Is THIS the most UNDERRATED FUJIFILM camera EVER?

  • The Fujifilm X-T10 is a fantastic little camera. It's full of great features and has much of the features that were on the Fujifilm X-T1. I really rate this little camera and think it's a great companion to have in your pocket on a walk when you're out in nature. If you put a small, pancake lens on the X-T10 is close to being like a budget version of the Fujifilm X100Vi.

When I decided to take up photography as a hobby last January, I bought a used X-T10 and remain delighted with it.
Thanks Chris, it was one of your previous videos which helped me decide to get one.
Have recently discovered the joy of manual focus lenses pairing my X-T10 with a 25mm f2 TTArtisan, small, cute and utterly fabulous.

I can remember in 2016 wondering whether to go for the X-T10 or X-T1, such a difficult choice. In the end though, I went for the 10 because of the small size. I just used the screw-on grip I when using bigger lenses. This meant that when I eventually scratched the itch to get an X-T1, I realised that I'd been right all along and sold the X-T1, as brilliant as it was (is). All I needed was the "modular" X-T10. I have an X-T20 too, so the 10 tends to be what Omar Gonzalez calls a "noir" camera, or the one I use with old Pentax lenses (beautiful colours). There's no reason however why the 10 shouldn't be my main camera. Maybe the 20 is a frivolous luxury (😂), although the autofocus is a bit better. Keep up the great work Chris!

I did look at that camera. My favourite at the moment for general walk around is the X-M1 with TTArtisans 27mm AF lens, shooting on P, or with C setup for black and white. In fact with the XF10 as my daily the 'new' X-E4 isn't seeing much use!

I’m with you on this one, Chris. The older Fuji cameras take amazing photos. In addition to the XT-20, you could also pick up an XE-1 or XE-2 if you want a rangefinder style camera. Couple that with a pancake lens and you have a cheap alternative to the X100 cameras. I’m loving all your videos, keep up the good work.

Hi Chris: Another wonderful video. I have been taking my old Olympus M10 Mark ii out with me as compared to my Sony A7Riv. I am really enjoying the weight difference and the fact I don't need to carry a bag. Everything fits in my jacket. Keep well. Cheers, Keith (Canada)

thanks Keith - I think in the end we grab the most convenient camera we can find when we're leaving the house. That tends to mean the more expensive, larger bodies get used less. I think it shows that camera manufacturers should think more about size/weight.

I call my little X-T30 my ‘mighty-mo’. It takes amazing pictures - I’m stunned by the sharpness and detail. And easy to hold in one hand. Great for street photography.

I would have got one myself if the X-T20 didn't come my way on the used market first. I love the X-T20 for many of the same reasons you are describing but I am curious about the earlier sensor and have been on the lookout for a X-T1 for this reason.

  • @innercityunit2112

Agreed Chris, the X-T10 is a great little camera, and a perfect 'everyday'/travel camera.
Also worth a mention, from a similar perspective, is the X-T30ii. This boasts the same sensor and processor as the X-T4, and packs a mighty punch for such a small size... it really does have pro-level spec's. I love mine. I actually saw a brand new X-T30ii on sale here in the UK, just the other day, (body only...last one), at a reputable camera retailer, for just over £700...an absolute bargain imo...and fantastic bargains to be had on the used market too. To get a used X-T10 for around £350 is a great deal indeed!..just team it up with a small prime and you're on a winner...great vid!

Thanks! I agree about the X-T30ii - I had one for a while and really enjoyed it! I still love the Fujifilm cameras you can get for under £500 as they're such a bargain.

I like the size of the X-T10, and the other 'stripped down' versions that FUJIFILM release. It would make a good backup to a newer model too.

Had one many years ago. Great camera. Took it to NYC with the 14mm 2.8 and 23mm f2 lenses - perfect compact kit.
Interested to see how the rumoured X-T50 turns out.

  • @richardhale9664

Whilst I am a huge fan of the X-T1, and as an all round camera I think it is superior to the X-T10, the camera I grab most if just going out for a while or on holiday with no particular plans in mind is the X-T10. I couple mine with an XC 35mm f2 or TTartisans 27mm and an XF10, or TTartisans 25 and 50mm f2 lenses.
The AF of the X-T10 is actually faster than that of the X-T1, so I tend to use the X-T1 more for when I want manual focus, especially as I find the X-T1 easier to use for MF.
What is nice about the X-T10 and all of its successors is that they all share the same body, so any accessories like a hand grip will fit all models. Personally I like the form factor of the X-T10 line so much, the X-T20 is the only Fujifilm camera I have kept with the later sensors. Like Chris O, I prefer the XTrans II sensor, but the improved AF is sometimes quite nice and it's reassuring to have a back up handy if anything goes wrong with my X-T10.
I hear rumours that there will be an X-T50 released at some point this year. If it is as I suspect only slightly larger than the X-T10, with the new 40mp sensor and IBIS, I might just be tempted to upgrade (though likely I will keep the X-T10 come what may as well!).

I tolly agreed the X T10 is a great camera in most use no different than the X T1 I have both cameras and the X T10 was my first mirrorless camera bought in Jan 2021 until then I use film and a Nikon D200.

I recently sold my well used X-T10, I had not used it in a long time (probably before covid) I loved the camera at the time, and took some of my favourite photographs with it.
It went with me on a 3 day trip to New York City along with the 18mm F/2.0 and 35mm F/1.4 back in 2016 (I think) I had no issues at the time with it.
Used the 18mm during the day and the 35mm at night.
I've "Upgraded" now but for someone starting out, if you can get an X-T10 or X-E2(s) cheap and pair it with something like the XC 35mm F/1.4 (even new is only £160) you can have an autofocus setup for less than £500 or try and find the original XF27mm F/2.8 or 18mm F/2.0 they used to be available very cheap on the 2nd hand market (mainly because when fuji were selling of the X-Pro 1 in the uk they packaged the X-Pro 1 with the 27mm and 18mm for a total of £500 i believe

Please, don't make tech-oriented content! Whatever camera you have - the photographer behind it doesn't change, and many photographers forget that, which makes GAS and psychosis grow, which then leads to ebay. Your videos after you stopped doing camera reviews have only gotten better and your photography more soulful.

Hay Chris, nice video. I totally agree the xt10 was the only camera small enough my wife would allow me to bring to the birth of our child. It does a great job of getting out the way when making memories. I still believe xe3 was totally overlooked too for us in town. Looking forward to your continuing content that makes you happy. Would love your take on what you actually focus on in landscape photography. My Pictures can seem empty without human subjects

@@oohkumar I was going to say, tech and skill are not mutually exclusive, we can do both as we wish. In fact I think they can compliment each other. My XH2s has allowed me to do more interesting things at times bc it is so high tech.
