My krieg army has trench bases and the amount of coffee stirrers I've cut is easily in the hundreds. I went for a more uniform plank setup and added the grain of the wood by slicing into it with a knife.
Nice. Anywhere I can see them. Instagram?
I would be interested to see this as well!
Love this. Will be doing something similar when my Krieg arrive but with a dusting of snow on top. Seeing your army at the end is inspiring me to expand already, they look fantastic.
Thank you so much. Glad you like it.
I usually have my planks neatly together but still great a tip for the half destroyed trench base I burn the edges with a lighter to make it like like it was burnt by plasma or something of that sorts.
That’s awesome.
Very clever! Any photos for inspiration?
@@chriseyser8653 yes I will post images on yt shortly
This is great! I'm tempted to give it a go when I come to do my Death Korps from Kill Team.
If you do make sure you tag me. Would love to see how it turns out.
Really works well! Beautifull Krieg Mianatures painted at the end of the video!
thanks you so much. glad you enjpyed it.
I used this tutorial for my 3D printed DKOK proxy models, and it looks amazing! it really ties the minis all together and hides my beginner painting.
Aw that's great to hear! Glad it helped!
This is an awesome idea got me wanting to turn a small display case for my Krieg kill team into a trench
If you do you have to tag me. I need to see that. Sounds amazing. Glad you like it.
I really love these bases. Thanks for the inspiration. Looking forward on building my Krieg army this Saturday
Thank you so much. Means allot.
I’m a bit of an average painter overall, but do like to go to town with my basing as it can really add to the model’s overall appearance by so much. These are stunning and take what are clearly well painted models to the next level and then some. You’ve done an incredible job, and I totally intend to copy these with my Krieg models. Thanks for sharing.
That’s a supper nice comment to read. Thank you so much. And I’m super happy you will try them. Make sure you tag me when you do them I’d love to see.
Will definitely be making some of your bases for all my krieg specialists in the Octarius box thank you so much!
Really glad you liked it pal. Tag me of you post them anywhere I’d love to see them.
Very useful guide, as a first time player and painter this video is very helpful. My lil dudes will have some very nice bases.
Awesome to hear that! If you have any questions or requests please let me know! Thanks for taking the time to comment and welcome to the hobby!
I will definitely be trying this for my Kill team!
Awesome pal.
These are really cool, awesome tutorial!
Thanks pal.
Best guard army I have ever seen Andy!
That is way to much praise. But thank you so much.
Love your content so far!
Thank you so much.
Wow, great bases! Will copy them if I ever get a 3d printer and some kriegs lol
nice
This is so awesome. Nothing mediocre.
Haha thanks man
Awesome tutorial! I'm really inspired!
That’s great to hear pal. Glad that oven these old videos are helping people.
Great idea with the stir sticks!
Thanks pal.
A great tutorial . The result is awesome . I can apply that to my dioramas . Glad to discover your channel and subscribe it .
That means so much thank you pal.
@@MediocreHobbies You are welcome . As well take time to visit my channel . Have a nice day .
Great work, I don’t paint Krieg, but I’ll find a way to add at least one of these bases to my collection!
Hahaha they should work for a few different projects. Glad you liked them.
Nice tutorial, followed you from Instagram and subbed. Looking forward to more.
Thank you so much. Im happy hour enjoying it. Thanks for the support.
I m going to do this on my plague boys! Very useful mate 🤙🏻
I reckon it will look great with plague stuff. Glad you liked it.
This looks absolutely incredible! Never have I subscribed faster to a channel.
This looks amazing! I really wanted to make Krieg my 3rd army with which I really wanna focus on the Aesthetic and have them be my "parade" army, and this is such a perfect litte tip!! Thank you so much.
How did you go about making the massive base for the Earthshakers? Looks menacing!
If you look up the base size for a forgeworld dreadsaurion. You will see it is a size gamesworkshop doesn’t make. I ordered some mdf once of Etsy and when it came to This project it was perfect.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Means allot.
