DISCLAIMER: Anyone who is just starting to try this with brand new cards, don't try for a very long time. My fingers are killing me, and I only tried for about 15 minutes. I recommend you do 5 minute attempts, then take a 10 minute break, and then try again.
For anyone who's having trouble with this: I can do a bunch of card cleverness but I've always struggled with this. But yesterday I discovered the secret. I realised my hands were too dry (specifically my thumbs). The cards would always clump. After putting a tiny bit of moisturiser on my hands this is suddenly a million times easier.

Safiya Burgess exactly, I love magic and even though I’m only 11 years old, I’m quite good, but that’s only because I read all of the books trying to find out as much as I can, then practice for 8 hours a day.
Aye y'all, if your wondering how long this would take too learn I might have a variable you could go by. I was being extremely lazy today and I practiced this for about 7-9 hours and I finally got it. I really did accomplish this shuffle and I'm a complete beginner when it comes to card skills. I used a very cheap deck of cards that were a little difficult in the process, but eventually I came through in the riffle shuffle. But just if you were wondering how long it would take to learn this, I would say about half a day. Good day and God bless.
Good. I think your cards may have made the difference though. I did this with some old bicycles and managed to get an even and quick shuffle within an hour of practice.
I DID IT... I have a few blisters on my hands for trying it for 20 minutes, but I did it! I got a little too excited and dropped all my cards so that'll be fun to clean up.
Somehow I made it 45 years without ever successfully doing a bridge after a riffle - UNTIL video tutorials like yours and Ramsay's. I got my first brick day before yesterday and literally just a few minutes ago I finally started to get semi reliable bridges after riffling!!! Initially I had low hopes because I thought my failure was too ingrained....lol I was actually shocked when I did it for the first time twice in a row. I don't know if its the dopamine or norepinephrine or serotonin but MAN does it feel awesome when something you've been attempting over and over finally clicks. Awesome. Just awesome!
I was just watching this, wanting to practise it tomorrow and I was wondering the same thing. I got quite small hands so I hope I'll still be able to master this eventually xD
This is really simple to learn guys. It took me about an hour to learn this (maybe less). Just keep your thumbs curved, and don't actually bend the cards upward a lot, or they will fly everywhere. Slightly bend them, and don't do it too much or you will bend your cards, and the cards should slide down easily with this trick. Start with a small deck of cards, and once you master with that, add more. I did this and now I can do this perfectly
It may be that it's a common shuffle, but it still amazes me every time I see it :p will definitely start practicing so I can amuse myself with it.. pretty fancy art on the back of those cards too.
hector tello lol thanks for asking, actually I can do it pretty decently by now I think.. Still getting it a bit chunky at times, but the chunks are rarely more than like two cards together, so the bridge ending is starting to sound like it's supposed to.. which is pretty cool I think ^^ I'll of course keep practicing though!
Mia Gadegaard Word, give it about another week or soo of practice and you'll be shuffling like 52kards =D well check back in when you got it down! Good Luck ^_^
hector tello Many thanks, I shall make you proud :p I'll just add for any eventual newcomers that my biggest problem was probably finger strength, as my pesky girl fingers just couldn't bend those cards enough without being in immense pain.. but after doing a week or two of other slightly easier "tricks", I found that I was suddenly able to pull this off fairly easily albeit in a flawed way, but good enough to start practicing repeatedly without my fingers dying at the first try.
Thank you for the excellent tutorial, I had been trying to riffle shuffle without a table but I wasn't having any luck. I got this straight away and it is just so much better than riffle shuffling on a table. Getting the thumb positioned correctly over the packets helps fire them off one by one. It's really satisfying when you finally get it done right.
There is a crucial missing part to this tutorial that I think will help most of you below in the comments. I've been trying for the last 24hrs to get the hang of this but running into the same issues. I then re-watched the tutorial and found the solution; you really have to wedge the bottom corner of the cards (the corner furthest away from you) into the web between your pinky and ring finger. LOCK it in there on both sides. Then you can really bend your cards without them flying everywhere, and it also help spread the cards evenly between each other when you get to that stage. Practice still makes perfect though.
Well you can also use the ring and middle finger, without the pinky. But yes, this is very essential. People think they have small hands when they do this but you gotta pinch the bottom of the cards to give them a sturdy base to fall on.
Hey man, i love your channel and your tutorials are very comprehensive and easy to understand. After like 2 days of practice i finally managed to do the "In The Hands Riffle Card Shuffle". For all the people out there who struggle with the part where you open the bride so it makes that nice sound, here is a small tip. After riffling both packs together go into the bridge position until the tip of your fingers from both hands touch each other. Now slowly open your hands until the point where you feel the cards start dropping. Now instead of further opening your hands (this always caused my cards to ether fall all together or very clumpy) just slowly release pressure from your thumbs and keep the position of your hands. This helped me a lot to get a clean and nice looking/sounding finish.
This was amazing. I have been trying to learn the riffle shuffle off people for years. The way they explained it I never really looked in to it that much. I'm trying to learn slight of hand, and get in to illusions. The first thing you see any illusionist do is riffle shuffle, usually. I'm no good at this, but I've finally done a riffle shuffle, in my hands, at that! It's slow,a bit clunky, but I can now atleast practice. Thanks!
Great tutorial. Well explained. I was a complete noob at this and in the beginning, I struggled a lot. After practising 1h every day for a week I managed to perfect it. Not as good as you, but to a quite satisfying level. I just need to make it more consistently good, especially concerning the distribution of cards. I also learned through pausing and rewinding your table riffle shuffle. I also didn't watch the whole video until I was sure that I was confident with each step first. This kept me wondering what were the next steps and kept me motivated to improve. The last bridge part was the easiest to learn. So yeah, in conclusion, new skill added to the toolbox. Thanks.
When you do the first part of the shuffle you probably are doing the overlap between the cards too big, or you haven't used them enough, new cards are very hard to "break in"

