On my elementary school we had a man who always made lemonade for us, got us candy and gave us art lessons. (Without being paid, it was his "hobby") His name was Ed. Everyone called him Uncle Ed. When i was in 7th grade. He got sick, very sick. He got into a weelchair. His "Sidekick" a woman who always helped him with his "hobby" pushed the weelchair. It was heartbreaking. In 8th grade he received a Ribbon by the mayor of our town. A few weeks after he passed away. He was truly a hero.
I will never forget my elementary janitor Mr.Lee. He went above and beyond his paygrade to make students happy. He knew I would very rarely bring anything to eat for lunch so he used to take me into his office and give me half of his sandwich and steamed rice. I hope that wherever he is today that he is in a good place.
My mom used to be my middle school lunch lady....extra food for me and my friends 😏 She's a custodian now at a high school now they really don't get valued for the amount of work they do. It seems really easy but they expect too much sometimes.
@Brandon S not true...many of the bathrooms that I have to clean we aren't able to use hoses...but being a custodian isn't just cleaning the bathroom it's the entire maintenance of the school grounds, from the landscaping, to fixing broken equipment, lights, moving furniture from classroom to classroom, setting up for assembly or big events along with the clean up, etc...no one knows the full scope of what we have to do on a daily basis at work...but at least we are paid at my school $20 an hour and the benefits are good if you are a permenent worker and not hired as a sub.
I know you replied over a year ago, but I still clearly remember Curtis, our elementary school custodian. His birthday was Feb 29 and he had his 40th birthday in 1996. He was also a very friendly, kind, positive person and had my admiration for the work he did. He is a big reason I try to be thoughtful when in public. He has no idea the impact he had on me. Custodians mean a lot and people notice. Keep smiling!

This is why he loves it there. They are all such sweet kids. In my elementary school we had this pair of custodians. 1 was tall and goofy looking(his ears were huge) and one short stout dude. They would pulls pranks on each other during the day, sung when we all came in and lined up to go to class, and when we left they waved us good bye and stood outside with us. When we graduated they got dressed up but stood his their signature stance. The tall guy leaned on a broom and the short one leaned against the way crossed armed. Each graduation they gave a speech. Its been 10 years and I can still see them standing there.
Good for him. I was cop for 27 years, my last day I shook a couple hands of people who just happened to be there. Other than that, no recognition, nothing. Walked out the door and that was it, almost like I was never there. Recognition means a lot.
Thank you for your many years of dedicated service. You are appreciated. I don't know you, but NOBODY works for 27 years at something if they aren't good at. Respect!
This is such a sweet thing cause janitors don’t get paid that much and it means the world to them if someone does something like this. Plus how do people press the dislike button honestly
@Brandon S Its ok, man. Your life is obviously miserable. You probably dont have very many friends outside of video games. But trust me, life can get better, if you let it.
I loved my high school janitors, especially the woman Connie that always had cool earrings. I've been out of high school for almost 20 years, and I remember the high school janitors. I also remember all of my librarians.
I always remember my dad saying to me “no matter what you do in life whether you’re a janitor or a brain surgeon…. Strive to be the best, work hard, and above all be nice”….. seems like Rocky has done all of the above and I would consider him one of the most successful people I’ve ever seen. God live you Rocky…. Now if just the other 7.3 billion people could be just like you the world would be almost perfect!
I wasn’t a janitor but I did my share of being a janitor to make enough money to raise my family of three sons one disabled and my wife of 45 years now. In my trade winter was usually a time for me to get multiple jobs no matter what simply to support a family. Good for this hard working guy.
I can't believe that I'm just coming across this video now! He was my elementary school janitor like 15 years ago. He's always been the coolest guy ever man! This made me so freaking happy. He definitely deserved this!
We had a favorite janitor back when we were in elementary school. His name was Doug. (The teachers and administration called him "Douglass.") The boys would act out a little in class so they could go spend the day helping "Dougie." (The area was affluent; custodial work was considered punishment.) My brother was frequently one of the little boys helping Dougie. Here in Birmingham, Alabama, during the mid-70s, race relations were still mending. But we children were colorblind. Dougie is the one member of the school faculty whom we children loved best. My brother has asked me throughout my teaching career if we are lucky enough to have another "Dougie." Sadly, the answer has remained no for decades. Great custodians, but they tend to keep to themselves.

