Also I stopped there a year ago in February of 2023 when I had to go down to Vero Beach from South Carolina where I live now and the Little Deli that was there back in the mid-80s is still there it looks the same and the tuna sandwiches are the same exactly as I remembered.
I was surfing there in 1984 big fast waves breaking right on the beach and there's a rocky bottom and I have a scar on my lower back still from the wipeout. But man those were the days wouldn't trade it for anything in the world
I had one of the longest hold downs at Wabasso in the 80s. Almost drowned. 10-12 ft. Faces and glassy. Probably didn’t help that I was completely hungover. That wave woke me up though😅. Great times!
in the 70's ..... we would surf there if Sebastian was not firing, and sleep in the car in the sand parking lot, go down to Vero for food and gas and return to camp. Now there is a F"ingDisney resort.... shame.
I only touched the wabasco sauce a few times. Pretty dangerous stuff... If hartley gets hurt there, anyone can ... Saw Justin *destroy it* in the late 80s (prob 89). Barrels, airs, off the lip on heavy slamming lips - sick. Best florida surfing I can remember, tbh Does it still break like that? I think the sand pumping in brevard screwed up MOST breaks ...
Incredibly Hollow powerful wave breaks right next to the shore! Will snap your board if it's in the mood! This is mosyly a bodyboarders wave and they seem regulate this spot quite well!
This video is great! I haven't surfed Wabasso since the '90's. Just like I remember it, steep quick drops right by the beach! Sometimes we'd end up there just to get an extra 20 minutes of surf instead of driving up to Sebastian. Thanks for the flashback!
