Hey man, i use glasses like you, does it fit on well on the vr box?
BTW nice video man!
It does but in 3 years you probably already found an awnser...
One thing that would make ur videos more alive and interactive is to just too keep your eyes on the camera just like u would if u talked to someone, i get you are reading ur script. Great video overall! :)
get a drone, then you'll have some good use of the VR Box
What?
I'm guessing you can view the drone camera through the vr headset, that would be surreal af
FPV alot of people who fly drones use it to get a better view they also use them on rc heli, planes and even cars. Pretty cool stuff.
Thats the main reason I'm getting this.
yeah it works great with my dji mavic! i got it at thriftygadget.com/collections/free-shipping/products/virtual-reality-box his link in the description doesn't seem to work anymore
I have the same headset and controller. the controller has 4 modes which you can change by pressing @ then a, d or other buttons @+d is mouse mode. I use on android so it's might be a little different but you can try
The remote helps you control stuff in but apps that are compatible with it
Try it with Trinus and you can use it as a cheap alternative to an oculus rift with your PC
excellent review. I just bought the one you were reviewing. it's not bad on my Galaxy 7 Edge
you could just buy a different controller such as the Moga gaming pad and that might work better for selecting options.
Nice review. Answered every question I had
I believe you'd be able to open apps if they weren't in those folders but on the main screen instead.
Press the buttons "@" and "D" to switch to mouse mode. It works in android, try it in IOS.
What I would do to see stuff from the world from VR, drones only cost like 15 - 100 dollars, I would just buy a drone, then I would buy a VR headset for 5 bux and then put my Iphone into the VR headset and watch the distance.
I just got this and I also found the remote was useless. I also found the headset really heavy on my face and gave me headaches.
Great review. Thanks for taking the time. Sounds like a third party remote would make this headset useful.
I just got one in Rymans as it was half price at £14.99
The field of view is atrocious. No where near the Google Cardboard.
The unit feels heavy on the head and the strap doesn't do much to stop it from weighing forward/down.
The one good feature on it is that the lenses can be moved forward and backwards so when I move them closer to my eyes I don't need reading classes.
NewsRedial well you always have to option to hold it up, like you HAVE to with the cardboard
In store public displays and VR Cafe's. Keep on spreading the pink eye folks!
I use a dynamic virtual viewer but it actually feels good for only 20 bucks
Honestly, there are folks that can’t afford a big name VR headsets out there, and most everyone has a smartphone, so I think they need to
Improve these before VR goes mainstream. What do like is that it has holes for charging and headphone cables. I wonder if there are better iOS controllers that let you operate the phone.
you can use fulldive to switch games.
thanks man! solid review :)

I have a cheap VR and it has 360 3D and it works very good and it is the fritesla Virtual Reality Glassses
I got a headset at 5 below and they work great! Same set that you paid 35$ for just doesn't have the name of brand on front lol.
is there any difference between quality of the picture inside it anb inside gear vr .. ?
Bro you deserve way more subs! great video!!
The same vr is sold for just £3 and £5 with the remote in a local shop in mt city
Great video man!keep it on man!
what if you use this headset for pc gaming, or loptop gaming? guess there they will become perfect and so cheap
Btw retina is apples version of IPS it's nothing to brag about.
Got mine for 10$ on eBay and it was beyond worth the money I spent.
6.90 usd in malaysia
D0PAMiiNE does it work with the s7 edge ?

I got mine for $5
shitty ios, bluetooth remote works perfect on android
great video none the less, also 30$ is somewhat steep i'm planning on picking one up with a bluetooth remote for 19 cad from gearbest.
ebay... $12 from china

just bought one with the remote.. and yes it's in usd

Has it arrived yet?
XD
BenAddict19 In philippines lazada its in sale for $2 and $2 for shipping got it yesterday and its good!!
Shitty Gamer lol youll never get that stay clear them pmsl

I can't find the AvoTech VR Box on amazon. Whats another really really good Smartphone Headset($15-$35) for VR??

And the difference in experience between each tier is huge. If you want to experience VR aim for Tiers 1 and 2. Once you've experienced them you wont want to try anything else.
a note on the root, you get a cursor on screen with an android device so very easy to launch an app sadly app has crap 3rd party support. you know if apple made a remote it would cost more than the Samsung headset
and my phones auto correct stikes again!

I have the VR Box 2.0 (same as you) and I felt like there was just a screen in front of me like every other mobile VR headset :/
hey awesome video. I do however want to get a cheap VR for watching plain 2d movies. how would you rate the experience in a VR to that say of a regular cinema (non IMAX or superiorly large screens) in terms of resolution and cinematic experience of a split 1080p 2d movie and also does it have to be split for viewing a standard HD 2d video.
you need a teleprompter my friend. If i'm right, there are a lot of tutorials on youtube about how to diy one with very cheap materials
The games on the gear are better because theres teck in the hed set help with apps
1 minute of silence of anybody who thinks iPhone display is high res
GoldFate I agree apple is bad and this guy is dumb.
Screens look good because its the result of high quality glass its why cheap pc montiors & IPS panels look good its a great thing in camera lenses but its more a selling techique in phones and pc monitors its also the reason high quality no reflective matt panel screens are really expensive.
You have spectacles, does it have any effect on eyes of people with spectacles, please reply

I have never experienced going into the vr world, and i hate wasting a lot of money buying the more expensive ones, is this suitable for me or would you recommend it? I heard that people who are experienced were disappointed with this.
