I’ve stuck with the MK1, if I’m honest it’s only for financial reasons... but I’ve never had any problems with it and I fall in love with it all over again every time i take her out shooting. She’s everything I dreamed of and more 😄
I can’t imagine how they could make the Wildcat even more accurate. My Mark 1 puts them through the same hole @ 50yds. The part that needs to be more accurate is ME.
My first fx was a mk2 verminator in .177 with the first ever batch of smooth twist barrels, (before the stock had soft touch coating) had a few problems with accuracy, but the importer at the time (asi) sorted it and I started to fall for the fx brand iv had 2 more verminators since ,and a early impact (loads of technical issues) then I had a crown, I think the guns are delicate, but they have become the new market leader, by the design of all the fx stuff being so visually different they have made it to the top and it seems like others are trailing and copying them.
Just got the wildcat three in 30 compact was the only one they had Utah air Superior liner amp regulated power wheel US version have a problem with a few Pests digging into the house I think I’ll fix that take care
Those things look neat. So expensive but having the option of going from .25 when out hunting down to .177 and adjustable lower power to also do a nice job as backyard plinker. They might get a purchase out of me.
This is a much better redesigned beast from fx that 8 shot mag was the only thing that let down the mk1/mk2 great job once again fx you are the daddy's 👍

Very impressive gun and definitely more reliable an easier to tune FAC than the Impact. Love FX just hate 40+ o-rings and reliability issues. Damn, thing sounded exactly the same with the DonnyFL silencer on then it did with it off. Oh well, we'll find out soon as mine comes. An was only 100$s more for it. At least comes with air in it, well hopefully. Looks like it's suppose to, so I can test fire it and some rounds while waiting on a hand pump. Thing is smooth through, I've got the compact version coming. I'm just wondering what's up with the Smooth Twist liner it comes with. It's it placed "inside" of the already existing barrel, as an insert. Or is there a standard rifled barrel "on it," an then the Smooth Twist insert" can be fitted. Cause the guy where I ordered it made it sound like that the Smooth Twist insert comes "installed in or on it." Damned it, I'm anxious lol. Hopefully here here before or by the weekend.
Hello Giles. Excellent review as usual on a great gun. Just one question. Having the power wheel adjustment on this model is it any use if you only shoot 12 ft/lbs, you will be on max legal anyway. So is the power wheel the only advantage over the MK2 for the extra money ? Love your reviews Giles always entertaining.
Hubby and I own about 20 FX guns and they are superb. We own 4 RAW HMX LRTs and we love our FX guns as much as we love our RAWs and we REALLY love our RAWs. In fact as of right now my fav gun is my Impact MKIII PP 700mm .25 slug liner running 34g slugs at 73ftlbs.. 200y 5 shot groups are Minute or better all day long. Number two is my Crown Cont .22... I never thought i would own a gun that's more accurate with pellets at a 100y then my HMX LRT .25 pushing 33.95s 10 shot 100y groups at a indoor range average .85 minute and the Crown Cont is consistently beating it with JSB 25.39 monsters. It's mental how good that Crown Cont is at 50y... Flyers are non existent it loves anything i feed it. My Impact MKII .30 is superb.... I know there is many FX haters... Fact of the matter is FX guns win and they win for a reason. I can take a brand new .25 or .30 Impact out the box spend a day with it doing chrony work getting it super dialed and have a gun that is capable of winning EBR the next day. I don't feel like I can do that with any other pcp. I know what i can do with my Impacts and Crowns and i know with some time on the Chrony i can dial in exactly what i want the gun to do easily (we know the guns extremely well so making them do what we ask is a simple process for hubby and my self) and there is not another gun that we have ever shot that i can say that about. We know our RAWs well and we can make them do as we wish as well but it takes more time. I will say that if i could only have one gun it would be my HMX LRT .25 Poly barreled would be my choice but it would be hard to not just say the hell with it and say PP Impact .30. The only reason i would go with the RAW over the Impact is the RAWs are so insanely reliable and just shoot and shoot. My HMX .22 has upwards of 70k shots threw it and never touched. My Impacts and Crowns will never go that far without rebuilds.... Factor that out and I would take my Impact MKII PP .30 without a second thought what that gun is capable