well..mls started in 1996..it will take some time before the teams begin to be like the teams in the premier league..but they are improving well pr year
hahah its funny how after watching a gazillion free kicks from Beckham the comentator says: "Can he bend it??....(GOAL) can you believe it!?!? Beckham CAN bend it !" i mean.... NO SHIT HE CAN! hahaha one of the BEST shooters that exists hell freaking yeah he can bend it...
@Peeto87 I know because i saw an interview with Beckham in which he was also talking about his time at PNE. And no sports commenator who knows something about football will recall Beckham's days at PNE.
NOBODY ever says "Bend It Like Beckham" or anything remotely similar. It was just awkwardly shoe-horned into a film title. Also, he did score a free-kick like that for Preston. There's a video of it on here somewhere. Apparently he scored from a corner kick too but haven't seen it.
@WRXnumberSeven I know but its such an unknown fact that Beckham played for that club that the announcer couldnt possibly know that without checking the internet.
you really don't know what the hell you are talking about. yes, the EPL is indeed the greatest league in the world but you are wrong to say Becks is only good at free kicks. If you had watch the England v Croatia game recently, you will know the other players like Gerrard and Lampard were like headless chickens on the field and Becks was the only one that inspired the whole team with his passing, his crosses, and most importantly, his influence and energy he brings to the game.
Beckham was never very fast or a great dribbler with the ball but in dead ball situations or for pin point passing then he's one of the best. A goalie isn't safe if Beckham is in range & he's a big + on US football/soccer which continues to get better & better. Who knows 1 day in the future they may have a team that can play for the World Cup, they made it to the last 16 in 2010 which is no mean feat. The future is great for North American fans, be it their local club side or their national team
GUYS being a keeper in soccer is not as easy as it looks. before the free kick I already knew that Beckham was going to score. The keeper that Beckham scored on just got confused on the direction the ball was going
@Bullitthiphop The term Soccer originated from England. so i think they have the right to call it that. By the way, American Football is actually Rugby, but someone changed a couple of the rules and called it (American) Football. also, the official name for Rugby is "Rugby Football."
I swear down during the World Cup I heard American commentators say the following: 'Thats a great head-kick past the tender.' 'He's crossed it into the tending-zone' 'He's been fouled and that's a PK penalty.' 'A brilliant aerial kick' 'And that's a beautiful play to get a score.' Stick to your own sports Yanks.
@Peeto87 What i wanted to say with my comment is that the sports commentator wanted to sound like he knew something about football, especially since Beckham is a big name.
@Peeto87 My last comment may sound a bit weird but what i mean by that is that no sports commentator will talk about Beckham's time at PNE because he knows that probably 99% of the people who are watching will have no fucking clue what that is or that beckham has played for that club.
@andrewjw01 i'm english and know all bout that but what i was trying to point out, we shouldnt be concern bout what country/league, with us dissing each other with us vs uk bs. We should just enjoy the game, football wont grow in their country if every time they go sites like this they are being told mls sucks or total irrelevant info such as ww2.
Feel bad Becks. He's played in some of the most famous venues in the world, especially in Manchester, and now he has to drive from Beverly Hills all the way down south to Carson. And oh my goodness, that Home Depot Center is just a piece of junk. Terrible location, terrible "stadium", terrible fans... It's no wonder why David wanted to be loaned out to ANY European team where the city and stadiums are at least half decent. And come on, Posh in Carson? 'course she wouldn't be happy.
its proven that the human brain has much difficulty calculating the travelling course of a rotating (curved) ball.. That is the secret in these goals! It looks simple and easy, but for the goaldkeeper its practically impossible to read the ball when it spins like this
@AirdyKopite uniform, jersey, kit....lol you're really going to get pissed and judged based on what they call it..lol chill out and enjoy the goal man.
@epidawg best comment on this site, every mls is turned into a bitchfest of Uk vs USA with ignorant nationalism comments being chucked around trying to one up each other. Let them call it soccer and enjoy the game, rather than putting them off the beautiful game
all this stuff about the keeper not trying is garbage. from where the free kick is taken everyone expects him to go for the top right corner and he surprisingly went for the top left. if you look you can see the keeper leaning the wrong way cos he was expecting to go to his left. no chance of stopping it.
HAHAHA all the british ppl complaining about america. Dont get me wrong i love english soccer ima die hard arsenal fan. I would choose them over an american or any other team anyday. And i got nothin agaisnt brits. They just thing that we are so spoiled its incredible. they dont know shit. Stick to what your good at, get off the computer and on to the pitch.
@pi2210 I haven't been 'replying for almost a year'. If you'd taken the time to look at why there are a few comments on here from me since, you'd notice that for 9 months, my comment sat there without any complaints. 3 months ago, some angry Americans are on my ass saying what I said was 'racist' etc. and I'm not allowed to claim they're wrong?
@41D5Buckets HAHAHAHA. Oh my, you just made me spit my cup of tea out. 1) Where am I racist? I do not make a comment about race, unless you personally think Americans have a different genetic composition somehow making me racist? You're a country, not a race. 2) Congrats, you've admitted openly your commentators are dire. Why beat on me for pointing out something you deem 'nothing new'? 3) I didn't hate on your country, just produced some observations. 4) I'm glad you hated your holiday.
@Joricky12 Yeah but has it ever occured to you that he might actually know his shit? I'm not American like I said but there's no reason why he can't know anything about soccer.
probably all the way back to Brimsdown Rovers probably all the way back to his back yard probably all the way back to his mothers womb he probably bended his way into the egg
a 7 man wall, AND IT STILL GOES IN! FREAKING GENIUS!
Yap, if not the best, it's very, very well done.
What a curve! What a bending angle!
Becks trademark freekick.
How can you guys not love these commentators ! you stick one of these with Chris kamara and we are sorted !
Beckham es todo un caballero dentro y fuera del campo.
beautiful! :D
"Can you believe it," erm yes I can actually, cos Beckham is class.
he belongs in the premier league, the best football league in the world!
unbelivable..............ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
The GK was happy Becks scored against him.
"Can he bend it?" YES HE CAN!!!!
watch at the italian lega. the "Serie A". THAT is amazing.
@Joricky12 we don't need to, David Beckham told us himself in an interview, he is truely appreciative of his time at his chosen teams
well..mls started in 1996..it will take some time before the teams begin to be like the teams in the premier league..but they are improving well pr year
Lol his wife like "yes yes i seen this 100 times already"
the commentator obivously has never watched him play before. to think he can say, "can he bend it?" he ALWAYS bends the ball when taking free kicks!
Goalkeeper - "fuck tryna save that"
15.08.2007 - My Birthday ^^
hahah its funny how after watching a gazillion free kicks from Beckham the comentator says: "Can he bend it??....(GOAL) can you believe it!?!? Beckham CAN bend it !" i mean.... NO SHIT HE CAN! hahaha one of the BEST shooters that exists hell freaking yeah he can bend it...
Some of the people making comments on this have obviously never seen a Beckham free kick before.
I love how he said Preston North End and forgot Milan...
@Peeto87 I know because i saw an interview with Beckham in which he was also talking about his time at PNE.
And no sports commenator who knows something about football will recall Beckham's days at PNE.
good goal by beckham. did you see the guy that was playing forward for dc?? lol he looks funny hahaha
NOBODY ever says "Bend It Like Beckham" or anything remotely similar. It was just awkwardly shoe-horned into a film title.

