Girl! Where have you been?!?! You are so informative and hit all of the key features and important pieces folks need to know. Loved this video. I look forward to watching and learning from you in the future and watching this channel grow!
LOL I am so not a social media person and was hesitant to start because I felt like I needed everything to be perfect then I was like F it I need to get this info out and that’s all that matters LOL thank you so much for watching I am very happy to hear that it is helpful and trust me this brain has so much more to share this is truly just the beginning thank you again!
This video was great I am a new nail tech in the nail world and my school did not go over this information. Thank you for explaining and breaking it down!
Have you tried luminary products? I believe it’s a soft gel but also a builder gel and it’s a soak off base color. You also don’t soak off each time, you would do infills on them. Also it’s so strong!
Great video!!👍🏻😀Does hard gel crack more easily than soft gel? Also does soft gel allow the nail to breathe more than the hard gel? I always use an electric file so the soak-off option doesn’t matter to me. I usually use 4 coats of gel polish + top coat to achieve the protective thickness I want. I’m looking into putting down a thick layer of hard or soft gel before doing my gel polish to cut down on time and use of my colors. What do you suggest?
Hi! When using hard gel colors you always want to make sure that you have a hard gel base on your nail. Whether it’s for an overlay or for extensions. You never just want to put hard gel colors directly on a base coat over your natural nail plate. So I would definitely for you at least have a hard gel overlay it’ll definitely help you with the strengthening so you don’t have to add too many layers of colors at least not more than what you need. And it’s also great since you use the electric file because when removing the color you have that hard gel surface that’s protecting your natural nails from the filing and then you just need to make sure that you fill it in as it grows out. I hope that helped!
And as far as the cracking goes it really just depends on how it’s applied it is harder to bend so it needs to get whacked pretty hard for the gel to actually crack and it will crack because it’s a hard surface it’s not very flexible but would definitely need to be significant trauma. Ouch..... unless it was done very thin or without the proper support it can definitely easily crack . But user error has a lot to do with it LOL
@@TheNaturalNailGuru excellent info! i did a hard gel overlay and lost 1 whole nail tip and cracked several. also had several nails polish just chipped off down to the builder layer and had to remove and redo. total of 7 nails had to be tended to over 2 weeks of this overlay. i think it was too thin, i skipped a base coat accidentally, and its just to hard for my nails because cracks happen with no trauma being caused to the nail.
This is why you were suggested to me, but I have a good ? I have invested in nothing but CND/ shellac. How could I make it last a bit longer, better adhesion? A different base? Chemistry wise? I thought of Luminary, give the system a go? Just worried I’m not quite understood.
Sandra Rodriguez There are many great products but I’ve learned that it’s rarely ever the product that’s the problem it’s usually the process. I get very long lasting manicures consistently regardless of the products that I use although some definitely are better than others and I am currently reviewing many brands so that you can see. But definitely watch some of the first videos I posted regarding the waterless manicure and the cuticle preparation I will be revisiting this soon with new videos ;)
Wow - great video with tons of details. Wish I had found you earlier. I just ordered Beetles soft gel kit. But need your help. I have done my own Acrylic for about 12 years. Love the ease of the Polygel dual forms to cut down on the shaping time. However, I have horses and work allot outside. I have shortened to only 1/4 inch past the tip of my fingers but have had a huge lifting problem with the Acrylics. After watching your video I am thinking I really need the hard gel type of product. I plan on using a dehydrator and primer with the soft gel kit, but now I am thinking they will be too soft. Please - what do you reccomend? Should I get some Builder or Sculpting gel then coat with a soft gel??? I really was looking forward to getting away from the Acrylics and all the time it takes me to shape etc.
Essentially yes you can definitely layer soft gel and hard gel there are some out there that do the simple gel manicure and use a hard gel topcoat for extra durability. The only thing that you need to be aware of is that softgel is very flexible so if you are doing extensions to make the nail longer with soft gel it will be flexible the hard gel will crack if it’s bent that could cause chipping or shattering of the polish because it is definitely not as flexible
very informative video. still a beginner here. could I use a hard gel color on top of a soft gel extension? I use the APRES system but I have a couple of light elegance glitters and colors but I don't know if I could use it on top of APRES tips.
I guess in this case there really is no problem because you would be filling in the extension and filing it down to do so so you’d be able to file off the color coat in the process. I don’t think there should be any issue with it adhering just use the normal basecoat that you would use with your hard gel color application
Hi, can you put one coat of hard gel over soft gel products. I use CND ONLY... I want to put gems on but they never stay on the soft gel products. I do everything right as far as nail prep. I stopped doing hard gel because I feel its dusty even with dust fan and underneathe and dont like using efile. I do natural nail only. What do you suggest to make the gems stay on the soft gel? One of your videos said you use “ugly duckling” but I cant buy that here in Edmonton Alberta canada, not even toronto. One of your videos you put that gel in and around the stones. Suggestion... can you even put soft gel over hard gel?
You can definitely put soft gel over hard gel but not the other way around. Putting stones on natural nails can be tricky because the nail plate is softer and more flexible couple things I would recommend are doing a double coat of the topcoat so you have a little thicker consistency on the nail or using a thicker soft gel like structure gel He gives you more stability on the nail. However I have done many bling nails without making the nail sticker or using a structure gel and have a good success so it is possible to do it without needing the extra coats. I am currently in the process of getting some consumer accessible bling gel stick on product so I can review them and let you know which ones can give you great professional quality well being accessible so stay tuned!
And definitely check out my bling video it’s probably one of the beginning videos might be able to help me a little bit more an application hopefully but more bling videos are coming soon
There are a lot of products out there and I stick to my Believe that if you are doing the process right almost any product will give you a great result. So my favorites are just based off of conveniences and consistency. I love gelish base and top coat. As well as structure gel. For colors I love dnd. Opi. Perfect match. And I will constantly try others especially for the channel right now I’m reviewing tons of products so I’ll get to a lot more brands. For art gel ( the thick gel in the pods) I use akzentz gel. But also so many brands out there that are really great. There tends to be small differences between them. It’s really all about the prep 😉 I hope that helped!
I didn't know that you shouldn't fill soft gel. I have been using Young nails Mani Q and just filling as it grows out, is this bad for my nails? Thanks!
With soak off gel products I do not recommend leaving and filling in. I checked out the ManiQ and it doesn’t say anything specifically but it is a soak off product you should start with fresh product every time. And I’ll definitely try this product out compared to what I use for overlays so thanks for bringing it up!
LALA I’ll soak off gel is the best for a minimal/no damage. The damage usually comes from the person removing the gel rather than the product unless you have allergies of course but those are far and few between
I love how informative and straight to the point this was👌🏾🙌🏾🥺❤️

