Just to add, you cannot access a Desktop that does not exist, to access a desktop you will have to install it on your server. This is not recommended so, just use SSH which is more secure.
Try: Change your user password. Check if ssh server is running Check if the ssh port is allowed in your firewall Check sshd_config file if password auth is allowed / set up ssh key authentication. I have videos for ssh key set up. If you don't know how to go about the above, utilize chatgpt. Hope this helps.

Contabo provides a custom images feature that allows you to upload custom images. You'll in turn install your uploaded custom images via the reinstall option on the Contabo dashboard. It has a small cost attached to it. I don't have a tutorial for installing custom ISOs yet. However a quick Google search will reveal multiple relevant posts and UA-cam videos that'll assist you.

Esxi is a type 1 hypervisor, hence you can simply create it's ISO, upload it and try to install it. If they give you KVM access , you'll just need to mount the esxi iso. Here's a post to help you attach the iso www.servermania.com/kb/articles/how-to-mount-an-iso-on-a-dedicated-servers-using-kvm
Then, Interact with your server via the command line. If you need GUI desktop environment, you can add it. But that is an amateur move, learn Linux commands