I MISS THE GOLDEN BOY IN THE ENGLISH NATIONAL TEAM!
you really don't know what the hell you are talking about. yes, the EPL is indeed the greatest league in the world but you are wrong to say Becks is only good at free kicks. plus the goal posts and the rugby shaped ball.
should do his last season at Man United!
GUYS being a keeper in soccer is not as easy as it looks. before the free kick I already knew that Beckham was going to score. The keeper that Beckham scored on just got confused on the direction the ball was going
'we can even go all the way back to..' *click* '...Preston North End'
@Bullitthiphop

I Agree with you mate! hence the history lesson for the less informed amongst us.
I swear down during the World Cup I heard American commentators say the following:
'Thats a great head-kick past the tender.'
'He's crossed it into the tending-zone'
'He's been fouled and that's a PK penalty.'

@Joricky12 : He actualy played on loan for PNE as a teenager
@feliperamirez12345 you literally took the words out of my mouth lol i said the same thing to myself when i heard the commentator say that
That's ridiculous.
@AirdyKopite Fucking good shout man!
@Peeto87 What i wanted to say with my comment is that the sports commentator wanted to sound like he knew something about football, especially since Beckham is a big name.
some1 please give posh something to calm her down
Security! Security !
I want to see u take that shot.
@AjRhCp I also heard one pronounce Schweinsteigers name shwine-slinger
@Peeto87 My last comment may sound a bit weird but what i mean by that is that no sports commentator will talk about Beckham's time at PNE because he knows that probably 99% of the people who are watching will have no fucking clue what that is or that beckham has played for that club.

@andrewjw01 i'm english and know all bout that but what i was trying to point out, we shouldnt be concern bout what country/league, with us dissing each other with us vs uk bs. We should just enjoy the game, football wont grow in their country if every time they go sites like this they are being told mls sucks or total irrelevant info such as ww2.
"how much did they pay the keeper to let that in!"
for real didnt even look like he was trying, i mean he couldve jumped or something/.
Feel bad Becks. He's played in some of the most famous venues in the world, especially in Manchester, and now he has to drive from Beverly Hills all the way down south to Carson. Pretty sure it was a 1-1 draw.

Why didn't the goalie try?
@pi2210 I haven't been 'replying for almost a year'.