of is insane. I hate people that hate on FX talking shit with their Mrod saying how there .25 Mrod was 1/4th the cost as my Crown or Impact and it will shoot as good or better then them... There's a few local assholes that pulled that and we met up and i showed them the difference between what they thought was good and what is really good.... Two out of the three ordered Dream Lite Bottle guns on the spot and the other bought one of my first gen .25 Impacts that I had no need for. The funnest ones is the Gaunlet guys.... Oh my 300 dollar Gaunlet will shoot .25 inch groups at 75y blah blah blah... There was one at the range 2 weeks ago right after it opened back up. He was talking shit about how his Gaunlet could out shoot out shoot our Crowns that we was banging 1 moa plates at 300y with H&N .218 29g slugs (both out Crown Cont with 700mm slug liners are lovinggggg the .218 29g H&N slugs) We told him come over to our house and let's shoot the next day... He did... Hubby shot a 100y 50 shot group with his HMX LRT .25 with 33.95s that was smaller then his 5 shot group at 50y.... He was humbled and asked could he shoot one of our guns so i let him shoot my new Dream lite bottle .30 that i was doing some dialing in with and he was so amazed at the trigger alone (he had never shot a match grade world class trigger before) that he was hooked and when i had him shooting 10 shot groups at a 100y that was 1 to 1.25 minute he started asking about prices and how much it would cost to set him one up and if he bought one would we tune it for what he wanted it to do etc etc... The FX shit talkers just don't understand what makes us FX fan girls and boys love FX so much until they shoot one or are showed up badly by one and then the humbled voice comes out. FX is doing what no one else has or can right now. Their guns are allowing us to push the limits of what's possible with PCP guns and slugs and put lead with precision on targets are insane (for pcp) distances that just isn't possible with anything else that's mass produced. Sure our highly custom .257 and .308s that are shooting 5 shot groups at 400y that are sub minute are out preforming our FX guns but they are highly custom bespoke guns that cost multiple times what any of our FX guns cost and took a long time to design and build (we are building a .338 that is taking heavy inspiration from tofazfou .338 airpua build and already have 7k in the gun and 8 months and it's still not complete but will be a gun capable of reaching out to 800 to 900y or better and being sub minute out to hopefully in the 600y range and hold sub 2 minute out to 800y our so). Today no one can touch FX on what they are doing and what their guns are capable of with mass produced guns. FX owns the game of mass produced extreme precision pcp guns that are capable or winning at the highest level and offering totally unique products that allow their guns to mould to the users needs IE barrel lengths, pellet liners, slug liners etc etc. I can by 3 barrels and have one gun cover three different needs, 380mm barrel that still allows you to reach out and touch something for pesting and such when you don't want to deal with a 700mm barrel. Then a 700mm slug liner that will allow you to really reach out and put lead with high on target energy levels and then a 500 or 700mm pellet liner that allows me to cover close to long shots with pellets that scrub energy quickly so i dont have to worry as much about retained energy after a miss or pass thru and the projectile carrying on the way the slugs will. The caliber changing is nice to even tho kits are costly it's still much cheaper then buying another high end gun (we don't do the cal swapping thing because when the guns setup how we want it setup we don't want to make changes so we just buy another gun BUT we do love that 109 dollars buys us another barrel that will fit the need we are wanting.) My Dream lite bottle (i own 2 and hubby owns two I have one .22 and one .25 and he has one .25 and one .30) in .25 i use 600mm slug liner and 600mm pellet liner and swap them out a lot. We love to take crows with them and have two fields that we shoot. The shorter field that presents shots in the 70 to 110y range i use pellets JSB 33.95s in the pellet liner and for the larger field that presents shots on the fence row between 160 and 275y I throw the slug liner in it and pushing 31g slugs at 910fps and that gun and slug combo is a minute capable 200y setup. Taking crows early in the morning before wind gets up at 230 to 270y equals no problems... At 250y my hit ratio would be about 9 out of 10 shots on crows and when doves land on the fence row at 230 to 250y my kill ratio on doves at that range would be about 6 out of 10... At 200y they don't stand a chance if the wind is calm.

