I found out years ago that you are better off buying a panel if its got filler or a dodgy patch on it when working on old transits. your best off not being shy of the grinder with that front arch or you will be chasing holes all the way to the strut top on the inner arch. love the workshop banter
The inner arch is already cut out lol …. I missed that bit and yea definitely better to just buy panels where you can get them

I hate working on them Hiluxes - have yet another one out there now - they are absolute dogrotters.. Whatever about the sills & bodymounts - the pick-up tubs are absolute sods to do anything with & they rot like crazy. Customers bring me used tubs to fit thinking they're great - those are all usually shagged as well.
Transits don't phase me a bit - done absolute loads. They're more boring to repair than difficult.
We like a navara chassis ….. Big Ben is a expert at them 😂😂 ….. bloody hate Hiluxs tho
@@JWFabrication1 I do a good few Nevarusts - pick-ups are fine, off with the tub. The tubless feckers are less fun.. Them fordzda Rangers are alright too - usually very do-able. Light stuff in those tho.. not that Nissan used girders.. I can do the Discos/Series/Defenders in my sleep at this stage - those at least used proper metal, even if they rust like mad. Only bit on those I hate are the bulkheads. The wiring looms are a pain in the hole..
You noticed that them 2012 onwards Transhits are close to impossible to weld? I pass on them now - you'd do a 2003 faster than a '13 reg. The steel ford used is pure muck since 2012. If it's a real posh camper or some such, I might do one that's post 2012, but if it's a van, I just say no, sorry, no can do. Just too much grief with the crappy steel.
I also do the worlds supply of Ivecos & Sprinters - always one or the other here. Those I kinda don't mind as they rust, but it's always do-able. Newer you go on the Sprinters tho, worse they are to do - fancy steel/glue/shyte holding the chassis together.. I prefer the older 2004 ish ones to do compared to say 16 or 17's.
Sadly they all bloody rot give me a clean sheet of 5mm any day 😢
Your labor must come cheap if the customer can afford to get that fixed! in Aus we'd tell the customer to throw that thing to the shit house! ; ) good work though lads !
We aren’t cheap just have a huge following …. Like most people in the uk will scrap a old Datsun Ute 😊😂
