@@DavidUrsell Bought a 12m slingshot and flew it for the second time today. Had 8 to 10 mph wind to practice in. So much fun! Got it to lift me a few feet off the ground 😆 Can't wait for winter to be over now!!
@@lovetofly32 keep practising in super light winds only so you understand more and more about the kite, also learn all the relevant wind theory, wind shadows, gusts, clouds, OK directions to get into water, all safety procedures for water use etc 🤙
@@DavidUrsell I've been out belly dragging on my board but haven't got up on it yet. Can't figure out how to hold still long enough to get the board in front of me. It's different than behind a boat where the boat is completely stopped waiting for you to get ready.
What winds were you kiting in in this video in mph? And what size kite? I'm guessing a 9 right? We had 25mph winds yesterday and I just couldn't talk myself into un anchoring that thing and hooking it to myself with those winds. Figured I'd end up In the trees 🌳 😆 I'm kinda thinking I need about 18 mph winds to be perfect. I'm kinda leery of stronger winds. This 12 meter kite is so powerful it's nuts! Kinda scared of the dang thing when it's windy! Lol

Daniël Marcinek thanks Dan we were using a 5m rebel a 7m Evo and an 8m rebel and the wind speed was around about 40 to 45 mph I believe!

Awesome video! Sick spot! Question: I use a pov mount wih my hero 5 and can't seem to get as good far distance shots as you. What resolution settings was this filmed on?
Most of this was filmed on the 1080p 120 setting on hero 4. i also used the 2.7K 60fps as i can slow it down, and also add a slight crop if i need to, or stabilise without dropping below 1080p res as a baseline. also, keep then lens crystal clear!

DYLAN FELTON well so you know it is only this good on a spring high tide a couple of times a year but we do have other spots that can produce fairly flat water and are available more often and you can kite all year round just as the wind blows which is random in the UK that generally autumn brings lots of strong winds winter's cold

kiterJ we had Rebels and Evos through the day ranging through 5 7 8 9. The big second jump is an 8m Rebel 👊👍🤗🐳🦋.
Let me know which jump and I can let you know which kite we had :) it was all filmed in one day but over two locations as the tide changed
David Ursell thanks for the reply! Basically which do you think jumps higher kite for kite the rebel or the evo. I've had rebels before but not Evos and its new kite time haha
kiterJ the evos jump high and easily, it's a more sheet and go performance which takes less skill.
In experienced hands the Rebel will get higher and hold you there longer too!

Show how a landing loop works at the end of a big jump. Instasub btw.
You want a tutorial how to land big jumps well?
I can land big jumps without the loop. But I m glad about advice for the landing loop.
As I tried out my first unhooked kiteloops with a 14m² torch, im in kind of a shitpants situation every time I think about loops and make very slow progress in looping hooked and unhooked because of that.
In that particular torch session, I started out with winds on the low end side of the windrange of the kite. The first unhooked loops worked well, also I had a friend there to give me advice. Then the wind got stronger + my friend had to leave. I closed the adjuster and went on with unhooked loops. As the kiteloop radius got bigger, the loops destroyed me, dropping me from like 4-6m hard two or more times.
At least I learned what happens with loops, regarding wind strength and adjuster settings.
i can't summarise all the information i need to give you in a youtube reply, theres a huge range of kiteloops, I would start on a 8-10m in light wind with very late loops, and low jumps, and slowly build to more aggressive loops, or come for lessons with us. if i get time, I'll do a walk through of various kiteloops in a video too :)
but don't loop a 14m, if you get high, you will just crash. I have looped 19m kites but it's super dangerous if you do it wrong. start gentle and learn the loop on small kites for a long time first :)