I'm torn between thinking you're jammy for having a mk.3 (with adjustable power) and disliking the FAC-length / Sniper Wildcats because they're just too long for me to carry while out hunting (because I'm disabled, on crutches). I know the 700mm+ barrels are more efficient for slugs etc, but no can do for me; I'll live with it. I'll hopefully soon be reviewing my own spanking-new FX rifle on my channel. It's different to this but also adjustable-power (UK FAC), more to come ASAP on that. Meanwhile I wouldn't say no if I woke up tomorrow to find my non-FAC .177" Wildcat mk.1 (shortened) had grown a mk.3 -style rear power adjuster. The superior barrel kit of FX is purely a business, they just keep coming with new things for business, the old ones STX barrel may not differ in accuracy it's just about tunning
Excellent review Giles. Any news on a ambidextrous cheek piece as I'm a lefty. The side lever is fine on the right but it's the cheek piece especially with the new extra large magazines. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
What is the "extra" superior liner it comes with ? Hope this company isn't gipping me on an extra longer, if it comes with the standard "and the heavy" liner.
I agree with the pic rail for a bipod. I mean they fitted in as standard on the MK2 Compact, I don’t get why they didn’t do the same on all MK3’s. Step backwards IMO, I had to have my stock drilled by someone and had to pay that someone to do it. Hope that changes going forward.
Hi Giles, another great video, In fact I bought one on the strength of it!! It arrived today and seems the pups nuts, but I was very disappointed as it arrived with a dovetail rather than the picatinny rail in your video, and every press shot from UK stockists I could find. Having gone back and read the very small print, the pic rail is only standard in the states so I'm of the opinion that ALL THE UK PRESS SHOTS WITH A PIC RAIL SHOULD SAY IT'S AN EXTRA !! I've ordered one anyway as it looks pants with the dovetail, but it would have been nice to know before it arrived. Keep up the good work and good luck with your new full time venture!
The picatinny is an optional extra I'm having mine delivered on Monday and I asked what the scope rail was and it's 11mm dovetail don't know why they don't just put a picatinny rail on probably to get a bit more money off you to upgrade
I was wondering if you could get those effects from the USA to the UK they probably check the shipment to the regulations on foot pounds I know that 12 will do the job I have a Beemin r 9 in 22 I’ve taken some pretty large pests with that in the 70 pound range stealing my pets

@@cmac1100 i really really wanted mine to be as good as all these reviewers say they are, but it was f#cking appalling. Constant leaks, cocking lever broke twice and shooting a 3 inch spread at 30 yards. ended up getting a full refund , even gave my fx chrono away afterwards.

