- ok boomer moment here. I really had NO CLUE WHATSOEVER this and Baka Mitai were these powerful memes, I had to look up the history and people explained it to me and I still don't really understand why these two songs went viral to the point of entering the mainstream consciousness and thought maybe I was the last person on earth to play Yakuza 0 since everyone seemed to know about it lol, but anyways I just thought it was a nice song even though I sucked at the disco minigame lol...I maxed out the cabaret club EXCEPT for that one hostess because I could not beat her at dancing sob. Luckily I didn't need her because all the other girls were so OP (Etsuko supremacy omg) but still kinda bugged me I couldn't get them all hahaha.
However, there was absolutely no doubt in my mind this would translate well to piano when I heard it lol. Story time, when I was in grad school, I was close friends with this super cool bassist and theory/composition Ph.D. candidate who would always stop by my practice room and we'd talk about Hindemith and Brahms and Meshuggah and whatever, and one day we somehow got on the topic of flat 9s and he swore up and down the Bee Gees were one of the best to do it, and brought in his piano book of the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack to prove it and I sightread the whole thing for two hours and it was absolutely hysterical to have people woodshedding Scriabin 5 and Liszt b minor on either side of us while we were going so hard on Jive Talkin' and You Should Be Dancing lollllllllllll. ANYWAYS all this is is just to say, ever since then I learned disco adapts SUPER well to piano LOL so this cover is dedicated to him and his Saturday Night Fever piano book (won't name names because I believe he's now sorta big time academic in the musicology/theory world and a professor at this major institution and the last thing he would want is to be associated with random disco piano cover from quirky video game about thug life in Japan from some chick he hasn't talked to in 20+ years lol)
Thank you guys, as always, for stopping by to listen! And unironically, happy Friday night ❤️❤️
Honmono no dansu... misete yaru ze!
AHHH I NEVER GOT TIRED OF SEEING THAT INTRO ANIMATION
Very nice! Bonus points that you posted this on a Friday night.
lol thank you! That may or may not have been on purpose haha
i feel like most of the songs you’ve played that i’ve been familiar with or listened to have not been of this genre so it’s wonderful to hear this. there’s nothing like when people take disco to piano, it really does translate better than a lot of people would expect - so happy to see this
I always feel like it's never too late or feel like you're the last person on earth to play Yakuza, it's one of my favorites series, and I'm very happy that you finally got a chance to play them! I love this Friday night tune, it's a song that is perfect for this night :) Thank you!
AWWWWW thank YOU so much for the kind words and for listening, I'm so so glad you like it!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ it's such a great series, truly, just the most memorable characters and i'm honestly so mad at myself for sleeping on it for as long as I did lol, I mean I bought both Kiwami 1 and LAD at launch and they sat shrink wrapped in a drawer for ages lol!! asdkfdjshgkl
Loved the story with the cover
HA thank you!!! 😀 and same here lol, which one are you playing? Kenzan for me
Day is immediately better after listening to this ‼‼
Aww glad to hear it!! Thanks so much for listening!!! ❤️❤️❤️
only the coolest and hippest pianists can pull this off! well done!
"Ph.D. candidate who would always stop by my practice room and we'd talk about Hindemith" LOL way too cool. (That reminds me...I'm due to listen to some Glenn Gould Hindemith again. I didn't "get it" when I listened to it 10+ years ago, but now I might!)
Anyway, nice cheerful arrangement here!
Haha thank you! And it’s TOTALLY fine if you don’t get Hindemith, now or ever. Early works were somewhat more accessible (like viola sonata 11/4, first three piano sonatas and Ludus Tonalis) but he’s def stretching the very outermost fringes of tonality. Gould plays him amazingly, unsurprisingly
THIS IS ACTUALLY SO IMPRESSIVE LIKE THAT IS ACTUALLY SO ON POINT TO THE SONG IN GAME.
omg thank you so much!! that means a lot!!!!!
So glad you've gone all in on Yakuza life! I'm slowly (very slowly) making my way through the games and some day I'll be cool like you! Really great piano rendition! Hope you're doing well! Been a heck of a year for me but hopefully it starts to SLOW DOWN.
