  • Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Rail Journeys
In this program we chase Jeremy Hosking's rebuilt West Country Bulleid Pacific 34046 Braunton as he hauled Saphos Trains's 1st public charter train of 2021 The Fellsman from Crewe to Carlisle & back via The Settle & Carlisle.
By the time this film was made 9 days after indoor hospitality was allowed to start again under the UK Government's road map out of lockdown for England.
During the making of this film 34046 Braunton was making history as not only was his 1st encounter on The Settle & Carlisle but also was the 1st rebuilt West Country pacific to go down the S&C since Phil Swallow's 34027 Taw Valley back in the early 1990's.
We start the chase at Warrington BQ as Braunton arrives to pick up his 1st lot passengers before departure.
We join the Avanti West Coast class 390 to follow the train & we overtake Braunton at Bamfurlong Junction just outside Wigan North Western.
Which is were we get Braunton arriving & departing next as we made our way to Carlisle we review the engines history before arriving into Lazonby & Kirkoswolds which is were we get Braunton on the northbound run heading to Carlisle.
We end this Rail Journey Vlog at Kirkby Stephen for the southbound run as Braunton heads back to Crewe.
We see Braunton working but as Braunton came alongside the signal box 34046 lost his grip before regaining it before we include this program.
Thanks very much for watching Harnetty Rail Journeys see ya all again soon.
    So till next time goodbye.

Many thanks for another first class presentation. Really enjoyed the history insert. Braunton looked absolutely magnificent and was captured beautifully by some excellent videography. Does anyone know is she was fitted with FB wheels and if so does she retain them?

Cracking video Richard, fair play to you for getting so many shots in all by using the trains 👍Lazonby & Kirkoswald is pronounced Oswald if that makes sense 🤔

Cheers Steve I do find it difficult to pronounce words that are hard. Speaking of trains I've settle back down in using trains since this vlog was made now that my dad has come out of retirement.

Your videos are great - especially the lineside locations. Thankfully the sun didn't shine! Excellent summary of 24046's history. Very informative.
How was patronage on the two main line trains you took and the Pacer on the S & C? Is patronage slowly recovering on trains in rural UK or is it still terrible because people are scared of using mass transit? (I have no compunction in my nation of Oz, but we are locked down in Melbourne with a five km travel restriction as you are about to celebrate 'Freedom Day').

During the making of this film the social distancing rules was still in place. But now after today (July 19th) here in the UK step 4 of the road map out of lockdown has been eased with the social distancing rule being scrapped. Cheers for the comment.

Nice, very nice. At least is wasn't coming down in buckets on the S&C like it usually is.