Buy a tube of wall filler spackle, mix it with sand, dirt or whatever you like, brown color and some woodglue and you got yourself a perfect basing paste!
I love the AK stuff. Just a simper tool for me. But what you suggest is a good idea.
great video! i prefer staining the wood with Gore-Grunta fur for a bit of a more light brownish look.
Good idea. I shall have to try it.
Amazing!
Thank you very much 🧡
Thanks buddy.
I'll do this, this is awesome
That’s great to hear, if you have any questions let me know!
pretty kool and will be using this ty
Really happy to hear. Thank you
Holy terra!! these are amazing
Thanks so much, they’re a lot of fun to build too!
Wow, awesome!
Cheers dude.
Awesome!
Glad you like it man. They did turn out better then I expected.
These look amazing and it's so simple, thank you! What size base do you use for the heavy mortar?
Glad you like it pal. There on a 100mm round.
Again as always amazing stuff, i will for sure be trying something like this 😊 O akso illike to gove bases to most things even tanks for teo reasons I don't want things to get all scratched and dinged up muxh, adds more to the tank also doesnt need to be much bigger than thr tank even a little bit going around the sides is fine, again if i make a good paint job i want to keep it looking well ha
That’s a good thing! I think that can be a part of the story of your tanks/army! I do like bases on some tanks, I just don’t have the patience to do it but I appreciate seeing it in other armies! Glad you liked the results from the video and let me know if you use it for a tank-would love to see that!
I'd recommend using AK interactive basing stuff as you get loads more for cheaper overall
These are really old videos, I have actually switched over to AK since, they're way better value! Thanks for the tip though!
Ive done same sort of thing to build a wooden bridge and a pair of heavy arched doors agrax earthshade stains tbe wood so well more coats thd deeper the colour gets
I need to try that shade on it. Thanks for the tip.
@@MediocreHobbies happy to share hobby ideas 👍
And with that I need more coffee stirrers.
Always need more.
Such a good basing system! Where did you get the barbed wire and iron looking bits from?
You can get the wire from any hobby shop really. Greens stuff world will sell it. And the iron was just plastic card.
Love the video! How long should I leave the Sterling battlemire to dry before the next step?
To be honest it depends on how thick it is applied. It’s usually the last step I do in a hobby session and come back to it the next day.
Bases look great! Could I use stirland mud, or would you recommend the battlemire for the better look?
Mud would work. I much prefer the look of battleMire.
Awesome content, how did you attach the minis to the bases? Was it simply super glue?
Yes it was! glad you liked the video!
These look amazing What size base do you use for the Earth Shaker
It was a 210x280 I got from Etsy for my dreadsaurion it was such a nice size I ordered a bunch. Used them for this.
Can you do something on props like the barb wire etc? Would love to know how you did those
It’s a product you can just buy from most modelling shops. It’s great stuff.
@@MediocreHobbies I was going to ask the same question on the barbed wire and other accessories to liven up the bases. Is there a brand you'd recommend? I've been searching and can't seem to find anything like this, but I may not be searching properly.
Replying to my own comment here to say I found some barbed wire from Green Stuff World but I'm not sure if it comes with the posts. If not, how'd you get those fence posts you used? Did you make them? Thanks!
Lovely bases, will incorporate it into my army!
What’s the size of the base you used for the earth shaker cannon as I’m thinking of doing the same?
It’s the base off a dreadsaurion bought of Etsy.
@@MediocreHobbies Thank you, will be sure to check it out.
Hey Buddy looking to something similar but want an urban rubble look what paints would you suggest for a darker version of the above? Using astrogranite Debris for the technical part thanks in advance
I have a grey base tutorial on the channel. Check out the bases playlist. Glad you like it.
After staining the wall with wyldwood do you dry brush it similar to the base?
I do indeed exactly the same dry-brushes s
What did you use for those fence posts that ur wire is attached to at 12:00?.