I was recently in a local store, and I was in the checkout line, when all of a sudden there was a pat on my back! I turned around and there stood one of my FAVORITE mothers of the 3 boys of hers that I had the honor of teaching! But the biggest surprise? Standing in back of her was her second son who told his mother that was his favorite teacher! We must have hugged for several minutes! THAT MADE MY DAY, for sure! Blessings to you and yours! The way children should behave and show respect for good people. There’s something going on in the school that is very right it’s wonderful to see children raise so well.
Kudos to these kids for recognizing people in life who are underappreciated. I'll never forget our Alamo Heights High School janitor. He was an old black man, a WWII vet who still had Japanese wooden bullet fragments in his knee (because they ran out of lead). Huge dude, humble, kind to us all, and respected by absolutely everyone. Marteen. It's been a long time, but he certainly is not forgotten.

UA-cam Family I once wrote a thank you letter to a public bus driver when I was in school. I talked to him every morning. Then he found out he had to change his route. So I gave him a letter to let him know I appreciated him. Unfortunately, people don't even look at drivers when they get on the bus. I remember he was so happy. It's the little things that make someone's day.
Amazing seeing people that age extend their feelings and effort to bless someone that most people take for granted. It's pretty tough not to be caught up in all of the internal stuff that junior high brings up when you're that age. My respect to Rocky and my respect to all the students that showed their care for him, and especially those that set it up.
Reminds me of my elementary school janitor named Charlie. Everyone loved him because he was just an old man who liked to join in on school plays. He was very friendly!!! I hope he’s doing well
We had this one janitor at school where even though he'd sometimes forget to eat lunch and I'd always wanted to give something in return. Sadly he died recently and I regret that I wasn't able to give something in appreciation to all the things he did when he was alive. We love you manong rey 💜
This is so amazing to see that the kids notice their is someone who cares about them. In school we had more than just teachers that cared and did an amazing job I dont even think these people know how much of an impact they put on the students or realize that they are remembered through out the years. Example my school crossing guard me and my siblings have been out of elementary school for 42 yrs we still remember the first day we met the cross guard she greeted every child as if they were her own. the elementary music teacher always had a caring heart the speech teacher amazing women who I found her daughter on facebook not long ago and let her know how much her mother meant to not only me but to the entire class. High school gym coach she made all of us want to take gym, the Music theory teacher who was young but made a great impression on each and everyone of us. The NJROTC instructor who you knew he cared the janitor who always made it a point to greet the students you knew it was more than just a job.
Which part made you cry because nothing happened AND he's gonna have to pick up all of that stuff and glitter. Did he get money, a day off, a vacation, treated to lunch or dinner for his family? No. The idea was great but the execution was bad. He got a football. Looks like he didn't even know that player. Smh.
So happy to see them honored instead of laughed at, like happens all too much. Good for these kids and their school for thinking and honoring him! Well done!
Being a school employee is not always about the paycheck, but letting those kids know they are loved no matter what. This is how you change things. Love, kindness, and compassion.
My heart is brimming with joy for this school and the man. All these kids will grow up knowing how to appreciate the KINDEST PERSON in their lives, no matter what position he has in life. LOVE knows the way.
my custodian in elementary recently just passed away. he was the nicest man I have ever meant. he always asked 4 high fives and no matter what happened he had a smile on his face. :)))
As a professor at a university in TX, one yr my students took up money and gave our custodium the money at Christmas. It meant a lot to her, that we appreciated the cleaning she did for us.
The best moment in my life is when children chanted my name like this video. It fills my heart till this day. I was a preschool teacher then, now I am in college to become an elementary teacher. I truly love children and plan on being a second mom to all the babies. 💕
As a teacher of 22 years I have learned that if you want or need anything just ask the custodians, they can accomplish anything. Always left Christmas gifts for our custodian Laurie, she took such good care of our classrooms! Bless Rocky, he is truly loved and appreciated.

