So I fell into a Bank monitoring role after graduation, whilst it is good in the aspect of learning the construction processes, required documents (i.e. insurances / warranties), attending site visits etc, you generally take a step back and don't get involved in the technical aspects i.e. producing a bill of quants. Its a great career if you've doing QS'ing for many years and want a less hands on/demanding role, but in your early years I wouldn't suggest it.
I really enjoyed this video, its crazy this video comes after I had interviewed for a Property Risk position at a well known High Networth Bank, I however set terms that the Bank weren't able to meet But in interviewing I learnt about the need for QS's in the banking appraisal process and throughout the investment. So I really enjoyed your video
As someone who has just started as a Graduate Quantity Surveyor working partly in Bank Monitoring, Ifind this video very informative thank you. I was wondering how did you apply this job to your chartership competencies. For example which ones? Thank you

Because I really want to go into banking so I don’t know if doing my honours in Real Estate , is that a wise idea would you say ? Would you say I should start as a traditional QS just so that I get more experience on site before going into the banking space ?
