    Ok, I told you this was a HUGE haul! I think the green kaftan, or the fabric... are my favorites from this one! what are you most excited about in these finds?

    • @pamlatham5518
      @pamlatham5518 6 років тому +2

      You can find out if your fabric is cotton or synthetic by burning a small square. If it turns to ash it's cotton or melts it's synthetic.

    I learned to sew in the 60's 70's so your vintage sewing book would suit me.

    I'm so happy to have found you because you are a jewel to watch. You are most certainly an old soul and we share a common love for the 20's 30's and 40's fashion. I have 20,000 pairs of eyes to share you with and I think they will agree with me on your channel. I love all of the pieces but my favorite has to be the beaded scarf, such a great find.

    Could you do a video on tieing your head scarves? They look so pretty on you. I am 69 and my hair is thinning, especially on the top of my head . I think there are times when a pretty scarf would be really handy.

    I love that vintage sofa. I want one like it. Also that floral would look so good as a 1930's or 1940's look . I just gave me that vib of that timeline, but you know the era's styles better than I , even if I am older . I am not that old to know enough. Just the puc of my mom from days gone by. Awesome haul.

    You most likely got an answer to the question about your heavy metal find, but if not here is the answer. You were close with one of your guesses. The object is called a florist frog. You use it for fresh flower arrangements. It is placed in the bottom of the container and the spikes help hold the flower stems.

    I am wondering how you organize your scarf collection. I have a lot of scarves of all sizes and they are a hot mess when it comes to storing them. Please do a video on how you keep your collection where you can find things.

    • @Evelyn__Wood

      hahah I have mine hanging from one of those hanging things that have lots of 'circles' joined together, the scarves just slide in and hang on my wardrobe doors! perhaps this could make a great video! Thanks for the suggestion!

    What an amazing haul, Evelyn. Tell me, what do you do with all the clothes that you get and refashion? You'd need a small castle to keep them all in. Do you sell them? What? I'm really curious to know...if I don't seem too nosey! () : )
    Great video.

    Dear Evelyn Wood, love your uploades on UA-cam. I've truly been binge watching your videos. Ofcourse I "liked"👍🏻 them all & subscribed to your Channel & clicked on the 🔔icon for future notifications✌🏻.
    I have a 🤔Question: what do you use, when your put your secondhand trim & lace through a "soak", to remove old stains? Thank in advance ❤️. Greetings 👋🏻 from The Netherlands🇳🇱

    You are adorable! Love your channel and your style! I used to dress in vintage, but now that I'm older my style has changed~ More neutrals and classics I like. If I wore a vintage dress and head scarf, I'd feel ridiculous, but you looks brilliant~ I still do love vintage jewelry, furniture, scarves, shawls, glasswear and many other things however~ Really will enjoy your channel! Just subbed~nice to meet you~ xo from CA I;d like to know: what does a gal like you do in her real life? Do you have a job? Own an antique store? would love to hear~ It's hard to live in this modern life, as an artist, like you, been there, done that......Oh how I wish you were my neighbor! we'd be friends! Have you watched "miss fisher's murder mysteries?" on Netflix? Fabulous outfits~

    • @Evelyn__Wood
      @Evelyn__Wood  7 років тому +2

      Hi Ingrid! Yes I LOE Miss Fisher! I got to go to costume exhibit!! And... this is my real life! I am a dressmaker and sewing teacher and specialize in vintage design! And just working on building and expanding my business and meeting great other vintage people like you! My home is full of vintage things too! x

    what were the average off the rack dresses from the 20's, 30's, and 40's usually made of? Thanks

    • @Evelyn__Wood
      @Evelyn__Wood  7 років тому +3

      Hi Buff! Most dresses from this era were cotton silk wool or the new fibre of the moment, rayon!

  • @emilytchuu9876

    Why is polyester bad?

    • @Evelyn__Wood
      @Evelyn__Wood  7 років тому

      Where I live it is hot and humid, so polyester is extra hot and clammy and I don't like it! Also, I like to stick to natural fibers as they give a more authentic vintage look, as opposed to very obvious modern polyester!
