I don't know how I feel about this. I've been waiting for a package since before the strike happened (expected delivery was October 29th) and it went from Mississauga to fucking EDMONTON where it still sits as of today. I live in Toronto!! It cleared customs in Mississauga so it was scanned to be in Toronto. It makes no sense logistically to send it to another province even if they're overwhelmed. Do you know how much fuel is wasted for a package to go back and forth? I doubt I'm the only one this happens to, and it shows how much money they waste on being this incompetent. It just shows that Canada Post needs a reform entirely. Despite them fumbling for over a decade - they had years and years to change their mentality from mail-notes to package delivery, and they under preform. It's hard to sympathize with the workers when they're opportunistically taking advantage of the season AND they've historically been awful.
@shaunrobitaille3780 volume of packages has increased, but volume of actually letters (snail mail) has decreased due to electronic messaging. Their problem is that they have old school mentality. They put the focus on letter mail and not packages which is why they pale in comparison to other carriers. Other carriers deliver on the weekends, there are carriers who deliver up until 8:00pm or even 10:00 p.m. (rare cases). Canada Post has stuck by these rigid ideals, which is why they are losing money all the time.
I ordered something from Canada a few months ago, and Canada Post sent it to Chicago instead of New York. The USCBP had to hold my package and forward it to New York. Because the item's value was under $800, I didn't have to pay a dime for reimport.

Postal service is essential public infrastructure. Again, government is NOT a business; just like public transit; just like police, army, firefighters, and the list goes on. Workers MUST be compensated unless y'all want private companies monopolizing delivery and jacking up the price way higher than you think post deliveries cost these days. Would you privatize the Canadian army?
Then why do they keep losing money? Especially when private companies do it much better. If they cared about being a public service, they would of done it during the less busy season. Postal workers in the US arent allowed to strike because they recognize the importance. But you just want the glory when it benefits you right?

Unions got you your sick days and parental leave benefits, and other benefits before that like weekends. They do help. They are part of the solution for a healthy middle class economy. A strong middle class also supports small business and the national economy, and good productivity if it gets enough pay and time off to enjoy life. The French and Germans get it. Unions are generally seen as a critical component to keep the middle class customer base stable so small and local business can continue to survive. That means fair wages, decent family benefits, and enough time off to prevent chronic burnout as in 5 or 6 weeks so people can enjoy life. Their productivity often rivals American per hours productivity while they are healthier and more satisfied in general. They also have their own world class companies and technology. So perhaps we just need to copy them. Its does not seem hard to solve the productivity crisis. Let employees enjoy life, but be firm on the need for greater productivity at work. Lets get on with it. Why don't you stop your bitching a form a union then if your not happy with your current situation?
Just my opinion.
I sent cards by post but not anymore. I just signed up via the internet to send e-cards. Canada Post just lost what little business I was still giving them. For $40/yr I can send as many e-cards as I like. Saving myself about $500/yr!
I havent used Canada Post in years and I do not see this changing my mind. If anything I want the right to refuse service and restrict access. The only think that gets to mail box is junk mail I never read.
Why isn't the government using direct deposit , they should make it mandatory and save taxpayers money .
Both management and workers are demanding too much. Privatize this company. Tax payers cannot subsidize this failing company.
Those bastards are stealing bank cards, 4th one for me in the last 18 months. Why ? They can't use them until activated. Do they have a method ?
Fire these clowns & hire honest people.
Nobody needs canada post anymore
Wrong
Ever been to rural Canada, Sheila.
@sheila3606 people still rely on Canada Post for government checks and medications, maybe you should think before speaking and making a complete fool of yourself
Privatize! It is time!
$60K / year salary .... great benefits ..... nice superannuation plan .... lunch breaks paid .... 6 hours maximum actual work and paid for 8 .... high quality work clothing & accessories allocation each year ...... stress free environment
DEFINITELY THE WORST JOB IN THE WORLD 🤪
Those are Canadians?
Nope. That’s the problem.
They're a bunch of overpaid layabouts..I have the app and much of my mail listed never is delivered but they mark it delivered
People need to send more mail!