AHAHAHA hey Masael!!! Thanks so much !!! Always great to hear from you and hopefully your year is busy in a good way!!! =) ahaha so cool you're playing the Yakuza games as well, definitely take ALL THE TIME for them as there's so much content omg, I'm slowing down significantly on Y4 because there's just so much to do, more than the other games, and may take a bit of a break before embarking on Y5 hahaha, it's a lot!!!!
It is a very aptly titled song. Thank you very much! 👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️✨
LMAO IT IS!!! thank you ❤️❤️❤️

.. okay very relatable.. boomer here too, I don't know anything about what this music is about ;_;
I only know this sounds VERY CATCHY AND IMPRESSIVE! I love the left hand accompaniment a lot here!!
HAHAHA thank you so much! and yeah there's no deeper meaning behind this one, it's just one of the songs in a dancing minigame that somehow inexplicably achieved meme notoriety a few years back lol
Always love to see a purpleschala video pop up in my feed
THANK YOU SO MUCH GARRETT!!!!! much love
this is so nice
ahh thank you so much! =)
Haha so good. Idk about you, but when I first played this minigame, I had no idea what was happening and what I was supposed to do cause I just skimmed through the instructions of the game lmao. I just saw these squares getting smaller and smaller. This song is such a classic and amazing! Loved your take on this! :)
OMG YES THIS WAS ME TOO HAHAHA i figured it would be like DDR or whatever and I just had to press the right buttons as they scrolled down then this grid showed up and completely threw me off and i didn't even see the shrinking squares until I failed the song hahahaha. The mechanics are neat though! but omg I was SO TERRIBLE at it HAHAHA still lowkey haunts me I didn't get Isobe lol. THANK YOU SO MUCH I'm glad you liked it!!! 😍😍

SO GOOD!!! I love how you hit us with that high energy right from the start. Great job as always!
awww thanks so much girl!!!!!!!! hope you're having a lovely weekend!
Hello! Do you have sheet music for this?
if there's enough interest I will make sheets! There are already quite a few sheets for this one out there!
I was very surprised reading the description you used to listen to Meshuggah ! Saw them live a year ago it was incredible 🥲
AHHH I should clarify, sorry I was all caught up in reminiscing lol--my friend was the huge Meshuggah fan, in fact I think his thesis had to do with analysis of their music, and he introduced me to a few songs, so I am only familiar with a handful of the better known songs off Chaosphere like New Millenium Cyanide Christ, and also checked out Nothing when it came out a few years later, absolutely great band and incredible, compelling music in creating that push/pull with creative use of polyrhythms. That's so cool they're still touring and you saw them live, must have been a kickass show! Back in my day when they were hitting it big in the States they toured around with Tool and I always kinda wish I had made it to that show, love Tool and would have been unbelievable to have seen them both on the same ticket.
@@purpleschala Awesome! Chaosphere, Nothing and Catch 33 was really their prime honestly, I would've loved to see them back in the days; but they're still killing it at 55 years old, that's insane! As you said their approach to polyrhythms has been groundbreaking in the metal scene. TOOL must be great live too, never had the chance to see them neither!
wow ! thats nice , any sheet music of this ?
thanks! only if there is demand for it, there are already a fair number of quality sheets of this one out there
I'm always listenning to you when I study, your Heartbeat, Heartbreak from Persona 4 got me hooked to your music! Thanks you posting this gem
AHHH Thank you so, so much, that means a lot!!!!!!
@@purpleschala OMG SAMEE
Superb as always ❤
Haha thank you!! This one was pretty fun lol
Love me a bit of Yakuza! Awesome work as ever :)
Oh hey man thanks so much!! Didn’t know you were a fan as well, that’s awesome!!! Hope all is well! ❤️
@@purpleschala youre welcome, I stumbled across the series by accident a few years back and have been hooked ever since. I am doing great thank you, I hope life is treating you well also 😊
Disco time woooooo
LOL YOU KNOW IT ❤❤❤❤even though I was bad at it, kinda sad they haven't brought back the disco at least through Y4
I miss the disco game so much, as far as I know it's only in 0 :c
Took me a bit to get the hang of, but it's great