is soft gel waterproof?
Great information....what is an example of hard gel? Is "builder gel" considered a hard or soft gel.
I'm new to this. Thank5
Yes usually a builder Gel will be hard Gel. And all Joel products that are soak off should say so on the packaging 😉

Thank you!
What’s your favorite brand for hard and soft gel?
amazing video ! thankyou , just wondering what are the ingredients in the hard gel . please help me with this! x
The ingredients will vary depending on the brand that you were getting and you can always find ingredient information on the brands website 😉
Are there any hard gels in a bottle? Or non soak off? I don’t like the pots.
I do not believe hard gel comes in a bottle only in pods but if I find anything different I’ll definitely update

Could you tell me which one is better hard gel for nails or soft gel?
Sana ilyas in my opinion.... Soft gel 😉
I didn't know that you shouldn't fill soft gel. I have been using Young nails Mani Q and just filling as it grows out, is this bad for my nails? Thanks!

Thanks so much! I love YN but have a hard time finding instructions for their products.
does the soft gel wear off more at the tip?
So sorry for such a late response! Not that it will always happen but between both it’s definitely the more likely one
Whats the best soak off soft gel, without nail damage?
LALA I’ll soak off gel is the best for a minimal/no damage. The damage usually comes from the person removing the gel rather than the product unless you have allergies of course but those are far and few between
