      When my daughter was 5 we went to park with bread to feed the ducks and vicious ass geese. They follow us back and forth. Now let me tell you... my daughter is the animal lover.. me the animal feared! They were following us and we got surrounded! I told my daughter to " RUN" as I left her and jump on the nearest bench.. true story no lie. That was 32 years ago. Today I LOVE ANIMALS!!

      Delph Zouzou Because the documentary was specifically about the scientist's studies and interactions with the animals, not about filmography. In most documentaries you don't see all the people filming. I'm sure they're listed in the credits.

      @@kimnotloona Except that's not what happened. If the other person filming had also been a scientist doing research, and they _wanted_ to be on camera, I'm sure they would have been given camera time. That wasn't the case, so they were given recognition in the credits like every other documentary. No one is discounting their work just because their face wasn't shown.
      Documentaries are different than movies, TV shows, UA-cam videos, etc. People who film documentaries want their work to be recognized, not for themselves to be recognizable on the street. They may want both, but that's not why documentaries are made, and many photographers and cinematographers _don't_ like appearing on camera, that's why they work behind the scenes.

      It's not a "cute squeaky sound" its a highly sophisticated language that we can not under stand. We have researched the shit out of their language and have gotten nowhere. That "cute squeaky sound" is different from all other orca pods. Every orca pod has their own language and not one pod has the same language as another. Also the males never leave their mothers. Their whole lives they are no more than 10 ft from their mothers. If they get bullied by other male orcas. They'll stay on the outside of the pod. In which they'll eventually come back into it but pods never break or never fully kick out another orca. This is also why releasing them from captivity could have horrible results. They don't speak the same language as other pods so they wont be accepted in, only to their pod, which may be impossible to find

      Agreed. They really suffer. I read a book that a SeaWorld trainer wrote. He said the Orcas get sunburn, the pool water is to warm and they get rashes, they are given anti acids for stomach ulcers. They bang their head's against the cement in the pool. They chew on the cement out of boredom. They break their teeth. A few whales have killed themselves from banging their heads against the cement really hard. They with hold food so they perform. They breed the female Orcas to early. Babies are still born. Or they take their baby away. The mom cries for day's. It's so heartbreaking.

      Why do we attribute "human" to kindness? The other animal world is full of accounts of 'kindness". And why do we think everything is out to get us and when it shows that it isn't...wow!...what a human-like behaviour? Humanity has shown such incredible deliberate cruelty towards every other species - and including its own- that we should be also then surprised when we are kind. Humans are like all other critters....some good and some bad and it is us that makes that distinction based on our own perception of the world - which I am sure is very different from a snail or an orca.

Seems any normal person's first thought playing with the seal under water is "this is NOT safe for you buddy" and wouldn't have encouraged play time in a death trap area, knowing full well the young seal was a rookie to the dangers of the sea and the killers in that immediate area waiting for a meal. I would have been nervous for the seal and wouldn't have distracted the seal by playing in a dangerous area, but likely this 'super nice guy' was thinking if it gets eaten it'll make epic up close footage.

      I met a commercial fisherman in Alaska and he really respected the orca's, even though they would steal his catch, etc. In his view nothing else in the sea measured up for size, power and intelligence. It was nice to meet a guy, who despite the economic challenges the orca's presented, still thought they were of such great value and should be looked after. When he talked about them, you could see the smile on his face and how he treasured the occasional interaction.

      William Thomas Ramey isn’t it amazing how our intuition tells us they are super intelligent? they are actually the second most intelligent being besides humans which is amazing and it is quite clear why they have been dubbed the second most intelligent being, they are so human like, yet so alien which is pretty beautiful and call me crazy but there is such a connection to them and it makes me wonder if we have a deep past with them perhaps or something even more complex and I suppose that might play into the aquatic ape theory (it’s a really intriguing theory that is about as credible as the standard theory of human evolution, Look it up)but setting that aside even still, it’s astonishing this connection that we have to them and even your run of the mill dolphin, they even help us fish for Christ sakes! Also, sorry for such an essay but I have been very interested in this subject recently. Cheers man.

    • @orcawithdrip827
      @orcawithdrip827 4 роки тому +183

      Eustace King With how much bullshit you're talking, you would make an excellent farm.
      There have been only 2 recorded orca attacks on humans in the wild and none were fatal. The ones that resulted in human deaths occurred in captivity.
      Are orcas physically capable of devouring a human? Yes
      Do they do it? No
      And here’s why: They know exactly what they are looking for, to eat; just as you may look at an apple tree, and choose to eat the apples and not the leaves of the tree. Around the world, there are Orcas that like to eat sharks. Others like to eat sting rays but not fish. Others like seals and fish, but not sharks. There are Orcas that eat almost exclusively whales; Gray Whales, Bowhead, Beluga, even the unicorn-horned Narwhal.
      None of them like humans, because they have not been taught that humans are food. Unlike other apex predators like lions and others, they do not go after anything and everything that moves. They have been taught what to eat, by others in the pod, by their parents, by their grandparents. Why did the word get around that humans are not food? It’s very possible that they would have trouble with our bones. Our long bones are longer and thicker than any other animal that they do entirely consume. They don’t have to get a bone stuck in their throat to understand that something with these long thin appendages might not go down easily. They can see we are alien looking, and things that aren’t fat and compact are not attractive… don’t look scrumptious. Obviously, they can’t swallow us whole. That would leave two options; crunching us up, which would create sharp bone splinters that would be dangerous in their throat… or, they could bite the meat from around our bones, as they do with prey such as walruses, or large whales. Clearly, we aren’t big enough, muscular enough, or blubbery enough to allow them to do that. So… the bottom line is… we are not on their menu. We don’t make a good meal, and in fact, trying to eat us may be dangerous if they try to chew us up. At Thanksgiving Dinner, we don’t just eat an entire turkey… it has bones that would harm us if we did that. We cut the meat off. Orcas don’t chew us up, for the same reason. And they can’t cut (bite) the meat off. So, once again… we are not on their menu.

    This is by far the best the best documentary I have seen. Of all the animals This Man filmed he had physical contact with them all. Very calm and very loving towards nature. Even the big boys became quite calm around him as well. I so love this. Even at the end the small birds of the year flocked around him and had contact. Loved it loved it loved it. This is when I can watch over and over again. And certainly can pass it on to others. Great job

So for this yes humans who capture the wonders of wild animals to this extreme, realise it is life or death daily. This is the way of life too, for many people around the world! Fantastic filming and absolute kudos for allowing those of us not without struggles... although can comfortably enjoy the amazing learning experience of such documenting, such majestic sea creatures both mammals and birds.
