As a 50yo still suffering f4rom 'suicidal hate' and teen-age rage I sometimes think I should listen to Blue October but when I first heard their music - The Answers album - it really felt like someone had written an album for/about me. it still feels like that. Thank You Justin. it is because of your song Black Orchid I never succumbed to my suicidal hatred

Hate me is about his Mother. I thought otherwise myself until I started to look into the band later on. If you like his music now, I truly recommend listening to it forever. Justin writes his own stuff. Most artists don't now. Everything he does is from the heart. He's had a pretty messed up life. Google it if you don't know. I didn't know at first. He's battled so much. You write this kind of shit for someone, then you dump them and marry someone else. I can relate. I did the same shit. I was in tears when I told my ex to listen to Hate me. To be honest, I never realized the voicemail at the beginning was his ex singing "Calling You" on his voicemail. That's kind of fucked up to put on a record.