It took me years to learn how to do this as a kid teaching myself. One day I decided to learn how to do it and it took me hours to nail down the bridge. Wish we had youtube back in the 80s.
I've had some trouble with this and you and some people in the comments really helped me. Seriously, keep your thumbs more horizontal on the cards helped me so much. pushing the index finger into the cards as well. But the biggest problem for me was the bridge. I bent them and would not get a nice ripple, but more of a CHUNK and everything is close to what it should be. Then I remembered someone in a video saying "just release the fingers below the cards. Somehow I thought I was doing that, but I was just shoving them together. I just did my first almost perfect bridge and oh man, it gave me goosebumps. Indeed, just release the tension haha. Also picking up my cards now
Devoted Defender when i was into card games like yu-gi-oh as a kid, like 10 years ago, i couldnt ever shuffle them sleeved or without, i had to find a different way of mixing them up, like the shitty shuffle of throwing them into my other hand sideways til they mixed up lol

I was in Cuba for a month and I knew how to rifle shuffle very well but the bridge I didn't know. I played so much cards over there and pushing the cards together was so much effort that I started to bend them and push them together. Two weeks later and I was doing rifle and bridge shuffle.
TakeSomeAdvice No,it really is practice, and there's really only one main card brand:Bicycle, and even then, the other brands are mostly made by the same company.I'm practicing with cards I got in a tourist shop in Tenerife,102% Plastic.
Mate! Thanks to u i learnt that move within 5 minutes! Awesome! I bought my first deck today to learn some magic tricks and thanks to u im now able to do that cool shuffle! Awesome!
"because of the way that im gripping the deck these cards it won't fly out they'll just stay right there..." *Me and my cards flying all over the place* :|
Are you using plastic coated paper cards? The guy in the video is definitely using cards that are made of 100% plastic/cellulose acetate/whatever - those are a whole lot easier to shuffle (and a bit more expensive)
ChaosHunter They bend a lot more and don't straighten themselves back out to the same extent as plastic cards. This makes the riffle part a bit difficult because they don't fall on top of each other with the same willingness as plastic cards.
it takes time to get it is all. I think you can do it with most healthy cards. People use this with pokemon cards and mtg cards and so on, which are very thick and made of strong, inflexible material.
BenasTenas LTU main tip, bending the cards to much makes it harder to control how many are released. bend them the tiniest bit. (so if your thumb hurts or your cards warp then you're bending them too much.)
Dude your channel is sweet dude, nice playlists, good tutorials. I used to be really amazed by card tricks and being able to do them myself because of you, cool thanks man

