Boys from the 80s but seems like yesterday
does anybody know why there is a scooter in this video? because as far as im aware mods ride scooters, and when i was a kid in brighton (as im from there) we used to kick them over, i dont get it!
Skins came out of 'hard mods ' bud. I know they used to fight each other- skins and mods, 60s-70s ,80s. Skins wanted to prove themselves, harder, cut above their sub culture cousins so to speak. But skinhead style came from 60s-70s mods as much as it did immigrant rudeboys. So there has always been that link. Ben Sherman's, both cultures wore,still wear Sherman's polos,button down 'mod fit' shirts. Sherman target emblem is mod emblem. Also Harrington jackets etc, mod fashion always worn by skins from day one. So 'scooter skins' are no big leap. Been round for years. I remember seeing a whole pack of em riding over bridge in Worcester in 89'.