I just wonder how does this compare to the impact power/tuning potential wise. Is the valve/porting large enough to make as much power as an impact if as large power plenum is used. Or do I still have to wait for another one as powerful as an impact.
I had purchased FX Wildcat MK3 Compact .177 a year ago. Now I have purchased a .22 barrel kit and installed it. Can you please suggest me what pressure I should set for the regulator to achieve 920-930 fps for my Wildcat mk3 compact if I am using JSB .22 18.13 grains? Since i don't have a chroni I would be greatly obliged if you could help me in this regard.
Grumpy - I couldn’t agree more - why endless faff around with it then decide you need the new model which comes out 3 weeks later. I’m also doubtful about a bigger, more complicated 18 shot mag being an improvement. A money making exercise in selling us something we didn’t need. At the end of a hunting session you should be emptying the magazine because in UK law if it’s not and you are stopped by the police the gun will be considered “loaded” even if the mag is not actually in the gun.
@@dave_724 I’m not sure we talking about the same thing. I’ve been told on several occasions over the years that if you have the rifle + load magazine in your possession then even if the magazine is not in the rifle the rifle is regarded by in law as being a loaded weapon in a public place. It is generally only relevant in circumstances where you are transporting a firearm. The last example of this was when I shot an ordinary non- FAC air rifle on a gun shops indoor range. As they packed up the gun for me to take home they removed the remaining pellets from the magazine because they believed to have both the air rifle and the loaded magazine in my possession when travelling through a public space ( travelling by train in this instance ) would amount “legally” to having a loaded weapon in a public place. It was mentioned again that the loaded magazine didn’t have to be in the rifle. I have never understood the reasoning behind it and I find it irritating AND I would love to discover that the advice is factually wrong. Please tell me what your authority is - is it enshrined in statute or some recently decided case ? I always unload the magazine because I believe the law requires me to.
FX could have put all of these "new" features on the MK1...except maybe the Superior liner. It irks customers when you have to buy AGAIN to get heavier linkages, externally adjustable regs, a second gauge, more plenum space, a better valve and a power adjuster 3-5 years after you spent $1200 on it's predecessor. They left all of this off just to boot you up the line to the Impact but now they mysteriously feel the need to add them.
Glad I waited to catch this one, at least it had barrel kits. That was a big thing right there, although still a few hundred dollars. I can buy just one.22 or any caliber, an can then just pick up a .177 or .25 caliber barrel kit to change it on the same gun. I'm sure they will have another new improved one though, a year from now that I'll be pissed about lol.
My only criticism is the fact that the stocks are way too short causing you to hunch over the gun. If it had an adjustable extension it would be perfect.
do know when the hades 17 will be available for the Usa?? I ordered the mk3 in 17 for small pest at my farm. cause my impact 30 puts holes and makes to much noise hitting metal haha. well thanks for the videos
this wildcat has everything an impact has but it actualy looks nice...i'll have the .25 compact,finaly something worthy of replacing my wildcat .25 mk1
Impact has up to 580cc air cilinder, probably a bigger plenum, ambidextral side lever (aftermarket), and looks are in the eye of the beholder. Me personally loves the Impact tactical look. Impact can be fitted with a 9mm barrelkit too. So there are differences. :-)
I will stick with my MK 1 .. it does what I want it to do , without all the gimmicks .. Mind you , my Kozak is still my go to rifle and is no where near the price of FX's

Yes and no, all you have to do is go to your local gun shop and ask them to order one in for you if they don't already have one there for you to buy.

My Dream lite bottle (i own 2 and hubby owns two I have one .22 and one .25 and he has one .25 and one .30) in .25 i use 600mm slug liner and 600mm pellet liner and swap them out a lot. We love to take crows with them and have two fields that we shoot. The shorter field that presents shots in the 70 to 110y range i use pellets JSB 33.95s in the pellet liner and for the larger field that presents shots on the fence row between 160 and 275y I throw the slug liner in it and pushing 31g slugs at 910fps and that gun and slug combo is a minute capable 200y setup. Taking crows early in the morning before wind gets up at 230 to 270y equals no problems... At 250y my hit ratio would be about 9 out of 10 shots on crows and when doves land on the fence row at 230 to 250y my kill ratio on doves at that range would be about 6 out of 10... At 200y they don't stand a chance if the wind is calm.

I'm torn between thinking you're jammy for having a mk.3 (with adjustable power) and disliking the FAC-length / Sniper Wildcats because they're just too long for me to carry while out hunting (because I'm disabled, on crutches). I know the 700mm+ barrels are more efficient for slugs etc, but no can do for me; I'll live with it.
I'll hopefully soon be reviewing my own spanking-new FX rifle on my channel. It's different to this but also adjustable-power (UK FAC), more to come ASAP on that.
Meanwhile I wouldn't say no if I woke up tomorrow to find my non-FAC .177" Wildcat mk.1 (shortened) had grown a mk.3 -style rear power adjuster. Though I'd still be dreaming of course, despite the vacant .177" slot on my FAC.

I agree with the pic rail for a bipod. I mean they fitted in as standard on the MK2 Compact, I don’t get why they didn’t do the same on all MK3’s. Step backwards IMO, I had to have my stock drilled by someone and had to pay that someone to do it. Hope that changes going forward.
Hi Giles, another great video, In fact I bought one on the strength of it!! It arrived today and seems the pups nuts, but I was very disappointed as it arrived with a dovetail rather than the picatinny rail in your video, and every press shot from UK stockists I could find. Having gone back and read the very small print, the pic rail is only standard in the states so I'm of the opinion that ALL THE UK PRESS SHOTS WITH A PIC RAIL SHOULD SAY IT'S AN EXTRA !! I've ordered one anyway as it looks pants with the dovetail, but it would have been nice to know before it arrived.