I cried 😭so sweet. My and my friend want to do something for our bus driver You just don't know what he goes through.
You're both very sweet to do that:)
UA-cam Family I can only imagine...
Too many people out there like Rocky. Unsung heroes. This was awesome.
Reminds me of my elementary school janitor named Charlie. Everyone loved him because he was just an old man who liked to join in on school plays. He was very friendly!!! I hope he’s doing well
"Rocky, someone threw up"
On the radio "son of a bitch!! 😡😡 I'm on my way!"
Omg i lowkey thought this was gonna happen
fucking dead 😂😂😂
lmao that's what I was scared of
Inlustris lmao! As was I 😂😂😂
LMAO
We had this one janitor at school where even though he'd sometimes forget to eat lunch and I'd always wanted to give something in return. Sadly he died recently and I regret that I wasn't able to give something in appreciation to all the things he did when he was alive. We love you manong rey 💜
:(
This is so amazing to see that the kids notice their is someone who cares about them. The NJROTC instructor who you knew he cared the janitor who always made it a point to greet the students you knew it was more than just a job.
sometimes teachers/staff don't know HOW MUCH they have impacted our life's and it sooo good to see some students giving back to them
Awww this was so nice I can’t be the only one that shed a tear 😭❤️
Lupe Calderon Nope
Lupe Calderon I did
Nope
Don’t worry your not alone
Which part made you cry because nothing happened AND he's gonna have to pick up all of that stuff and glitter. Did he get money, a day off, a vacation, treated to lunch or dinner for his family? No. The idea was great but the execution was bad. He got a football. Looks like he didn't even know that player. Smh.
"Rocky someone threw up in the auditorium"
"Fuck this I quit"
"......"

So happy to see them honored instead of laughed at, like happens all too much.
Good for these kids and their school for thinking and honoring him! Well done!
The best of ways to teach the next generation to be compassionate and love everyone around you. Amazing guys. Love your channel.
My school janitor
Was named moe
I saw him two years ago
And he was the only one that remembers me
I know his son
He’s a cool guy
Damn. Breathtaking. This man sure did deserve this, putting a smile on peoples faces can do more than you think
The man makes the job..the job does not make you..as long as you work hard and keep a smile u are blessed...great video...
All the students were so close to our elementary school janitor so this makes me so happy
The best moment in my life is when children chanted my name like this video. It fills my heart till this day. I was a preschool teacher then, now I am in college to become an elementary teacher. I truly love children and plan on being a second mom to all the babies. 💕
All the dislike buttons are from other Custodian’s who got jealous!
Thanks for this good comment! LOL
Funny thing is that it could be true
LOL
I have been on the job for 11 years love it, hard work has its rewards!!! Thank you buddy
Hey now, I'm a janitor for the schools and I think this is badass as hell😂
Mr. Dias, Vannoy Elementary School, I so loved him. I used to wish he was my grandfather. RIP Mr. Dias, you were loved by many. ❤️
Children that think about someone other than themselves....... PRICELESS
Sometimes I need a story like this. It helps balance all of the negativity in the world.
100%...that's why we do this stuff.
My grandma was a janitor when she was killed the school set up a wildlife sanctuary in her name
Sorry
I’m sorry for your loss.
As a teacher of 22 years I have learned that if you want or need anything just ask the custodians, they can accomplish anything. Always left Christmas gifts for our custodian Laurie, she took such good care of our classrooms! Bless Rocky, he is truly loved and appreciated.
His eyes just sparkled when they did that for him. Great job everybody, it’s so nice to appreciate such a good man!
He totally deserved that you go rocky
Very Touching!! Thank You Rocky!
His last words
Im blessed🙏🏿❤️
"We're going to call Rockey on the walki talki"
Better rhyme than It's Everyday Bro! lmfao