Sounds like your cards are worn out. Try with a new deck. Cards get clumpy after a while.
spent 2 hours doing this over and over and i finally got it my bridge need more improvement but sometimes i manage to do it well. thanks subbed
Who's playing cards without a fucking table
LMAO
This is a magic channel, sometimes you do magic standing up
You gain a lot of style points by doing it
Cards isnt just for playing games
Thanks! Took me a couple hundred of times to watch and learn, but from zero knowledge to mastering it, I can finally shuffle! Great stuff.
if it hurts my hands am i a pussy?
yeah thats actually what happened after 30 minutes.
pussy... pussy...
Nicki's extra channel nah i think i may have blisters.
Gaming Authority After seing that comment I felt my inner hand skin and compared it to my outer hand skin and realized the inside was thicker .-.
Gaming Authority Dam Right
I was in Cuba for a month and I knew how to rifle shuffle very well but the bridge I didn't know. I played so much cards over there and pushing the cards together was so much effort that I started to bend them and push them together. Two weeks later and I was doing rifle and bridge shuffle.
I'm now convinced. It's not practice, it really is 99% card brand.
TakeSomeAdvice No,it really is practice, and there's really only one main card brand:Bicycle, and even then, the other brands are mostly made by the same company.I'm practicing with cards I got in a tourist shop in Tenerife,102% Plastic.
TakeSomeAdvice it doesnt matter wat cards u use, the way u use or do it is wat matters
i can do the shuffle with any type of deck,....
wooooosh you all
I never thought learning to shuffle cards could be so satisfying! haha. Thanks for the tutorial.
do you use a lighter deck of cards? because your cards make a softer sound then my deck does and it looks like i get more resistance from them.
Mate! Thanks to u i learnt that move within 5 minutes! Awesome! I bought my first deck today to learn some magic tricks and thanks to u im now able to do that cool shuffle! Awesome!
fuck this shit I'm out
+Devin Ramos lol
soooo aggravating ikr haha i threw my deck in the air out of frustration
+polguaniak Same!
Lool
alright then...
Thank you man , I had never thought I'd be able to do that bridge ending !!!!!!!!!!! Thanks a lot!
"because of the way that im gripping the deck these cards it won't fly out they'll just stay right there..."
*Me and my cards flying all over the place* :|
Thanks 52kards this was the best tutorial I have seen and I can now finally ruffle shuffle
at first, my cards went flying. then I got better :)
Thanks for video. I've been practicing all evening, and it's beginning to come smooth. Thumbs up 👍
Is the problem here that my cards are too thick or am I just really bad?
Are you using plastic coated paper cards? The guy in the video is definitely using cards that are made of 100% plastic/cellulose acetate/whatever - those are a whole lot easier to shuffle (and a bit more expensive)
I guess its paper, air cushion finished deck (dragon backs) but its really high quality
Mine are plastic coated playing cards. Are those harder?
ChaosHunter They bend a lot more and don't straighten themselves back out to the same extent as plastic cards. This makes the riffle part a bit difficult because they don't fall on top of each other with the same willingness as plastic cards.
No the thickness of the cards doest matter, but do wana practice rifle shuffle with an older deck new deck r difficult to practice riffle shuffle..
this is by far the best tutorial on the bridge shuffle thank you
I did it for5 hours and I am still bad
You are awesome,52cards i learned this ,some fans, the Dynamo shuffle and many other rhings from you .The tutorials are great.Thank you!
My cards won't stop FLYING out of my hand, please help😢
if your cards is hard to bend, dont use it. Use playing cards.
Use Bee Decks. They are meant for riffle shuffling and are easy to handle. I use them to this day.
LolliLover 66 are they still flying or u mastered it?
This video is the perfect example of when UA-cam is at its best. Great tutorial!
thx but i just learned how to do bridge ending but i cant do the first one because my cards to thick or just im doing bad position :\
If it is too hard buy 100% plasic cards it's way easier
it takes time to get it is all.
CHICKEN PERMISSION Sorry I replied late...but I stumbled upon your comment, tried it, and it worked! Thank you! 😘
CHICKEN PERMISSION thanks!
I came here to learn because my friends make fun of my bad shuffling skills. My fingers are so long and skinny...I really suck at this
I have the opposite problem. My thumb so thick that it covers too much deck
+Neko-Tan yeah me too. I have tiny hands so this is extremely hard to do.
Thanks man, your video is awesome. After seeing this, it took me only about an hour to learn how to do it and I love it 10/10

Some cards are just not bending as good as your are :P Not even the last air bender can bend my card deck :/
Its the best riffle shuffle video tutorial i've ever seen(in 720 qualitty it could be better xD). You have said about very important details,i didnt see it in anothers tutorials. Thank you so much!

"Today, I'm going to do a really quick tutorial..." *video is 10 minutes long*
Some Random Fellow need that ad revenue
It’s that ad revenue
You are the best person I have ever seen! I kept on practicing and got all thanks to you!

I remember when i first started and me and my friend were trying to learn this! Cut to a year later still love magic and use this shuffle in all my tricks
I can't bend my cards...
Just keep trying XD
***** no my finger isn't strong enough, else the cards just can't bend enough, tried and tried and tried, but okay then i will keep trying XD
The shadow Lista aka Lucas well....sometimes things happen in life...but you just have to keep bending...and you will reach success LOL
***** lol
The shadow Lista aka Lucas HAHA me too! I don't know if it's because the deck is stiff or if my fingers are just not strong enough.
So excited I taught myself this! I do this for fun now since its so fun to watch the cards do the bridge ending :D
The video would be better if you could GET TO THE POINT FASTER!!!!!
this was really very good , i learned ruffle truffle in just 20 mins . thanks man !!!
Thank you so much :) I've been looking at a lot of videos on how to do it but no1 else can explain it as good as you :) you even show where to put fingers and how to hold thank you very much :) your a lot of help :)