The picatinny is an optional extra I'm having mine delivered on Monday and I asked what the scope rail was and it's 11mm dovetail don't know why they don't just put a picatinny rail on probably to get a bit more money off you to upgrade

@@cmac1100 i really really wanted mine to be as good as all these reviewers say they are, but it was f#cking appalling. Constant leaks, cocking lever broke twice and shooting a 3 inch spread at 30 yards. ended up getting a full refund , even gave my fx chrono away afterwards.

I just wonder how does this compare to the impact power/tuning potential wise. Is the valve/porting large enough to make as much power as an impact if as large power plenum is used. Or do I still have to wait for another one as powerful as an impact.
I had purchased FX Wildcat MK3 Compact .177 a year ago. Now I have purchased a .22 barrel kit and installed it. Can you please suggest me what pressure I should set for the regulator to achieve 920-930 fps for my Wildcat mk3 compact if I am using JSB .22 18.13 grains? Since i don't have a chroni I would be greatly obliged if you could help me in this regard.

@ALAN BRAY me too. My wildcat has been faultless. So much so,that I may well buy a mk3 in a different calibre to my current wildcat.
Grumpy - I couldn’t agree more - why endless faff around with it then decide you need the new model which comes out 3 weeks later. I’m also doubtful about a bigger, more complicated 18 shot mag being an improvement. A money making exercise in selling us something we didn’t need. At the end of a hunting session you should be emptying the magazine because in UK law if it’s not and you are stopped by the police the gun will be considered “loaded” even if the mag is not actually in the gun.

@@dave_724 I’m not sure we talking about the same thing. I’ve been told on several occasions over the years that if you have the rifle + load magazine in your possession then even if the magazine is not in the rifle the rifle is regarded by in law as being a loaded weapon in a public place. It is generally only relevant in circumstances where you are transporting a firearm. The last example of this was when I shot an ordinary non- FAC air rifle on a gun shops indoor range. As they packed up the gun for me to take home they removed the remaining pellets from the magazine because they believed to have both the air rifle and the loaded magazine in my possession when travelling through a public space ( travelling by train in this instance ) would amount “legally” to having a loaded weapon in a public place. It was mentioned again that the loaded magazine didn’t have to be in the rifle. I have never understood the reasoning behind it and I find it irritating AND I would love to discover that the advice is factually wrong. Please tell me what your authority is - is it enshrined in statute or some recently decided case ? I always unload the magazine because I believe the law requires me to.
FX could have put all of these "new" features on the MK1...except maybe the Superior liner. It irks customers when you have to buy AGAIN to get heavier linkages, externally adjustable regs, a second gauge, more plenum space, a better valve and a power adjuster 3-5 years after you spent $1200 on it's predecessor. They left all of this off just to boot you up the line to the Impact but now they mysteriously feel the need to add them.
Glad I waited to catch this one, at least it had barrel kits. That was a big thing right there, although still a few hundred dollars. I can buy just one.22 or any caliber, an can then just pick up a .177 or .25 caliber barrel kit to change it on the same gun.
I'm sure they will have another new improved one though, a year from now that I'll be pissed about lol.
Does the Sub 12 have any adjustability on the power whale or none whatsoever??
It's bad shape wood stockguns I like.
My only criticism is the fact that the stocks are way too short causing you to hunch over the gun. If it had an adjustable extension it would be perfect.

this wildcat has everything an impact has but it actualy looks nice...i'll have the .25 compact,finaly something worthy of replacing my wildcat .25 mk1
Impact has up to 580cc air cilinder, probably a bigger plenum, ambidextral side lever (aftermarket), and looks are in the eye of the beholder. Me personally loves the Impact tactical look.
Impact can be fitted with a 9mm barrelkit too.
So there are differences. :-)

Great review as usual but I doubt putting slugs through a sub 12 ftlbs will produce anything useful.
I will stick with my MK 1 .. it does what I want it to do , without all the gimmicks .. Mind you , my Kozak is still my go to rifle and is no where near the price of FX's

Disappointed they didn’t mount a pic rail on the stock for a bipod like they did for the mk2 compact. That’s a huge miss in my opinion.