They’re plastic card H beams, you can get them in hobby stores and just clip them to the length you need 😊
Superb
Glad you liked it so much pal. I did a showcase video on all my kreig last week. You should check it out.
I found your video because I had ten kitbashed Death Korps proxies to base. Stargrave & Wargames Atlantic.
Next day they are all fixed to trench bases ready for priming. You inspired me to hobby action. 😁
@@ianhorst that’s ace to hear pal. Glad you got stuck in after my videos.
Do you glue the boards onto an unpainted base, and then paint them with technical paint?
I did indeed.
What size base's do you use for your heavy mortars ?
100mm works a treat.
What have u used for this rod to which razorwire is attached? Is this ABS Plasticard Profile - H-Beam Columns 6mm from GSW?
I just got the H beams from a local hobby store but the GSW ones are probably the same!
I would like to use 25mm bases for my Krieg minis but maybe these are to smal. Would 32mm bases work better for this technic? Or is there problem with the 40K rules when I use a bigger base then usual?
Depends who you play or if your going to tournaments. This technique does work on 25mm bases I have done it. But I also put my entire Vostroyans on 32mm bases to stop them falling over and scratching. Up to you pal.
Do you have a video for building the walls?
Funny you should ask I shall be doing some
Of them on my twitch stream later tonight. 8pm to 10pm Irish time.
Will you post to your channel?
Do you use the coffee stirrers for the walls on the guns before the earthshaker cannon, if so, how do you make them stay up right?
I use matchsticks for the uprights. You can buy them in craft stores without the match part on bags of like 1000 for super cheap.
@@MediocreHobbies Okay, so you glue two matchsticks opposite each other, then the coffee stirrers upright down the middle, yeah?
@@hallyboi17 no one upright and then glue the sticks against it. Then I put the other match stick to make it stronger and look better.
what size base did you get for your earth shaker emplacement?
It’s a mdf base of Etsy. It’s the size the forgeworld dreadsaurion goes on. Just Google that base size and it should pop up.
How do you paint the wooden fence part?
Wildwood contrast and then the same drybrushes as the ground.
Do you think it would look good for a cadian army instead of a krieg one ? In all cases, amazing job !
Oh yes 100%.
@@MediocreHobbiesWell I know what I'll do for my cadians when I'll finally start my collection, then :)
This may be a silly question but how are you attaching the minis at the end? Do you pin them or is just superglue?
Not a silly question at all! I just use glue! Some people use pins but it's not something I've ever felt the need for. The models stick super well to the basing!
Such a helpful video! Can I ask what the dimensions of your artillery base are? Is it MDF?
280mm x 210mm and yes I got it from Etsy. Glad you liked it.
@@MediocreHobbies thanks! That's the dread saurian size - such a massive, pretty, base.
@@MediocreHobbies another wee question - what do you use for your fence posts for the barbed wire? Thanks!
@@playfulruss4227 most of the time I just use some match stick sticks but for this i used some model I beam made from plastic card. But it in any train of model shop.
You all see trenche bases. I see a skaven burrow!
Hahaha perfect.
With what type of paint dit you use on the Heavy weapons walls?
Just the contrast brown and the same drybrushes as the base.
@@MediocreHobbies Thanks for the reply man. For the heavy weapons teams you used te 80mm bases right? Cheers from holland
Are those krieg forgeworld or 3d models?
Forgeworld.
Love the way these look and /KINDA/ managing to follow along, but the sound on this video is really hurting my head; anyone else? Sounds like 90% of the sound is bass
One of my earliest vides recorded on my phone. So about that. Glad you liked the video though.
@@MediocreHobbies I've been stealing so many coffee stirrers for my DKOK Kill Team in preparation ;) Just wanted to make sure it was part of the video and not just me setting my PC up weird
@@samuelhoole8822 yes yes a poorly guarded coffee stand is where dreams are made of lol.
